I have a more expensive Tristar TT-15 Sporter. After 20,000 rounds through it, I decided to fit the stock a bit better to me so I didn't have to "force it" -- I'm a lefty. So I took some wood off the right side of the stock and the pretty grain stayed! No air-brushing on mine. Turkish walnut really is nice. The climate is dry, so the wood grows slow and the grain is tight. Turkish walnut is used now on the finest stocks in the world because it tends to have a lot of "figure" in it. $800 per blank is not unusual! American walnut is hard and strong, but the grain tends to be fairly straight (our climate is wetter and the trees grow faster). Great video!!!

Just wanted to say I really enjoyed this video. I'm in England and the idea of being able to buy a gun from what's essentially a supermarket just blows my mind. I had to apply for a license which included having my medical records records checked and a firearms officer visiting my home to interview me and check that I have a gun safe bolted to structural wall ofy home. I really like the fact you pick out the benefits to yourself in buying more affordable guns. Too many gun snobs out there!

@@jd9708 Also. You do realise the whole purpose of the gun safe is to ensure that the none law abiding citizens don’t have easy access to your guns. Come on man. The majority of gun crime is conducted using stolen legitimate firearms. Hence the importance of gun safes and gun storage and handling education. A 15 minute chat is hardly breaching your rights or even a slight inconvenience. Especially when you consider the alternatives.

Very good info I don’t totally agree with the not spending too much on the gun just because of the quality you will get from a more expensive gun that you will buy once and will be in your grandkids hands from what I’ve seen most of the guns do last a long time just not as long as more expensive ones but very good info always glad to hear what people are using and what are happy with!

I have purchased 3 of these Tristar doublebarrell over/under shotguns from Walmart. One 12 gauge and two 20 gauges. People tell me that they won't last, to be around form 10,000 rounds. Well I go Clay shooting between 6 to 8 times a year. The Clay range is a 100 round course. In one years time I will have shot between 600-800 rounds. Not using the same gun all the time, I see many years out of these guns for a reasonable price. I've never have had any problems out of neither of my Tristar shotguns. I do own another Tristar 410 gauge that is not a Walmart base model, and this Tristar shotgun was purchased from a gun dealer.

I'm an actual Shotgun Shooter (Trap, Skeet, 5 Stand, & Sporting Clays), unlike many who have posted here. Acquiring the skill to hit a 108mm diameter disk traveling at something between 35 and 80 mph is actually of value. Learning how to hit birds on the wing is also of value, just ask nearly any farmer about his opinion of certain species of birds. It's also a skill that can be transferred to shooting handguns and rifles. Because it forces you to learn how to shoot effectively at speed. I've seen Sporting Clays presentations where the shooting "window" is only 2 or 3 seconds. I will also point out that 00 Buckshot can be effective as far out as 100 yards and at one time the most common load for deer was Buckshot. Shotguns are fantastic defensive weapons. Quite simpley They are NOT "Toys". BTW, while I do now have some expense Beretta's and Browning's I started with a 20 gage Turkish shotgun imported by CZ USA that cost me 499.99 at Cabela's on sale. They are actually very well made shotguns capable of providing many years of shooting enjoyment. The Tri Star has a very good reputation at many shotgun ranges as a Starter Gun. It's what is commonly recommended as a first shotgun for a youngster interested in trying their hand at breaking clays. A big plus is that you really won't feel too guilty about taking a hacksaw and shortening the stock to fit an 8 or 10 year old. Another plus is the Tri Star is light enough to allow a person of smaller stature and strength to shoot 50 or 100 rounds. Downside is that it does produce more recoil so taking up shotshell loading may become necessary if you have a younger child showing real promise with a shotgun Because if you have a 70 lbs. shooter you don't hand them shotshells more suited to a larger and heavier shooter, you give them hand loaded Low Recoil loads. So to sum it up, there is noting at all wrong about starting shooting shotguns competitively with a budget gun like a Tri Star. Because they will work very well for a number of years. Downside is if something breaks a repair may present some problems. In addition I do believe that the joint on an aluminum receiver may not last as long as on a steel receiver but this is just a hunch.

Absolutely no trouble buying parts for these guns. After thousands of rounds, I broke a firing pin and called their support. So an example of you pricing idea. Weatherby has Yildiz make its side by sides they charge at least a hundred dollars more than Yildiz does for the same firearm under their name. As for the chokes a lot of the Turkish manufacturers use the same chokes as more expensive guns just for ease of design. I believe a common one is them using the Beretta pattern of choke.

Kahn entry level guns are a good way to get into the sport without breaking the bank. Eventually and if you end up shooting enough, you'll yearn for a browning or berretta. They are definitely better. Can't see myself buying a higher grade of gun from a company like Kahn, because if you put a 2k browning and 2k Kahn side by side. You'll always go for a browning. Also cant trust a company that offers different grade of fire arms. For the same reason, You don't see Porsche selling a subpar vehicle. I see these as something you take to a swamp with you because you don't want to risk ruining the nice one. Or someone that wants to take up the sport but is unsure they will continue with it. There's a place for these guns in certain situations. For sure. But, no one aspires to owning one. Its always going to be a consolation.

The point is: there are thousands of gun reviewers on KZfaq, all imploring "Subscribe to my channel!" and the majority of them suck -- some jackoff shooting his new gun, without showing us the target for groups/accuracy, or even telling us the range. Showing manual of arms/loading once is fine, but we don't need to witness redundant reloading -- boring. Or watch 60 secs of grass if the shooter actually does walk 50 yards to the target. Learn how to use the Start/Stop button on camera, or how to edit. If you put up any media for public consumption, be open to feedback, like any true artist, that will help your offering. Using a backdrop that looks like something out of a third-world bordello is valid aesthetic criticism. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

I purchased a Hatfield (Turkish) semi-auto 12 ga about a month ago at Walmart for $206. I read all the reviews and did some things before I shot it and it works perfectly. What I have come to notice since I bought the gun, is that there are several Turkish made firearms with essentially the same receiver, trigger, pins, operating handle, safety, etc., etc. I saw one shotgun that was virtually identical but was a little more money. Everything other than the name on the gun looked identical. If you compare videos on some of these guns you can see them disassembled and see just how similar they are. I think you are correct in your opinion that these guns are either produced by the same manufacturers or by companies that work very closely together.

Turkey makes a dozen different guns out of the same, two factories. Just like electronics in Japan, Panasonic makes dozens of brand names. Here's a bit of a testimonial, and a solution, for you and the viewers... To loosen a tight firearm, proceed to your closest Home Depot and buy a 12oz can of "Ultra lube." It is an inexpensive, non-petroleum base lubricant/penetrator/rust preventative, plant based lube. It will not harm any part of your gun. It dries to a thin, dry film and doesn't collect "schmutz." Its also great for anything needing a penetrator and lubricant. I had a squeaky door hinge, very annoying and nothing fixed it. PB blaster, WD40, 3 in 1, nothing worked. I hit the hinges with a light spray of Ultra lube. It is thin, sort of "foams up" (but not too foamy) so it's very "pro-active" about finding it's way into tight spaces. I worked the door back and forth several times, hit it again and left it. It still squeaked so I went off, disappointed, again. Then, after a day or two of use and time to get through the tightest seams, presto! No more sqeak! And none since. I went out to my shop (30 yrs a pro-mechanic) and sprayed the very rusty woodstove, in one small area, near the bottom on one side. The next day, it had spread up and out, across the rust, about a foot plus. This stuff seeks out and feeds on rust. Long story short, no matter how tight your parts fit, this stuff works like a champ. It and a few hi-base shells should loosen up any tight shotgun. And anything else you have (except your wife's purse). I use it on all my guns, including my matching, early '70s Belgian made Browning A-5 shotgun and it's "sister" .30-06 semi-auto, both with the perfect bluing (and furniture) to which you referred. They're pristine and I wouldn't use anything I felt would possibly be of harm. It's perfect for guns. Goodluck with the shooting!

FYI; most of the Turkish shotguns are Beretta clones, those chokes are the Beretta/Benelli Mobil type tubes. I recently had the pleasure of meeting the owner of TriStar, he's a good man. We have 3 different variations of the Viper G2 semi autos, they are solid guns.

I just purchased this gun at Wal Mart on the 10th. They would not let me look at it before purchasing it, told me I was "not allowed to hold it in the store" even though it is not put together. But given the price I went for it anyway, specially being their price was $100-$150 cheaper than my local gun shops. Opened it up and the stock was beat to hell! Looked like someone hit it against something over and over again. Of course Walmart told me they could not return it or exchange it. Called up the company in MO and they had me send it in and they are going to replace the whole gun. They understand that Walmart makes their own rules and acts as if they are laws. Still have not have the chance to shoot it but looking forward to it!

I use to love Walmart no I hate it. They don't even have a cart that will roll properly. Now you have to check yourself out with no discount in price. As far as the gun I wouldn't buy a gun from Turkey. I can buy a vintage savage or Steven's for about 400.00. The turkey guns resale wont be very good but the savage or Steven's in 30 yrs of owning you'll sell it for more that's the difference.
