Married so it is not my decision. We live in the Oregon Cascades but I have always wanted to own a sail boat and travel the world. No destination but just enjoy life. Regardless we have a travel trailer and travel much of the PNW and points beyond. Life is good when wife is happy.

Many are likely more attracted to another sailing couple who now have a baby as well starring in the show... however I feel Ben and Ashley are more real in showing the real life of cruisers who went of the grid.

Truly Inspirational. We are plotting our escape, down to an 8 year plan now. We have the boat! No circumnavigation for us, just marina hopping the US and Bahamas.

The wifey and I truly enjoy tagging along with you kids on your boat and looking over your shoulders as you enjoy life. At 73 and 62 with physical limitations it would be a bit tough to ride through those storms at sea. However having served in the USCG and been in both a nasty hurricane and later a typhoon on cutters I would love to bounce around out there again,,,,maybe a little less violent but the ride is magnificent. Oh and I'd prefer a hammock if possible for those "rolly" anchorages. MikeC

I applaud and loath the release of a new video from you guys as I pretty much cry at the waste of my life it seems while watching … I feel like I have hit rock bottom but have so much dependent on me getting up every morning to the mundane monotony that is my life currently … You two are amazing and I dream of my 'retirement' on my sailboat alone adrift at sea and that seems like the only thing that keeps me going, well my young girls of coarse are the reason as well that I am not adrift at sea at the moment as well... Great content, keep it going forever, but I want to see a school on "How to live at sea for life!" in the future! TYLY

We did something similar by giving up the careers in the UK in our 40's and moving to beautiful NS Canada!! (And just officially became Canuck citizens this week!). The boat dream is still on the list though. Through sharing your decision and amazing vids more and more people are realizing that there really is more to life. We are self employed - have way less spare cash and still have a mortgage - but do what we love and get to live in an amazing community and with a white sandy beach at the bottom of the garden (yard)! Like you and so many others fore-going the hamster wheel we can all say "We win" !! Fair winds and thanks for sharing.

Lots of truth here for those who can and will take a chance on a different life. I spent 10 years visiting hospitals and assisted-living homes with my two therapy dogs. Logged visits with more than 30,000 people, many at the brink of the end, and they are candid and open up to you. What do people regret? What they never did, could have done, wish they had done. Too many leave this world with dreams, not with memories.

Being able to quit a 9-5 has restrictions that in some cases are out of our control. Like health issues. Aside from that, it's a matter of planning, money, and learning to live life in a whole different way than what we are used to. Oddly enough....my "happy place" is in the ocean or in the Sky. In our situation, I can fly and still be close enough to medical needs, but it requires I work for our health benefits. You guys are truly living the dream many of us have. And part of the reason I sought you out was because you never know what the future holds. Perhaps one day things might change, and I will always remember and keep everything you guys have passed on to us as one of my favorite options.

This is great that you two have the nerves to take risk. Most of us professionals are always concerned about the "coins" we make. We know that time is a constant variable and it is always moving forward. If there was an emergency, is there a plan? Sorry to be so intrusive. However, I think your lifestyle is healthy but as an engineer, I calculating the expense. Also, the beautiful CAT you are on cost. Can you help the general audience with cost breakdown. Godspeed to you and wishing you the best mate. Thanks for sharing your dream with the rest of us chickens who worries about tomorrow. It's interesting, as a Christian, we are taught over and over that God provides our needs. I have seen God love for me but I guess we still like to take total control of our life but in the end, we control nothing ... Take care and thanks again. If you need a deckhand, I'm free while I'm in between jobs. .... Nothing in life is permanent, but God's love 😉 If you take me up on my offer, I'll pick up my dive gear from Asia and come see you ...
