I know this video is 3 years old, but I want to thank you. I’m downsizing and moving right now and my anxiety is at an all time high. But watching this series has been really helpful in processing my emotions and recognizing that stuff is stuff and I need to focus on what is essential, not what I think is essential.

As a expat I can totally relate with the feelings of not be able to see the family and the little things that make us feel at home. Can't wait to see the incredible things that you will do in this new phase.

Ooh yes come to the Netherlands! I'm from there :) it's a great place to live. Public transport's great and you can cycle everywhere. Good health care system and everyone speaks English so it'll be easy to settle in. It can be difficult to make friends as a foreigner here though I've heard. A lot of Dutch people have very close knit friend groups and are hesitant to let new people in I think. As for where in the Netherlands to live, I would recommend living in Utrecht over Amsterdam personally. It's a charming city, but a little bit smaller and with less exposure to excessive drugs/tourism/sex industry.

Hubby and I are kinda doing a similar thing to you guys but within the UK. We are downsizing our stuff and moving to a cheaper area so we can focus on saving for a house. This pandemic caused us to loose our income for 6 months and before that we lost 20% of our income which we were saving so effectively our house buying got put back a year. We won’t be moving to a smaller place but because of the pandemic and the distance movers are out of our budget right now so I’m doing the essential/non essential process as well. We have to fit everything into 1 van and a couple of cars so it’s going to be like a giant game of Tetris! Good luck with your move 💜

as someone who cried when I handed over the keys to my first forever home - I really dig how emotional you are about stuff like rugs. I get really attached to home, literally and conceptually. like REALLY CRAZY attached...can't nobody tell me nuthin but if I took time to listen to the universe I would know that with art and with homes, we are just the temporary stewards of these miniscule bits that comprise civilization. we leave our marks and they stick sometimes (Persepolis) and sometimes we disappear...a heroine of mine is Dolley Madison who risked her life to save all the art in the White House before it was burned to the ground. and that fire (war of 1812 maybe?)is why our White House is flat pack! like a piece of ikea furniture, it can be taken down and reassembled elsewhere in case disaster strikes. because it always does people!

We lived in a small house for 25 years. Twenty years ago, our youngest finished college and we bought a 2BR. condo near a public library and commuter train station. We were able to retire in our 50's. Everyone has a different dream. By being frugal, we traveled instead of owning lots of stuff. Tina

Hey as a Dutch just saying Amsterdam is really expensive living and it has a lot of issues with drugs around and stuff. Just giving a warning if you didn't know. ♡

TV is overrated. I chucked my TV 15 years ago and never bought a new one.. Now I just wish my stupid neighbor would get rid of theirs instead of blasting it until all hours of the morning T_T
