This is the reason why Villagers have Big Noses in Minecraft! Is it because they are good at smelling?- or is something else going on..? This Minecraft villager theory is pretty insane!

@Thái Sơn Hoàng Yes,Here is Another theory I made About villagers Another theory: I think Ancient builders gather Prabaskas Monkeys and experiment on them , they cutted their tails and hair but when they released villagers they ended up raging at them and ancient builders left them At a normal plains , the most intelligent one I'll call him ummm, Joe 😄 So joe collected wood and explained everyone to collect wood After everyone collected wood joe said to everyone To start building houses so Everyone did that , but Joe wanted to make their own cummunity so He created some jobs to villagers like , farming , Librarian Etc but some villagers declined for job(Nitwit villagers) And some villagers didn't got job ! After few days after being a whole cummunity they made their own religion to hide their hands ! They Also made a new Species of them which is iron golem! It was very very strong ! After some days a villager found out that some people are doing black magic ! Joe Said all Of them to leave village ! And they all left , they were so angry at villagers , They made their own cummunity called illagers, They created woodland mansions , Their base Like uhh 😬 (Idk it's like tower which some of them live) So as like villagers they created Jobs like vindicator (Most Good at combat) Evoker (Most Good at magic) And some normal combaters, so they wanted to create another being like Iron golem , so they kidnapped some villagers from village at night, And they started To magic on them , they created another being called ravager! And when we find prisons in woodland mansions , the prisons are places Where pillagers did magic on Villagers , and eventually a pandemic Came where 1 infected one infected all ancient builders but villagers created tons of iron golems and then Eventually they survived Pillagers just blocked Gates of woodland mansions and some fought with them Bcz they were better at combat than villagers, And Some of ancient builders who survived made the new portal called end portal and jumped into them luckily they had blocks so they just ran from ender dragon and found Another safe area , they ate chirus fruit which turned them into enderman! And Ancient builders created nether portal But they Sended pigs first Then the pigs who ate fungus turned into hoglin , who ate Nether wart Became piglins and had better intelligence Than villagers, When ancient builders came in Nether they saw soul sand , which is Just Souls of Pigs who wouldn't survive :( They created Fortresses To be safe but most of them who couldn't survive Turned into wither skeleton and most piglins live in bastion which is again created by ancient builders, so ya ikr this comment is wayy too long sorry 😂🤪 Also the wandering trader is Nitwit villagers who Are out of village because they don't do anything !

They can't use their arms for much maybe it's a culture thing as the Illigers who are social outcasts use their arms frequently. Notably the witch still retains with the arm thing and witches don't attack villagers as frequently (Just something to think about)

I honestly believe Illagers split from Villagers during the evolution tree. Then years later the Witches split from Villagers. That could explain the arms. Although Minecraft Legends completely wrecks my theory, it’s still fun to think about.

I really do wonder how it would really look irl though. Minecraft does take some creative liberty on existing animals, so you may need to stretch the imagination a bit with any mob really, which [insert mob] irl art sometimes miss.

@@shweli4326 Yes. But convergent evolution of very human traits (loss of tail, upright posture, human-like society) coming from something derived from a Proboscis Monkey is very unlikely. The fact stated that humans evolved from monkeys is true, but those monkeys had evolved into great apes (which the proboscis monkey is not) long before these traits appeared. That’s like saying a duck evolved from an amphibian by looking at their webbed feet. It’s true, but the trait shared is more of an example of convergent evolution to a similar environment than evidence of shared lineage.

I like this theory! I love the fact that you took a real life example of evolution, and Incorporated it into Minecraft! Btw, I think villagers just use emeralds as a currency for the same reason we use dollar bills (or whatever currency you use). The only things emeralds can do is things other ores can, or things that villagers aren't advanced enough to understand (like acting as a beacon piramid). Likewise, dollar bills are just slips of paper, and don't have any use besides functioning as a currency. This is what separates emeralds from iron or diamonds, which have many uses. This would make sense if your ender pearl theory is correct (which I think it is). They're all valuable because they're worthless

And players use diamonds over emmeralds or gold as currency, for the same reason somone may use gold or silver over paper irl: because the former can't be created artifically and thus is resistant to inflation.

I think that the villager has a long nose to appear more threatening/intimidating a lot like how a cat tries to make itself appear bigger when under attack, the nose as you said is the probably the first feature of the villager that a potential hostile would notice meaning that if this where true that would mean that the original zombies would have not attack the villagers in fear. Then the nose was probably passed as a genetic trait. Zombies will attack them now because the knowledge that the nose is not a weapon has probably been passed down through the generations, brain-hungry creature to brain-hungry creature. This would also explain the noses on the iron golem and ravager, which could be there for intimidation. I'm just a kid though and this is all just speculation

My theory is that villagers were at first proboscis monkyes (bc they look and sound like them), but the totem of undying turned them into villagers and they most of the time hide it. I think that's the reason they also have churches in villages and why is totem of undying that rare to find. Idk, that was the first thing that came to my mind 🤷‍♀️

I thought the villagers evolved from pigs, more specifically pigmen. Their nose is actually a trunk adapted from their snout that use to communication instead of only smelling. That's why they don't have hair, because pigs also don't have. I also believe that their villages and the iron golems weren't build by them, but by instead the ancient builders to help them survive, mainly because villagers are never shown to able to build stuff. And in trade for shelter they would perform labor for the builders, but collecting the crop and creating weapons.

7:16 I thought it was bcs, like the egyptions: they put specialised writing on the walls so in the future, other humans would know that the area was the egyption's terratory Villager's might of placed big noses on the iron golem so the villlagers in the future know the iron golem was made by there kind The ravager.. maybe a villager-sientist was trying a experament (what experamt.. idk) and it went wrong, creating the pillagar, the pillager got (agresivly) pushed out the villige and started his own civilisation, with his pack the diffrentces of pillagars came (like the different kinds of villagers, oak jungle plains ect.)) and they worked together and made a ravager but the leader of the pack made it look diffarent and named it different bcs of the iron golem was the villager's so the pack leader (as i said) made it look different but still had a simalarity to the packs giant noses Like if you think this is the right reason (ripley what you think the reason would be if not)

I want to build on your theory a little. I think that it had the big nose because it evolved from the proboscis monkey, but as they became (slightly) more civilized and intelligent, the nose lost its purpose, but to keep with hierarchy standings, they kept the big nose for the hrm sounds they make that show where they stand in the hierarchy of the village. Just a thought.

i think the villagers noses are how they communicate. those “hmm” noises they make are their actual language. their nose and mouth are separately connected, ie they can only breathe through their noses and eat through their mouths, and so to vocalize their noses can modulate their exhalations to produce different noises. their noses are so large to support the series of flaps and valves that let them make their noises. i also think the difference between villager and illager noises indicate a difference of language.

My theory is that at some point in ancient Minecraft history, the villagers were like us, but at some point in their evolution (possibly around iron age) they were cursed or something removed their ability to speak and use complex communication. This obviously hindered their advancement and it is why they seem to docile, and content (like hobbits rather than humans). They can still use basic communication and remember simple things like house construction and profession. Although they may have recently forgot how to make houses. They evolved the big nose to communicate and attract mates like in the video. The whole thing kind of reminds me of the tower of babel

In the minecraft dungeons book the rise of the arch illager, it says that the villagers arms are stuck together because it is their way of showing that they are peaceful so they have 2 arms and not 1, maybe that is also why the villagers in minecraft have what looks like interconnected arms

First villagers had no noses... As the player Notch asked them to build him a new Mojang office (in minecraft itself) They build a good one but it smelled REALLY bad So Notch gave them very big noses lol

I believe that it was a genetic defect that caused the big noses. This defect was so deep in the genetic code that no amount of evolution could fix it. They eventually got used to it, and even evolved to speak in a language that we players cannot, using their big noses.

The NPC and the agent also has big nose. You can get the NPC and the agent in the special edition of minecraft which minecraft education edition but you can also get them by commands in other editions but the agent don't naturally spawn though so I recommend using the education edition if you are interested

Ravagers might have noises to fake villager mating noises like how a cyclops mimics voices to lure in prey and iron golems might have same nose to make it feel more natural to the villagers or to counter a ravagers voice

They have big noses because their nosey, Always coming into your house, Listening to conversations and trades... I think that this makes the most scents. A Villager always nose when a conversation is going on, and they always sniff out a good trade
