It makes it more confusing on which one to go to. But I still think it's not a total race issue I think there's a few things at play.

In switzerland everyone gets their ballots mailed home without having to register anywhere. Pretty much everyone also votes by mail. I have never even heard of anyone i know actually going to a polling place on voting day.

Voter ID in and of itself is not suppression, but the people it tends to affect are disproportionally the poor; voter ID is not free and will usually require a bunch of documents that sometimes also cost money. There's also an added cost in some States to go to a specific gouvernement office and some of those offices are only open during the weekday/during work hours. Combine all of these together and what you end up is roughly 11% of Americans not having a government issued photo ID (www.brennancenter.org/sites/default/files/legacy/d/download_file_39242.pdf). So I agree with you that it's not suppression in and of itself, but the government should definitely make better attempts at making getting an ID an easier (if not mandatory) process for citizens. The US lags behind many other developed nations when it comes to that.

For some laws to pass you need more than a simple majority. Things like voting locations or districts can be in the hand of the political opponent. I don't want to deny that the management might be poor but it isn't that easy because there are mulitple institutions in an area and if you miss the majority in one of them, process is very diffcult and happens slowly or in the worst case stopped.

In RED Ohio, the state is screwing with the gerrymandered districts, early voting, and absentee ballot drop-offs. BTW I never got to vote in the primaries. They change the day at least 2 times, the web site for mail-in ballot requests crashed and they closed all but one polling places, that one being in downtown Cleveland.

I can't wait to vote for Trump in-person with my photo ID!

Trump has been the only person who has no experience as a politician before becoming president and it shows. But I refuse to accept polls and all of the positive spin on Biden until all is said and done because we were fed the same crap about Hillary, and look what happened there. Why did they make laws that disproportionately affect people of color? Sure they say its to prevent voter fraud. But there has been no evidence of fraud to begin with being about .002 percent. That number hasn't changed at all so what was the point of the law? The laws didnt help fight anything and there are plain statistics that say that the laws effect people of color more often. So if they have that information then why do they not repeal these laws? Its almost like the population percentage of color people in one county plays a huge role.

A lot of people don’t have IDs. I’d be fine with voter IDs that are easy to get, easy to replace, and always free. Driving licenses and ID cards are not those. Some people can’t afford to get a license or ID and don’t have time to get one. This would stop those without the ability to get IDs from voting.

Voter ID laws aren’t about preventing voter fraud, they’re about getting fewer people to vote (pretty unamerican if you ask me), particularly poor people who are less likely to have state-issued id’s. Also, those ID’s cost money. So requiring them in order to vote is tantamount to charging people to vote, which is about as unamerican a thing as I can think of.

Therefore, it timed out/expired in 2017. So, to answer your question, no. This wasn’t an issue back in 2008 or 2012.
