How come you’ve mixed the building sand wet enough as if your laying bricks with it, do a more dry mix like you have with the sharp sand and you won’t be able to push it out like that and building sand is better to work with. I’ve taken up other people’s work in the past and it’s pretty much the same strength when breaking it out the only time they do move or brake is when people don’t do full beds that’s the most important bit in my eyes. And properly dig out and stone up with a heavy wacker ovbs.
@PavedinStoneLtd3 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear you dont have any problems with your installs. You're right the building sand is a little on the wet side...there is actually a second video on this subject if you want to watch that. The point remains that I was demonstrating the physics of what happens to the particles of sand under pressure.
@georgerga653 жыл бұрын
@@PavedinStoneLtd will do, I’m not saying I don’t use sharp sand as I do. I normally get some building sand in there just for the fact it’s better to work with. These days it more what the company want/ make you use just to cover our own arses if anything does go wrong. 👍🏼

For laying a porcelain would you reccomend a 4.1 or 5.1 sand cement mix
@PavedinStoneLtd2 жыл бұрын
A 5 : 1 mix 40-50mm thick is our preference when making mortar on site. Sometimes finish levels may dictate a thinner bed, 25-30mm, in this instance we would switch to 4 :1

Does the sub base (type 1 or concrete) make a difference to which sand you lay with?
@PavedinStoneLtd2 жыл бұрын
Good question, thanks! No, the sub base wouldn't make a difference, sharp sand is still my preferred laying course. Porcelain is often laid with exterior adhesive or a wet mix directly onto a concrete pad, usually as a solve for any level discrepancies.

Can I use crusher dust as sharp sand
@PavedinStoneLtd Жыл бұрын
In practical use, i.e I know ppl who would say it's absolutely fine to use, however....I wouldn't use it. Why? Because to run a landscaping business you need to know that the materials and methods you are using have been tried and tested. Most of these projects are serious Investments, we wouldn't want to be liable by using a untested aggregate

Is sharp sand better for brick laying
@PavedinStoneLtdАй бұрын
No, building sand or soft sand for brick work. Whilst the sharp sand has extra strength, it doesn't squeeze down as much so it's very difficult to work with for brick laying
