Why should Wemby not win the DPOY when the stats and eyetest shows he deserves the award unless some kind of politics prevents the inevitable.

Vic should obviously win DPOY. It’s a shame that when it’s all said and done with his career that we have to say “he should have one more but he lost on an arbitrary rule”. Rudy has three dpoy’s, dude has proven his talent but let the awards be actually interesting and let the kid win. Rudy is trying to win a championship his priority’s are completely different than a rookie that is making a generational impact on the game of basketball.

Wemby definitely worked hard to deserve the ROY and DPOY but there will be people who will prevent him from achieving the goal. Would the League give that award to foreign player even if he deserves it?

What is impressive with Wemby is that he blocks the player and get back the ball just after. Almost each of his blocks is a turnover for the opposite team. And Draymond Green was saying today that lots of players could go to an easy layup but because of the presence of Wemby in the paint, just turn around and pass the ball. He is saying that it is equivalent of a block but is not counted as it in the stats. Wemby could be considered to have much more blocks !!

The team's record for defensive player of the year award is such BS. How is it that Tim Duncan, who has been on the most defensive all teams, never had a losing record and the Spurs were always towards the top during his prime, but never got DPOY? Where did records fit into that??!

Wemby is already the best defensive player in the league... he is DPOY ... Spurs are top 5 in defensive rating when he is on the court, bottom 5 when he's off... CHECKMATE

no one with a brain is going to look back at stats and say yeah gogurt was the dpoy. he's doesn't even stand out. How is the blocks leader he alters every paint shot while in the game not dpoy? if he gets the 35 mins a night he should have he fucking avgs 6 blocks a game. come on.

He does have an impact and alter shots from everywhere. He does get bullied but i wouldnt have a problem with dpoy

He gets bullied but still blocks and makes them miss 7/10 times. You can also tell he sometimes lets them shoot bc if you remember early in his rookie year he was foul trouble heavy.
