The Thriller Effect

The Thriller Effect

Күн бұрын

The Jackson 5 have run the circuit and won the golden ticket to Motown. Berry Gordy will definitely run them through their paces since he really wasn't at the filmed audition at Hitsville. Berry was busy in Hollywood. Berry Gordy's new El Dorado is Hollywood. He's been a hitmaker and now he wants blockbusters.
The music industry may be changing under him. He's more prepared than he realizes. In an era that will bring forward the Osmond's, the Partridge family, and the Brady Bunch, he has the Jackson 5. The talented family from Gary, Indiana led by the future King of POP! Michael Jackson's talent along with his brothers' as well as a solo Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder are about to replace the pure pop soul of Motown's 60's acts.
Holland Dozier Holland has left the fold for "greener" pastures. New to Motown are the youngsters Alphonse Mizell, Freddie Perren, Larry Mizell and Deke Richards. Berry will dub them the Corporation and for 4 years the Corporation will pen and produce SMASH hits for the Jackson 5. I want You back, ABC, The Love you save, I'll be there, Ben, Never Can say goodbye, Dancing Machine, Sugar Daddy, I wanna be where you are, and all the rest of the Jackson 5''s hits. Utilizing the mature soul of Michael Jackson and the commercial appeal of the Jackson 5, the Corporation which included Berry Gordy made the Jackson 5 the perfect transition for the Motown of the 1970's.
It's wild to think that the Michael Jackson that became the KING OF POP was in the midst of generational talent from even before he entered Hitsville. Gladys Knight, the Chi-Lites, the 5 Stairsteps, the Emotions, Sam & Dave, Joe Simon, Jackie Wilson, the Miracles and The Godfather of Soul James Brown all crossed paths with Mj, Joseph and the Jackson 5 long before Michael reached age 10. There are varying accounts as to what level of hysteria they engendered.
By July 1968 they had a choice. TV or Motown. They chose Motown. They took a ride with Bobby Taylor to Detroit and auditioned. They still weren't cleared for takeoff. Even though they had positive feedback there were roadblocks.
This video exposes the roadblocks as well as the problems Motown was having up and down the roster.

I love your style. This isn't just a mini documentary. It's art. The editing, sound, graphics are all on point. I'm trying to focus on the story, but the editor and artist in me keeps me focusing on the look and feel lol. Even the open title sequence is amazing. I hope your subs skyrocket after the biopic is released. You absolutely do your research. Great work!

This is a really dope documentary! I am a huge Motown & MJ fan so this is golden. Holland-Doizer-Holland, outside of Smokey, were the key factors to Motown. Berry was a greedy chump. He didn’t look out for those artists like he should have. May they all rest in peace 🙏🏽✨ -SOL

Around that time, he began buying up all of his competition too.... Ric Tic/Wingate, Golden World, Inferno etc....he eviscerated all of those labels and their masters and artists all became property and artists for Motown. Some he would push, others he would let go... The Fantastic Four and Edwin Starr came from Ric Tic and Golden World. He kept them.

@@kyleday5026 okay. Then I'm delusional. You don't have the right to be astute on a life you didn't participate in. All I see was the positive results. Now Joe was out of they're lives by the time they hit 18. Michael was making his own moves. After awhile you have to leave the nest. Joe was there for Michael all through his court cases. Yes. He didn't take no mess. He was raising Blackmen in where? America. America the great. Post civil rights era. So yes I'm delusional and will remain delusional. His children were Black and Born in America. Gary, Indiana. Somebody had to step up. His Father did. Let Joe rest.

It’s the classic case of a Blessing & a Curse!!! Joe had many Children with Katherine & HE DID NOT LEAVE!!! During those days it was VERY CHALLENGING to raise Children & they had 3 Girls & 7 BOYS (Marlon’s twin Brother Brandon died shortly after birth)!!! And EVERYBODY knows raising BOYS ARE MORE DIFFICULT THAN GIRLS, because of the draw of the STREETS!!! Did Joe do some FKD UP THINGS? Yes! But I really believe, had he left, MJ, Tito & Jermaine may’ve been successful with music, but who knows!!! But one thing that CANNOT BE DENIED….. JOE JACKSON TOOK CARE OF HIS FAMILY!!!! “Hate him or Love him, the UNDERDOGS WERE ON TOP! And ALL OF THEM SHINED until Joe’s & Mike Jax’s HEARTS 💕 STOPPED!!!”

I enjoy the subject and effort put into these videos but the break-neck speed of editing and overuse of effects and AI kind of puts a damper on the work and gives me a headache, makes it harder to follow along. I would recommend toning and slowing all that down, obviously you're making videos for adults, not children who often need new images and transitions on the screen to keep their attention. The old fashioned music documentary style (with clips of interviews, VOs over still images, footage spliced in etc) is tried and true for a reason 😊 just some constructive criticism
