Meanwhile the character that played Trickstar in the anime had a horrendous win-lose record.

Aside from droll+reincarnation, trickstars always seemed like the most fair meta deck to me. It never had these insane plays all of the time, just solid consistency while chipping at the opponent with smaller monsters and a little bit of extra help from small burn effects.

Trickstar Archetype: The Yu-Gi-Oh archetype that punishes your opponents for simply playing the game.

I started playing with Trickstars, this deck make me learn the game very fast even with low budget. My first local tournament I toped 2°after playing for half of the year, I was crushed by a pendulum deck, I was so happy. Then when shaddoll showdown has released I maneged to win at locals with trickstars shaddoll, after those 3 years, I could make they be at the center of the stage. They are very special to me, even if my deck sucks because of my budget, they made a lot of people cry saying "it's unfair", without reincarnation, called, topologic bomber. That's a piece of days of glory. Thanks for the good times, I love all of trickstars (even the fusion that sucks)

Trickstar probably my personal favorite link deck. As soon as lightstage got limited I almost stop playing the deck. Now I play it as a burn deck that purely takes advantage by banishing my stuff and my opponent stuff and summoning stuff like Gran Maju. Hopefully it at some point gets some awesome support at some point.

Honestly, I love these kind of history and analysis videos, so much to learn and so much to really appreciate how archetypes are mixed and even stand alone. Funnily enough, I love SS and Draco, but I wasn't around to try the Trickstar and SS variant. But, by far, the one deck that scared the crap out of me, was SS Orcust. Like I know Eldlich is around and there is a debate on which is superior as a control deck, but SS Orcust and what it was able to do, that was pretty terrifying.

So i just started back into playing yugioh after like a 20 year break after the first generation came out, well i stopped when egyptian gods released, but just created this deck on master duel and its fun, it made a odd-eyes player quit after the 2nd turn and funny when players choose to use maxx c against trickstar decks

Omg, I cry in the last the part; I’m a huge fan for fairy archetype since DM until pendulums, i have a solfachord deck and it have crazy summons, destruction and recovery for me always was meh…then I was in negation to start playing with link monster and then I saw crazy plays of people who get defeated in turn 1-2 and only doing burn damage. And after video after video the most intrigued I was; my favorite archetype so far, love the consistency, the recovery and synergy but over all that is a very very fun deck to play and of course the WTF of the oppents when fairy’s with 2000 or less ATK defeated them. This video is a treasure.

Amongst my fave Link Deck. The Firewall Dragon combo was so broken, and the Reincarnation/Lock combo simply destroyed Hands.

14:14 Blade, the feeling of staring down a 1900 body before Corobane came out was so frightening. There was the entire going 2nd Spyral format/end of 2017 post e-banlist/early 2018 where Trickstar couldn't out normal summon Spyral Tough and had to unironically run Honest in their deck. :(

Honestly these might be the only fairy type cards I would use.

I'm not sure if I agree with you when you said that trickstar was a tier 1 deck, at least not 100%. Sure, it was the second best deck on gouki extra link format, but only that. I think that trickstar was a tier 1 "engine", if we can make that statement. Trickstar was a complementary engine for combos or some unfair things (everyone who takes the infamous FTK droll + reincarnation will agree with that), and have some moment under the sun, but a really quickly one. Unlike invoked for exemple, that not only was an engine for decks that doesn't uses the normal summon, but get the protagonism. Nice work, and nice vídeo. This tipe of vídeo with history and discussion are my favorite ones. Keep doing that! You have subs for brazilians that really like you.

Trickstar started as the best vrains deck, and ended as one of the weakest(of the ones that succeeded), and something you forgot to mention was the savage strike era where colossus started to ruin the searching the deck did, and reincarnation became a huge plus for the thunders.

Why was trickstar Tier 1 I've played the deck for the full amount of its life time every variant of it possible and got some tops with it I can say with complete honesty that there is no other deck in the game that is like trickstar it was only ever tier one because other decks that were played at this time were easy to take apart and to get down to a simplified game state I'm still waiting for the day when light stage is at 3 again :)

I love your deck history videos. Just not trickstars. Lol my friend played the hell out of them for pretty much its entire meta relavence. On the upside because my friend played them so often it helped me b better prepared for when i topped a regional with mekk knight invoked. Knew how to navigate that match up pretty well. :)

Tl;dw force draw banish burn and 1 card combos, literally all the top tier effects needed plus a 1 card engine

I was testing my Galaxy-Eyes deck after Sol Flare was released I went against Trickstar and until I summoned Sol Flare I was losing and had like 2000 life points left once I got it out i started winning slowly. Hardest fought win I had while testing that deck (most other times I was either OTKing or being OTKed). Trickstar earned my respect during that game.

I think someone mentioned this on a recent video, but adding 1 or 2 clips of the deck being played at a tournament setting would be cool. For example, it would have been a fitting end to this video to have footage of Wang Ching closing out the WC final and/or hoisting the trophy (or even the hilarious Lullaby of Obedience mishap).

The best part about Trickstar is they were a modern burn deck that actually did more than burn. Too bad they're terrible at link summoning their own monsters without losing advantage.

I don't know who needs to hear this but: 1. Trickstars can utilize Dark Room of Nightmare for 3k damage *per card drawn*. 2. In order to circumvent their relatively low defensive capabilities one *could* use Waking The Dragon to special summon easy clap monsters like Blackwing Full Armor Master, or Clear Wing Synchro Dragon/Draco Berserker of The Tenyi if you're not filthy rich (I also run Number 101 Silent Honor Ark and Gamaciel for those annoying hard to remove monsters), Also, can someone please clarify how Dark Room amplifies Bella Madonna's burn effect? Is it only +300 damage for the entire effect or does it apply individually for each monster in the graveyard?

This video is misleading. Pure Trickstar was never Tier 1. The best "pure" variant was burn but other decks like Zoodiac were better at the time and they pretty much auto lost to pendulum magician because of Trapeze. After that other Tier 1 decks used Trickstar as an engine, but you can't call it a "Trickstar" deck at that point.

It was tier 1 because it carried me to a 3rd place finish at a kisseme regionals
