Look...I have been working fulltime for 24 years now and still have 19 to go. This shit gets old. 10 years as a waitress/bartender, 8 years as a logistics proffessional and now already 6 years as a busdriver. Im not narcicistic I just don't think this is what life was meant to be (like)...what am I? There is more to life then money and economy. 43 years of fulltime work to get a 40% income drop when you retire. Great stuff.....

My first job was dishwasher in 2008 and I was very happy at my job, my manager was like my second father and we were supportive one another, sure we had our bad days but I did my work religiously, I worked there for 4 years.. now its rare to find a manager that cares for his employees, I skip job to job and I find that it's not normal that I dont like to go to work.. but idk why I hate it..

I enjoy my work. The other workers in my department enjoy the work. The issue is the micromanaging and constant needling from people who don’t actually do our jobs. These managers and supervisors are hired from outside, they don’t actually know the work that’s done and they are focused on making themselves look good to whoever they answer to, not in getting the work done. They create extra tasks and burdens for workers, masked as “solutions” to impress their own boss at workers expense. Creating problems so they can solve them. I’ve seen so many smooth-running departments get mangled by micromanaging monkey wrenches. Edit to say: to your point, this is due to a removal of the connection between the businesses owners and the worker. The installation of these managers and supervisors create larger and larger gaps between the workers and the owners. I’m sure the owners love that they don’t have to know the details and have relationships with workers. Makes it easier to be greedy and less empathetic.

I think the reason why we dread going to work is because work lacks the overall experiences that humans require. Work for work sake lacks joy, spirituality and direction. It’s a chore. Inorder to survive, we do jobs we don’t really want to do. When we work for material gains with no long term rewards, it leads to negative feelings. Majority of what we do in a 9-5 is not for our personal spiritual benefit and eventually the spirit with get tired of the day to day repetition. There is no challenge to the human mind, no change. This is the difference between liking and loving what you do. If you find a workaholic, ask them and they’ll tell you that they had to shut off certain parts of their minds or emotions and focus on the goals they have in mind. This is not necessarily a good thing because humans need a balanced surrounding to be productive and happy.

This was quite enlightening, yet I feel that it has to get "worse" before it can get better. People worked out side the home for so long, leaving children to emotionally fend for themselves. This is an opportunity for people (having no where to go) to realize their own emotional disconnect by first being physically present to see the behaviors of their off-springs and/or others who are close to them and have NO choice but to make adjustments. To make adjustments to oneself can get worse before it gets better but afterwards it will reflect within self, close relationships, then the world. Thank you for all you do!

Well I don't hate my work -- I hate that we're short staffed and everyday I have to work 2-4 hours overtime. The pay is great, but the wear and tear of physical labor on the body? The lack of breaks because gps is on my person at all times? the bosses who try to play mind games with me and manipulate my emotions? Yeah, I hate all that. -- On my off time, I write books. On days off, if the house is clean, I'll write all day -- I love that work. Hopefully, if I put enough time and energy into the book writing, I can change careers and get an income from books alone. That would be work I would love beyond loving.

The truth about work is this. If you do not own any land or do not own the means of production and have to sell your labour in order to eat you are a slave pure and simple. Unfortunately the slaves at the 'bottom of the pyramid' have it the worst even though their work is the 'most important of the lot' ie., street cleaners, sewage workers etc these are the folks that keep the pyramid and they get a very very very bad deal.

Prof vaknin, I'm going to vent a little bit and throw some thoughts out there, wether you read them or not is up to you. I don't know if you've ever said this before but something I've been thinking about a lot lately when it comes to the narcissism subculture online is that these narcissism videos could be a form of narcissistic supply for us survivors? I know we aren't exactly narcissists ourselves but we definitely do absorb traits after the abuse and I know that when I watch narcissism videos, they become addictive and give me this satisfying feeling which Id assume would be comparable to narcissistic supply but when I tried to warn other victims about this in the community, although many agreed, I was also met with anger and they told me the videos saved them and there's nothing wrong with watching them (which is true in small doses but I mean constantly, not sometimes). We are constantly gaslit and told we're horrible so when we watch these videos, we become addicted to being told we're not what they say we are, sorta like a confirmation bias high 😅 I've backed away from the narcissism community online, the toxicity and lack of self awareness gets really irritating, especially when the people making the videos don't even acknowledge their faults either and feed this cycle of babying the victim, trapping them by making them watch all their videos constantly and then eventually the victim does the same thing and so on a so fourth so eventually no one really recovers, they just become obsessed with learning and teaching about narcissism and never really free themselves (me included sometimes). Anyway I'm rambling, that was just some word vomit, I hope there was a point in there somewhere 😅 your videos are the only ones I watch nowadays if I actually need help with something or if I need to be factual. if you made it this far, it would be cool if you could make videos on narcissistic friends, preferably female. I know it's not normal and they might not even be a narcissist, maybe borderline but I had a girl turn everyone against me, copy everything about me, stole all my friends that she hardly knew, got me banned from my favourite venues over lies and then one day she took me to court and claimed I threatened to kill her, I stalk her, I'm obsessed etc etc. She used projective identification and literally drove me insane at some points. I won the court case but it was quite traumatic this situation. I'm still trying to fix my life but sometimes I feel so lost because there's not much information online about friends doing the abuse, it's always about significant (insignificant) others or parents and the court stuff is always about divorce, never your friend taking you to court before you can so they can frame you as the abuser. Thank you for coming to my TEDxTALK 😅

However alarming, this was a great watch. Thank you. I didn't think the adage "first generation builds, second runs it, and third ruins it" applied to wider society as a whole, but it seems so. Rebuilding post war over a century, the generations there on have been, perhaps unwittingly, moulded by such a mindset up to this point.
