I think you're missing something very important. The clones, especially the CC's were brothers. Brothers rag on each other, to outside observers it looks callous and insensitive. It only looks like that from the outside. Add to that, the clones were engineered to be blindly obedient, and at the tender real time age that most humans are still in elementary school, the physically full grown children, were thrust into the most horrific kind of warfare imaginable. Add to that, the fact the Kaminoans would recycle-reclaim "defective" clones, i.e. these that demonstrated abhorrent behavior, such as empathy, the clones had to mask their feelings, just to survive training. They were still emotionally developing, but were forced to hide their true selves, for fear of being destroyed as defective. And yet, morbid as their banter sounded, they expressed their loyalty, and affection for each other, in a way that the sociopathic Kaminoans wouldn't be able to recognize.
@mattpons410

Human nature is monstrous, by default, as it is instinctively self-focused and self-centered. Humans aren't "inherently good". Empathy, compassion, and sympathy are LEARNED. Either by example, or by recognizing the absence of what one wishes had been. The clones had no idea what was missing, what would fill that emptiness, but they found a version of it, in the worst situation possible, and if the Traviss books are any indication, it never stopped growing. THEY never stopped growing.

Companies are just by and large unwilling to go for that Mature rating for their games because they see it as a risk to their profits due to a reduced potential audience. I’ve gotta wonder if the Commandos we’re still seeing were subjected to the same or similar chip-enhancer treatment we see Crosshair undergo in S1 to keep them loyal, and/or if most of them are just particularly loyal clones or even high-ranking War Mantle recruits in katarn armor. I think the former case is probably the most valid explanation for reconciling pre- and post-New Order Scorch’s depictions, even though Lucasfilm doesn’t really owe anything to the Republic Commando game.

They’re ruthless when they have their target in sight, but they don’t typically resort to violence when it serves literally no purpose. Had they not found Omega, pretty sure they would resort to an old tactic of rounding everyone up and killing people one by one until she’s given up/turns up herself. But that scene we got - why would they gun them down? Chill out with the ‘atrocities’, man.

Commandos were built differently. They worked behind enemy lines on a regular base, so basically, they needed to be brutal - Especially in case of getting discovered by enemies and prevent them from ringing the alarm bell. Sev is a great example of Commando's brutality... Not even Regs were immune to this, just look at Commander Faie... And to the CX trooper where many think it may be Tech... we know there's a bunch of them. I do have another theory who they may have been before: Covert Ops troopers and/or clone assassins. You know, the fraticidal nutcases... They don't have ID numbers, just as the CX troopers don't have these. Their physical fitness and agility also fits...

It's hard to see Clones as villains now, but just like when it comes to the Republic itself, when it comes to the Clones there are good ones like Rex, Cody, Wolffe, the Bad Bbatch, and many others, but there are also evil ones like a lot of Commandos. And seeing how ruthless Scorch can be I made the right call in my future Battle of Cato Neimodia fanfic by having him and the rest of the Delts being the ones to start burning the grub hatcheries during the battle despite Obi-Wan, Anakin, Rex, Cody, and a few others telling them not to. I mean it's completely horrible but at least it will be accurate. Also to answer your question I don't believe it's Tech because if it was he would have remembered Ppabu and gone right there, instead he had to give the info out of Sid than hack into Vee's ship to find it. So clearly it's a Clone who didn't know about Pabu before hand. It could be Cody, but there are other Clones it could be like Slick or Dogma.

Personally I feel the “rule” evolved throughout the Clone Wars, at least in Canon. At the start, Clone Troopers were pretty much how Palpatine wanted them. They followed orders without question, only had birth numbers, and didn’t think much about individuality. Sure there were units like Domino Squad and the Bad Batch in training, but they were considered defective exceptions. Throughout the Clone Wars though, things change. The Jedi act as a major positive influence over most Clone Troopers leading to the adoption of names, coloring their armor, doing their hair, and adopting some of the morals of the Jedi. I will concede that this change wasn’t universal. Obviously any Clone not under the command of a Jedi like the Clone Commandos isn’t going to change as much. Clones serving under guys like Tarkin will be more receptive to the Galactic Empire. Then we get to Order 66 and the rise of the Galactic Empire. At first the Clones are under the control of the inhibitor chips, but they’re awake the whole time. They’re likely confused about the Jedi being traitors, but by the time the chips wear off the Jedi are long gone. So at first all Clones decide to just go with the flow. To them, things still seem to be the same besides the absence of the Jedi. Palpatine is still in charge and the military is still being supported by the public and the Senate, and Separatists holdouts still persist. Imperial atrocities and other morally questionable acts would make most Clones in my opinion uncomfortable, but most won’t say anything because as much as the Jedi changed them, most Clones still would rather follow orders than disobey them. They never had to think too much about the issue since orders from the Jedi rarely would put them in morally dark territory. Eventually though the war crimes might get too much, especially when Clones get phased out despite their years of service. Nothing like an outright rebellion or even mass protests, but love and loyalty for the Empire compared to the Republic is going to be extremely low. Most Clones are not going to be Imperial Patriots or Fanatics like Scorch, his Commandos, or the CX Troopers. I get where Geetsly is coming from with the Clone Wars being made for younger audiences, but by this point it’s set the tone for what the Canon version of the Clone Wars is. To folks like me, Canon Clones and Legends Clones are different and I prefer the former over the latter.

@@leonrussell9607 First, questionable quality? Second, I think there are folks online who would point out which episodes are relevant to the modern shows. Third, what’s wrong with continuity? Heck, Legends constantly had novels and comics have characters and planets from other stories pop up. Heck, look at Tales of the Jedi and check out the trailer of Tales of the Empire. They have stories that fill in blanks on the lives of characters. We’ll see more of Barriss and see how Thrawn and Morgan became comrades. We already saw how Anakin’s training helped Ahsoka and what Dooku was up to during the Phantom Menace.

It was kind of an odd choice for the writers to pick clone commandos to be the loyal stooges to some degree. Not that I think Commando loyalty would be in question, but why has Filoni introduced new 'shadow operatives' and reduced the clone commandos to base guards? Couldn't commandos be the elite operatives and, I dunno, those Covert Ops troopers from the EU be the ones guarding the base? Or, better yet, reuse the Kaminoan Security Troopers, since they fit with the general aesthetic as well with their grey and white uniforms, extreme loyalty and distinctive Kaminoan-esque markings. Why not instead of Scorch being the commander, have the unnamed Kaminoan Security officer from the TCW Chip Conspiracy arc be Hemlock's chief lackey? Then the writers could use Scorch and Delta Squad in their actual capacity.

Using a blaster on a KID, (Jax), was the DARKEST moment that I've ever witnessed in S.W. history. As a teacher 👨🏻‍🏫 of elementary school kids, I was HORRIFIED seeing this. It is the SINGLE MOST DARKEST EVENT that I have ever seen in all 47-ish years of Star Wars.

Neither was more common than the other is right. IMO. I think the more common trooper was the " i was just following orders" kind of troopers. Just like in the real world. It fits perfect for your second channel. Very few troopers that enjoyed killing and overall psychopaths (SS) and very few people that are willing to stand up to evil. (resistance) I wouldn't even put the Allied forces in that category. Both fall under that middle ground. The Wermacht those that werent avid Nazis were too scared to stand up to them out fear of the consequences. And the Allies were willing to let the Nazis bully their neighbors until it affected them personally. Including the Americans. I think it retroactively became a righteous war.

Just Seperatist propaganda, Commandos are heroes. Honestly though, I understand they kind of ignore or repurpose most things like Republic Commando to suit their own needs, but I couldn’t even imagine there being so many commandos considering how independent and bonded with the Mandalorians they were. Not to mention that clone shouldn’t have even been scorch to begin with, fans say it enough until it becomes a minor amount of useless fanfare in the way of a name that doesn’t last long. Man done dirty and the rest of the squad’s whereabouts unknown and Sev is just up in the air since they don’t have to recognize the events of Republic Commando. That was definitely not originally Scorch, and the characterization (which was minimal) was enough to see that but now he’s dead because people wanted it to be scorch so much.

I think you have to keep in mind, that it's pretty clear you're actually mixing continuity too much here. Disney made a choice, a pretty daft one at that, and ignored massive chunks of source material. Additionally, Filoni made the questionable choice to cop out and make Order 66 something the cones had no choice in. So, for the purposes of Filoni's brand, thus is highly irregular. In a more cohesive, and realistic setting, the actions discusses in this episode would be positively tame. But, he wanted to draw "clear" distinctions between good and evil in his shows. Therefore, as he didn't care how much he altered the story, there is no need to try and justify using source material he likely ignored anyway.

A lot of people also like to say “But the comics said most Commandos didn’t like Order 66 and didn’t betray the Republic” and conveniently forget those comics are no longer canon. The new way the Commandos are presented in the new canon makes more logical sense. The Commandos are more capable and more dangerous and therefore more useful to the Empire. Therefore, they are much more likely to have been seen as too precious of an asset to simply have not received extra measures to ensure their loyalty and ease of control. You don’t make an elite operator without the assurance that you will be able to safeguard that investment in time and resources. So it then makes sense for why the Commando force is still well under the Empire’s control.

Also, anyone who says that most commandos didn't like Order 66 is just flat out wrong. Yes, a few squads went AWOL because of the order, such as Omega Squad and Ion Team, but most commandos had no issue with it, such as Aiwha Squad. Most commandos in Legends stayed loyal to the Empire and ended up being retasked with hunting down remaining Jedi.
