We planted lemon balm around our back patio. It does work well for the mosquitoes! And tries to takeover a little, especially from the seeds. But the finches and other small birds LOVE the seeds in winter. They come in small flocks and entertain our cats (from the window) for hours. Thank you so much for all your information about herbs and medicinal plants! It’s helping me keep things in our yard that will maintain our health.

Lemon balm helped my mom get over major panic attacks after losing a loved one. She kept thinking she was having heart issues. She kept going in and getting it checked out and getting clear diagnosis. I introduced her to lemon balm three times a day then twice a day then once a day then none and she's good to go

This makes so much sense! I started growing lemon balm this year but was waiting to harvest it until the end of the season when it would have a full season of growth. Now I know that I’ll have to wait until next year to get the best quality cuttings!

5 years ago or so, I started lemon balm in a 5 inch pot I dug at my daughter's. Now it is really everywhere. I cut it off 4 times or more, it just grows😁 When in the garden we have mosquitos like crazy this year, so I rip of some lemon balm and feverfew at times, or catnip and rub it on my skin, works like magic👍

I started Lemon Balm from seed this year. I planted my starts in large feed barrels, I,v harvested them 3 times this season, I guess the poor things have given up from trying to go to seed ..lol I,v made a quart of tincture, a half gallon jar and a quart jar for teas. I love the stuff! Thank you Doc. Jones for all your great information. Have a Blessed day.

My husband came down with of all things Hand Foot and Mouth!!! So I made a tea with lemon balm, sage, and thyme because they are antiviral. He soaked his feet in it and we both drank the tea. His Hand Foot and Mouth went away quickly. So far I never got it. Yeah!. The tea was very good. Liemon flavored!!😄😄😄😄

Oh my goodness, where have you been all these years? I have always harvested my lemon balm in the fall and it has always worked very well for what I use it for (lip balm for fever blisters). I am so happy to know that it will work so much better if I harvest it sooner in the season!!! By the way, your lemon balm is amazingly healthy looking!

You may want peel and de-seed 2-3 cucumbers, and 2 cups of water and run through a blender. Strain and save the water, ( pulp can go to compost). Add 4 cups of lemon balm tea, juice of one lime or lemon ( about 1/4 cup) and 1/3 cup of sugar or honey. This makes a great refreshing drink . I make cucumber juice ice cubes so we can have this all tear long. Works well with peppermint tea, too,

Just made a delicious pesto of the leaves (July). So nice with tomatoes and cottage cheese on toast, hmmm. I just wonder how to stop it from spreading too much. Are the seeds or the roots the problem..? I will trim everything to the ground now, since flowers are coming into them atm. I do not want them to go between my tiles.

Everything in the mint family loves growing wild on my property but the one that takes over every year is pennyroyal. It's beautiful and smells wonderful but do you have any suggestions for its use since it's not recommended to take internally?

@@simplethymes1202 I remember buying flea collars infused with pennyroyal oil for my dogs years ago. They were taken off the market because of absorption through the skin that caused toxic reactions in some pets. I wonder if it would be safe to make sachets from the dried plant to put around the dogs' bedding.

Seems to do well in “dappled light”, so close to full sun, but with opportunity for some shade, like sunny leafy shade. “It” will tell you where it grows best… that’s what I found. 😌♥️

I just bought some dried Lemon Balm and it smelled like alfalfa. I know you stated in other videos that maybe it's just me because everyone experiences herbs in a different way. I'm more concerned that it isn't usable. I got it from Azure Standard but unknown true source.

Does cutting it back now cause it to send up new leaves for an other crop that you could harvest this fall after it cools down?

@ablanccanvas9 ай бұрын
I harvested mine this spring/early summer because it was “growing like crazy”! The leaves were a deep rich green and really robust in scent. I dried them indoors. I just cut my 2nd crop in Sept! Might not grow like this every year/season, but it did this year! ♥️👍🏽😌
