Disagree, in my opinion this is the BEST version of William we’ve gotten He acts calm and chill in the office, disguised himself as “Steve raglan” and pretends to be a “career counsellor” After finding out Mike is related to Garret (when he reads “Schmidt”)” he politely offers him coffee as a matter to get closer / be friendly with him After Mike refuses the job you can tell he’s disappointed, but is oddly calm about it. Almost like he knew Mike would eventually take the job as his options are “limited” When William becomes the yellow rabbit, he is much more violent, sadistic and confident. He kicks Mike around like a rag doll before even stabbing him. He even stabs his own daughter, showing he’ll do anything to get his way, even if it comes to hurting his own child. Truly a messed up father and person. Ty for reading

I agree that the performance and the overall presentation of the character was very solid, I just feel like you have to do so much reading to make sense of the character. His motivations are not explained, and his character only gets a few minutes to be good. He reminds me of the Disney twist villains. Why is he even pretending to be a career counselor to the point of changing his name.

@@RafesEpicStuff very true obviously fans only understood who he really was without much dialogue. I enjoy the story of FNAF, but even I felt that William Afton was poorly shoehorned in. originally, I knew he was the phone guy and all that, and I got excited, and when he looked at Mike's last name and then paused, I (and probably a bunch of other fans) thought he saw the name "Afton" or that Mike's last name was something he'd recognize as a replacement for Afton. and when Mike said how his dad left because he couldn't handle it, I was even more sure that William was Mike's dad, and I just kept getting more an more excited for the official family reunion/fight. when it was then revealed that there was no relation between them, I lost all reason to care about this version of Afton since that was all that he had going for me.

I’m creating my own fanfic of the FNAF movie but if it was also for the audience. One of the changes was that Abby, and the stupid plot line involving Aunt Jane trying to take her away, is gone. I know, Abby was supposed to be there just for Mike to realize he should let go of the past, but Abby is more like a plot device, so she’s gone. Also, Garret was one of the five missing children at Freddy’s, and turns out to be Golden Freddy. Mike will then have dreams of that event, but instead of the dream replaying itself over and over again in a forest like in the movie, they have snippets of the event playing. On the first night, Mike dreams about a young him looking out the window in the middle of the night, to then spot a glimpse of a yellow rabbit outside. On the second night, he dreams of himself enjoying his birthday at Freddy’s, but his parents are paying more attention to Garret, who is afraid of the animatronics, and Mike’s parents comfort him with a toy airplane, fuelling Mike with jealously. On the third night, Mike dreams about him bullying Garret by taking him close and personal towards the animatronics, and almost gets Garret’s head bitten off by Freddy. Garret escapes and leaves down a corridor to cry. Mike runs after him and when he meets Garret at the hallway, he meets the yellow rabbit with him, and the dream ends. On the fourth night, Vanessa takes over the shift, and Mike goes home. On the fifth night, Mike dreams about the yellow rabbit comforting Garret by telling him that there is nothing to fear about him and the animatronics, and how they don’t mean to be scary. The rabbit then offers Garret to come with him to a back room, with Garret offering because he is a stupid child. Mike tries chasing him, but the scene changes back to the mall scene, and Mike is punching the man in the well, to then end up beating up Garret, shocking Mike. That dream was supposed to mean that it was all Mike’s fault that Garret died, and Garret kept telling him that through messages; “It’s me!” When Mike wakes up, he doesn’t get strapped to the torture Freddy head, but instead does what all FNAF fans wanted; Mike playing Five Nights at Freddy’s. The animatronics try hunting Mike down, and Mike tries keeping them out by looking through the monitors. Mike ended up escaping through the vents, to then be cornered by Freddy, who does his glowing music box thing. Mike then wakes up, incarcerated in a Freddy suit inside the Parts & Service room. Mike looks over to the far corner, to see Golden Freddy slouched there. Before Freddy places the head onto Mike, Vanessa comes to save Mike by electrocuting them all. Later, Mike learned about Vanessa being William Afton’s daughter, and the children were stuffed into the suit. Mike then returns to Freddy’s, just like the original, but not to save Abby, but to free the kids’ souls by setting the place on fire. After Mike’s run in with Foxy, Mike sets Foxy on fire, to then see a human hand poking out of the suit’s holes. Mike, scared, fled, to then be met with the William Afton, and everything plays out the same, except more lines for Afton, who explains that he had been stalking Mike and his family for years, giving more reason on how he knew Mike was Garret’s brother because of reading his last name. Also, the springlock scene being more brutal, with it not just being metal ribcages, but the entire suit being filled with springlocks, and Afton screams in agony. Mike and Vanessa exit the pizzeria, and that is the end of the movie. There was no happy ending. No one knows what happens to Vanessa and Mike, and the souls of the children keep William captive, with their souls never being freed. I hope you like this alternate take on the movie, which now gives Afton more depth, and a better villain.

As a fnaf fan since 2014, I gotta admit that his appearance in the movie was very poor. I remember this guy being a psycho that murders children and a sneaky mf that will always achieve his goal no matter the cost. Here he's portrayed as a goofy ahh dude that kidnapped a kid and has a fetish of putting corpse in weird places (he even looks like a weirdo ngl, I wouldn't expect him to have a beard like that). I've heard so much about this movie being made for true fans because only they will be satisfied by it, but I really wasn't impressed. Animatronics were cool yes, but everything else is just wacky and not scary at all despite it was promoted as a horror movie. And the fact that william was defeated by a mf drawing on a wall just sums everything up

i can understand why people would be confused but it does show him in the beginning and you can see him twitching in the end clearly not giving up then he says he always comes back so it sets up a sequal not only that but they put a lot into this movie that makes it to where it's somewhat understandable to a general audience he's evil child killing rabbit guy you think he's dumb but he always thinks ahead some may think it's stupid to how he put on the helmet but seeing as he said the thing before "dying" he is a lot more confident he isn't scared he is like "well if this is happening might as go all the way" then the kids get clarity and the movie ends on a high note but what's this? he's still alive in the suit? well it's gonna be a sequel baby most people just watch it once but I promise if you watch it again you'll see the clues to him being the killer and how smart he really is i get that most aren't gonna do that but that's just fine they can be left guessing

William Afton get's killed instantly... this is why people are having it difficult time understanding... but to point out. In The Games he always came back and if not there was always his essence lingering. To point out, Afton said he always comes back in the movie... so he is a lingering shadow who will keep coming back. So it isn't like he is dead and gone, he will be mentioned a lot and will come back as his new form called SpringTrap.

Thank you! I felt the same way about William. Having him be the main antagonist of the first movie makes both the animatronics and him look weaker. The reveal that he controls the animatronics also makes things more confusing. I don't think William even has to be related to Mike to be a good villain, he just needs a proper build-up, like you said. As for Vanessa, I didn't like her either, because her addition made Mike passive. I thought that Mike would be a stand-in for the player who has to uncover the mystery himself.

1:16 Just to clarify, we already knew that the animatronics were possessed by children since the first game. Great video though, I've never really thought about this before but now that I've heard these criticisms I fully agree. I really think that Scott and his team have written themselves into a corner. If Afton returns as Springtrap in the second movie, his return and the "I always come back" payoff will be wasted because it's already happened and won't have any impact in the third movie, but if they *don't* have him in the second movie, then they're basically forced to completely forget about the main villain AND the cliffhanger for an entire movie. It would've worked way better if "the killer" was merely mentioned or alluded to in the first movie, and *then* fully introduced as William Afton in the second. Newer viewers would be left wanting more knowledge about this mysterious character and then shocked when it's revealed that he's still around, while longtime fans would get even more excited for the inevitable reveal that they know is coming and impacted way more when it finally happens. It would make his reveal as the Phone Guy surprising and maybe even a bit hurtful, since Mike and the audience would have gotten more time to get attached to this quirky guy who acts as one of the few voices of knowledge and comfort in an otherwise unknown and terrifying scenario, only for him to really be the source of all this suffering in the first place.

@ripleyandweeds1288
@ripleyandweeds1288 5 ай бұрын
Actually it was very clear the robots were possessed since the first game. Technically that there was a killer too if you pay attention to subtle details in the first game. Also Vanessa was there so that *Mike* could be killed, not Abby. Killing Abby was the goal of the animatronics. You also say that Mike doesn't need to have a personal reason to hate William and that William being his brother's kidnapper is contrived; but literally that's in line with the kind of storytelling FNAF has?? Honestly this movie's writing with William is better than what the series has been doing with him post FNAF3. You say "who would want to see him come back after he's already been defeated" like thats not already the plot of FNAF 3. I feel like a lot of your problems with William as a character in this is down to just not knowing the story of the series very well. That'd be like me complaining about the plot points and villain motivation in the Sonic movie but also not knowing much about Sonic.

Okay I get why people hate this movie a lot because they don’t understand the lore but why don’t you just watch a video that explains the lore, I have found several single videos that explain the entire Fnaf lore and I understood all of it and why do you say it would be a lot better if the animatronics would just stay as killer robots instead of having an interesting storyline, this is literally the same debate people have with the AOT series they say instead of making a whole story about going against the people in the normal world they just stick with fighting titans like the first season. But then I think if what people are asking is for a movie with a good story, and good characters and good writing THEN WHY ARE YOU HATING ON THIS MOVIE BECAUSE IT LITERALLY HAS ALL OF THOSE QUANTITIES minus the good characters they could have done better with Michael and Tessa’s characters. Also if you have read any of the fnaf comics you will know that in all of them it always starts with a human learning about the animatronics or a human that previously was associated with the animatronics this connects all with the comics, the games and the overall story maybe not the original story but still, I like this movie as an early joiner to the fnaf fandom I can definitely say that this movie was a good 8-9/10 for me

You know we could've just gotten hints from the ACTUAL DEAD CHILDREN about what happened at Freddy's instead of a blonde girl that wasnt even in the original trilogy and barely showed up in her game as herself as it is in her first introduction like jeez FNAF I thought that you could atleast get your own lore right just like the Sonic The Hedgehog Movie and the Mario Movie.

Disagreed. That's how I view Afton in the movie. At first, he goes under a fake alias/identity/name and pretend to be an innocent and smart man until at the end when he showed his true personality, he's nothign but a cruel and evil psychopathic guy. I loved Matthew's performance for Afton. He literally brought this character to life IMO. He was so calm and intelligent the entire time. And he just knew he would return as Springtrap. I actually like this portrayal of Afton a lot. I liked the fact too that Matthew uses phrases like "But I assure you", "How small you are", "I made you", and of course "I always come back". The voice for Spring Bonnie too sounds demonic but cartoony, which I personally like. Then the references to Stu from Scream.

You're saying vanessa is useless by saying stuff that Isn't even what she was trying to do, the animatronics were trying to take abby, not william or vanessa, and william didn't send fredbear or golden freddy, Mike agreed to letting abby go (for like a second but still) which is why golden freddy was there. And William kept vanessa alive becase she was following his orders for so long, she kept her mouth shut, she obeyed, but now she started to try to stop him, and she literally shot him for crying out loud. And vanessa didn't teleport mike to the police station out of nowhere because william was trying to kill him, that was the animatronics and foxy mainly. I will give you the fact that they found out who killed garret wasn't really important but what works, works. We DID know william before he showed up, steve raglan. Also something I wanna add, we still have a villian for the trilogy. William, Springtrap. And if the animatronics were the main villians then william would NEED to be in the movie, as he killed the kids. You serious? The animatronics got alot of screentime (Like all that they needed) and we did see all of their kills, we saw hank, Max and Carl, sure we didn't see Jeff but that is 1/4, they got wayy more scenes than just killing 4 guys and dipping. The entire crew was the main villians until william showed up, which did make him intimidating since vanessa was scared of him and built him up to be this threat so he WAS intimidating, what you mad because it wasn't just freddy? also I thought you didn't like the fact that he was vaugely mentioned. And he was the person who made all of the stuff in the movie happen, I don't see your point there. And they didn't "kill him immediatly", we all know he's still gonna be back because of springtrap. And of course it was easy to defeat him, Abby said earliar that the animatronics like pictures, and they trusted her aswell, so of course her putting up a picture of what the yellow rabbit really did make the animatronics turn against william, they're kids aswell. What are we gonna get from seeing this character again that was already defeated? well the twist that he was springtrap because the characters didn't know he was still alive. Back to vanessa, I'm starting to think you misunderstood her character COMPLETELY. It honestly seemed like you wrote the vanessa part of your script after seeing the trailers and spoilers, went to see the movie then wrote the william part.

Like what a crap video essay. The WHOLE time it's about vanessa trying to keep Abby away until the last moment, until her dad literally stabs her. I feel like you should know a bit more about your source content before making a video on it trying to ride the popularity bandwagon. I agree she was a totally useless character, they just needed someone to reveal lore because we needed audience retention from everyone. No clue why they would make Vanessa a character and then loop her in with Afton. But you do realize that Afton had always been the antagonist... it's not like the children killed themselves. He literally is the one who gives Mike the job and reveals why the place hasn't been torn down. Afton was always involved, but Mike had no way to know that until he pressed further. I feel like this was from a perspective of someone who maybe watched a few letsplays, then saw the movie years later and decided to try to make a video on it, LOL

The reveal being subtle in the first game is my point though. It was cool to figure out on your own instead of having it be told to you. The mystery was what gave the games audience retention. It's why I've been a fan of these games since Markiplier's WARNING: SCARIEST GAME IN YEARS video. Although I admit to losing interest after Sister Location. My suggestion wasn't to get rid of Afton, it was to keep him and the lore hidden in the background until the next movie.

This movie is repeatedly reminding me of something Arin Hanson said, and how fucking true it is (this is paraphrasing to be clear) "When I watch a good movie, it feels impossible to try and make a movie cause it just won't be as good, but when I watch a bad movie, I feel like 'aw, well I could make something better than that easily'" This movie has been making me feel like that ever since watching it. There is so much wrong, I'm just left baffled that you could ever possibly screw up so badly. FNaF offers itself to a movie, or even a series, so damn well, and they just missed the mark so badly.

The reason I talked about Vanessa was because she is so important to this story yet she also takes away from William Afton. It makes him look stupid to have his daughter constantly foil his plans. If you take her out, there could have been much more emphasis put on Afton to flesh him out as the villain. But even so, I feel like Afton is taking away from Freddy being the titular antagonist of the movie. My issue with the plot twists is that they don't change the plot in any way. I feel like it's the worst of both worlds to show all of this information so soon but also move on so quickly because now these twists don't get the chance to leave the same impact they had on the series. As for treating Afton's reveal as fan service, I feel like fans should ask for more than having the character appear on screen.

There are multiple easter eggs in fnaf 1 pointing to that fact, even one of them is a rare secret where the poster of the pizzeria rules can change to a 5 kids missing report, they even specified they were last seen in the pizzeria. Also jeez man, whats your problem with Vanessa? She wasnt trying to lure abby, she was trying to lure mike to get killed by her father, WHICH she was forced to. Besides, the movie would have been boring if it was just mike trying to survive animatronics, how would the movie even end if it was like that? (Sorry not sorry for the long paragraph.)

The hints are there but they're only explicit in the second game. This movie overtly tells you everything with no mystery or real need for investment. I feel like there should have been more subtlety to these mysteries because that's what made them cool in the games. My issue with Vanessa is that she mostly exists to give information. I'll admit to not reading up on the Security Breach lore until after this movie but without it I couldn't possibly understand her motivation. This feels like a character that should be introduced in the second movie where the focus can be more on Afton and who he is.
