In the post-prequel Arkham games, I.E the Rocksteady Trilogy. Bane Is a mindless human animal. However, in the prequel, Arkham Origins, he was an intellectual who found out Batman's Identity. This video explains how he went from an elite genius villain, to a dumb brute.

Based on the DC Comics superhero Batman, it is the successor to the 2013 video game Batman: Arkham Origins, a direct sequel to Batman: Arkham City (2011) and the fourth main installment in the Batman: Arkham series. Written by Sefton Hill, Ian Ball and Martin Lancaster, Arkham Knight is inspired by the long-running comic book mythos. Set nine months after the events of Arkham City, the game's main storyline follows Batman as he confronts Scarecrow, who has launched an attack on Gotham City and caused a citywide evacuation. Scarecrow, with the help of the mysterious Arkham Knight, plots to unite all of Gotham's criminals in an attempt to finally destroy Batman.

Bane is incredibly intelligent in the comics. During his debut in the Knightfall story arc, Bane deduced Batman’s identity, then frees most of the inmates of Arkham Asylum to wear him down. While Batman was distracted, Bane circumvented the batcave’s security systems and set up an ambush. During the fight, an exhausted Batman got easily beat and Bane snapped his spine, rendering Bruce a paraplegic.

True, just many people will take a first glance at him and think he’s some muscle, like the absolute injustice that was the Batman and Robin movie, which demoted him to a muscle that listens to Poison Ivy for no reason and knows only the word “Bane.” And people who played Arkham Asylum as their introduction to the rest of the Batman mythos would’ve thought the same, since Bane in those games is also just a brute. The Dark Knight Rises and Arkham Origins gave casual-less than casual fans the real Bane, who was an intellectual and physical rival to Batman.

I wouldn’t say Bane matches Batman in exact intelligence but battle tactically wise and wits and awareness in a duel he definitely is near enough if not better because of experience as Batman on that bracket. Batmans villain gallery are mostly very clever bad guys

@@Swhite336Knightfall. He outsmarted Batman by breaking the walls of Arkham Asylum and let all of Batman's rogue gallery out, to the point where it took Batman months to return them. Then, Bane was at the manor already and proceeded to beat a tired Batman. And instead of killing Batman, he breaks his spine over his knee.

Well, actually, Arkham Knight has an article about Bane that makes up for previous games. He came home, saw that drug cartels terrorise innocent people and started to eradicate criminals like some kind of Red Hood because Bane isn't dumb he's just... Sometimes a bit too blinded by rage. When he's calm he's pretty strategic.

For the elevator scene I like to think that bane calculated the weight of the elevator when he stepped into it and could tell he was weighing down the elevator more then usual suggesting someone else is on it with him you can tell by his facial expression he was looking at the floor just before he looked up realizing there’s only one place the extra weight could be coming from

Bane was actually the first person in the entire Arkham series outside of the batfamily to discover Batmans identity,and this was when he was still considered a myth to Gotham and bane discovered it within a single knight but riddler hasn’t even come close to finding out his identity.

People keep forgetting that in his comics debut, Bane organized a massive jailbreak, ensuring that Batman would be focused on recapturing all of his rogues, just to wear Batman down so he could be broken. It's only due to Batman & Robin that people came to view him as a dumb brute.

in arkham knight, you can find a riddle in a container with bane’s old stuff. when you scan it you can read a story about bane. bane was recovering from his addiction and moved away, and he started taking down drug lords and cartels. it’s a pretty cool detail to me

This is a case of them finally going with the comic accurate version of bane. People forget that in the comics, bane was a brilliant military tactician who, like the game, was one of the few villains to find out who batman was on his own and set up a targeted attack on the manor and the batcave.

Its hinted at in arkham knight that he gotvoff venom and went back to his homeland to help out the people there. I think it was a missed opportunity to have a cutscene (maybe hidden like killer croc in city) where he shows his respect to batman and calls him by bruce showing that he remembers the events of origins but kept it a secret

A lot of villains resemble parts of what makes Batman. Two-face t his devotion to good as well as his frustration at his ineffectiveness. Mr. Freeze his sadness over his lost loved ones. The joker, his inner chaos, which he constantly battles. Bane represents his anger, Bane is intelligent, and cunning, but he hands it over for the sake of raw, satisfying power, in an attempt to shortsightedly brute force his way to victory. There are many times when Batman could probably just break everyone's bones and get the job done, but violence becomes predictable, and Bruce knows he must balance his strength with his tactics if he wants to remain ahead. Bane fell short of that ideal.

Though in the Arkham verse he was able to heal post Arkham City by not using the venom no more by the time of Arkham Knight and taking control of his home from those who threatened it. Which mind you takes intellectual thinking on how to properly execute said plan.
