As a potential turo consumer/guest rental, this video might as well be titled: reasons to not choose Turo, instead go through car rental company. I added priced out “premium” to my rental total and it jumped from $585 to $900+ Yea.. no thanks! Lol

Yea, I don’t quite understand why people rent from Turo. Every time I’ve contemplated a car it’s been more expensive than a traditional car rental after all the fees.

Yep. I don't want a deductible. I was all set before I started reading and watching videos. Best to just stick with regular rental companies and pay a lot for extra insurance.

You cannot be more wrong...turo protection plans are all secondary insurances , so they will go ahead and exhaust your personal insurance first and then pay up. So even the premier plan has the potential to mess up your insurance premiums for ever. However , if you have no insurance, thats yet another story, you will simply get lucky

Yes, this video is misinformation, he should take it down. I wanted to use turo for my vacation, however, after doing my due diligence, I discovered how the plans are all secondary to my personal car insurance. I didn't want to deal with the headache of doing an insurance claim if something were to happen (if they cover turo?). I went with a rental car company using a credit card that covers theft or collision. The cost is 40% more, but its worth it IMO since I do this trip only once a year.

Lol. When you wreck a hosts car, they do everything to try and use your primary insurance 1st. It's only worth buying if you don't have your own insurance policy. It's actually a scam and I'm not sure how it's even legal. So I have to pay for it with my own insurance, THEN I have to pay $3K or $500 because I clicked a button on an app. There's a reason that you can't even select the premium option anymore.

I bought the minimum protection before confirming with my insurance about coverage- my insurance covers 100%. Now Turo won’t let me modify or cancel the protection. I feel like I just been duped $133

Yes, if your personal car insurance covers you using turo, all turo guest protection plans are huge ripoffs. Not only did you lose 133 dollars, if something does happen, they charge you the deductible then ask your personal insurance for the rest, regardless if its your fault. Complete scam. Basically, if you have no insurance, it may be worth it to get a plan depending on your situation. If you do have personal insurance coverage, the guest plans are a ripoff. They don't make this clear when renting!

@@insanepenguin4617 I’d like to update that Turo did allow me to get my money back from canceling. And yes, it is extremely misleading. You don’t need this extra protection if you have existing full coverage insurance already- of course always call your provider, & get it in writing about the coverages.

I'm a turo host. An idiot just rented my car and completed destroyed. He said the gas light on the dashboard was on with it wasnt but I didt submit a picture. and he drove 1000 km with the car. what happened? screwed the whole car motor. Now turo doesnt wanna pay the 2k repair damage and the guest either. I strongly recommend everyone to do trust in this compnay

Hi. If a Guest totals the car then they will be responsible for all the damages correct? I’m not sure if collisions are considered purely Physical damage and not Mechanical or Interior.

Please answer this question. I need your help. Scenario: I had a guest who parked my car and another driver collided with it and took off; Guest filed police report and everything accordingly; Guest purchased standard plan. I have a 90/10. Chose to go route to resolve with guest. But I don't understand the protection plan really for the guest. Does it mean that they've purchased a insurance plan where they only pay 500 deductible, and Turo will cover the rest of the damage? I can already tell you it may cost around 2-3k to fix based on past experience. Or does it mean I can only recover 500 from the guest, and I will have to cover the rest out of pocket?

Insurance companies love to play games. They make deals with each other over accidents. Its up to them over who is at fault and by how much. From my research, unless you are rear-ended.....both drivers are liable and you’re givin a percentage of that liability. Say your 20% at fault and the other driver is 80% at fault🤷‍♂️. IMO, having a dash cam is a great idea. Unless you're a bad driver😂

Most insurances won't cover turo cars since they are individually owned cars. Best to call your insurance

Of course you can use your own car insurance if you are a Turo guest.

Most insurance won't cover car sharing like it's a rental. Meaning your collision and comprehensive coverage won't cover the Toro car. But your liability would probably cover you, your passengers and the other vehicle/passengers up to the limits of your policy (you'd be "legal"). Call them and ask. Also, it's possible they'll let you add coverage for a fee.

You have to call your insurance company and ask. And dont just ask “do you cover car rentals”. You have to ask if they cover car SHARE rentals. Most do not.

I had the standard coverage for a chipped window on an Escalade. Turo charged me $500.00 for the windshield and that was fine....THEN Turo Filed a claim with Nationwide (My personal insurance) for another $900.00 two months later. Am I missing something?

Yeah, Escalade windshields are EXPENSIVE! The cost was probably $1400.00, but only charged you $500.00 and then went after your insurance for the remainder. Hell my F150 windshield is $650.00 and it has no fancy crap attached to it(sensors, etc).

I read the Turo coverage in 10 minutes and it’s pretty clear that it is 1. Full coverage 2. $500 3. $3,000 out of pocket for the three plans… not sure what is confusing about that.

I would like to ask you a question, I have a case that the car's windshield had a crack, based on that the owner filed a damage claim, and showed photos of before and after but that pre-existing nic in the windshield already existed before the photos that the owner did not report, and then he shows the same photos of them with a bigger crack when the only one that I saw before delivering the car was the same ones that already existed before taking the car, which was smaller and that It was not my fault but it was during my rental with the standard insurance company, for which I made a claim to Turo that was not my fault, I hope you can give me an opinion of yourself, thank you

Turo will go off before and after photos. They will look at your photos as well as his photos. If it had a crack at all it could have spread easily with the heat or the cold so if the owner knew that he had a crack , He should not have filed a claim. I would dispute the claim, but you must have proof that there was a smaller crack at the same spot on the windshield, Turo uses meta-data from the photos and can tell the date and time and location the photo was taken.

Yes. No matter which level you pick, the non-Turo car is covered. The different levels of insurance is for the Turo car and YOU. At least thats how I read it on Turo.
