Former WWE Superstar Tyrus (formerly Brodus Clay) discusses why he felt terrified before beginning his job as a political commentator on Fox News on the Greg Gutfeld Show. Tyrus is a 16-year veteran of professional wrestling having wrestled in such promotions as WWE, Impact Wrestling, and currently the National Wrestling Alliance.

Tyrus comes across as a very down to earth person, that you could chill with and have a great time. This next statement isn’t thinking specifically about him, it’s just weird to me when someone is bíracial that they feel the need to identify as only one and not the other. It’s like a middle finger to the mom and her ancestors (or dad in some cases) and embracing just dad and his ancestors. I know people are going to disagree and say it isn’t like that but what is it then when you are so embarrassed or put off by one parent’s ràce that you disown it entirely?

I am a 60 year old white lady, and I have liked Tyrus since he's been on Gutfeld (I'm not really big on wrestling!). The comradery of Tyrus, Greg and Kat along with 2 guests is so evident. And I absolutely love when someone makes Tyrus laugh (Dagen made him laugh so hard he was falling out of his chair). I like hearing his point of view. I think he is a great role model for younger people today. Go Tyrus!!!!! 👍🏼😎

I know and love Tyrus from "Gutfeld." He is so smart and observant, and he provides great insights, in addition to much humor. He's definitely someone you'd want to have for dinner or have a beer with. All real, no BS.

Guys(and gals) like him are everywhere and on both sides of the aisle. The problem is they don't speak up or don't have the platform. Common sense has not left the general population, it only appears to have left because of social media. The majority of the keyboard warriors out there would never say the stuff they do to someone's face. That's why we got along better before social media because all conversations were held face to face and were able to be worked out.

It's surprising but a lot of wrestlers are like that. I was shocked the first time I heard Sting speak in an interview. Even knowing it's a show, without really being exposed to their real side all you tend to have are the stereotypes of their personas.

My wife is an old, white woman in Montana that loves Tyrus. I'm an old white guy that loves Tyrus, too. Tyrus is a perfect example of "you can't judge a book by its cover." Once Tyrus begins to speak, it's obvious that his intellect far surpasses most of the talking heads in media.

@@gabiehazie Well there's an assumption that mixed race people have to identify as Black. They can't just be there own thing. Some Blacks get mad that Mixed people say they're not just Black and some Whites pretend that mixed people are just Black even when seeing a White parent. It's like "I'm half of what you are" ya know. It stims from a racist rule in the US called the one drop rule which a lot of people still subscribe to. Tyrus being in his 50s probably still subscribes to this thought despite obviously being a bi racial man. He can call himself Black and get no backlash but if he called himself White, there would be tons of backlash. Even calling himself both would bring backlash. Sorry for the long explanation. Hope I made sense lol.

My favorite of Tyrus so far, was last week when Emily Compano was telling her story about being on the airplane, talking faster than anyone I've ever heard - Tyrus' eyes were as big as saucers - he couldn't believe it - and then he fell out of the chair!! I rewound that part so many times!! I absolutely LOVE IT when Tyrus is on!!

He was a closet conservative lol.. all jokes aside, he did a fantastic job of not only getting a seemingly ridiculous gimmick over in wrestling he found his true calling as a speaker and role model

Tyrus is one of my most favorites. He says it like it is. I was talking to my brothers and nephews and mentioned Tyrus, and they asked if I was into watching wrestling, like so surprised. And I said he was on a regular talk show, and I watch him all the time. I said he’s the coolest guy on a panel of guest speakers, on Fox, and that I am sad when he’s not there. He adds so much to the show, with good information, opinions, and jokes, and just really a big plus, for me. I even love his wrestling belts. ❤️

Tyrus is the main reason I started tuning in to Gutfeld. I’ve watched wrestling, years ago, and didn’t realize who he was til I looked him up. Even my husband (who is a huge, lifelong wrestling fan) likes watching him… and he gives us a new angle to conversations about things going on in the news because I’m way more political than he is, and it’s fun to talk and laugh about things.

Great interview. Tyrus is the exact type of person, straight up truth sayer, that every network should strive to have onboard, but we all know what most are looking for these days, just like T said, BLIND OBEDIANCE OR LOYALTY... Blind obediance/Loyalty as well as this new Projectionism blame game, are the biggest factors in keeping the non-self informing (probly way over 50% pf Americans sadly) having inaccurate views of actual reality! Thanks Tyrus and Chris for the show. I hope it gets shared out there. We need others like Tyrus to help break the false stereotypes placed on all of us, all colors, all cultures. Puting people in boxes is big business ESPECIALLY FOR POLITICIANS!

I am one of those little old women who love watching you Tyrus. You bring a different flavor to the Guttfeld show that makes me reconsider some of my positions. Your perspective is enlightening and I appreciate the things that you say. While I do not always agree with you, I see your reasoning and it is clear that you are a thinking person. Great interview!

I'm gonna disagree with Tyrus. The stigma isn't "getting political" it's being conservative. The vast majority in Hollywood are openly and loudly progressive or liberal. Politics only is a problem in Hollywood if you aren't left wing.

Gutfeld! Is the only late-night show I watch and a lot of it is because of Tyrus. He’s so down-to-earth and says it like it is. Puts up with Gutfeld’s slams in a kind manner.

Because of being a fan when he was with WWE, I tuned in to see what he was having to say about ANYTHING. And like you both discussed, he's got his OWN mind, OWN thoughts/POV, etc. He's the reason I started watching Gutfeld! and I absolutely LOVE when he's on and I'm a bit disappointed when he's not. :)

I wish all Americans were more like Tyrus. We need more "I have a preconceived notion, but I'll listen anyway". We need more intelligence in the way we approach discourse between opinions. If I was told I would appreciate a wrestler who so calmly laid out his views of our society, I wouldn't have believed it

We watch Gutfeld whenever Tyrus is on. Did not realize he is black for a long time. We enjoy him very much. He’s real, down to earth and funny. Not to mention very handsome. We also enjoy the comics! Joe Macke, the guy from Canada etc.
