Damn these American truck simulator graphics are next-gen

Just a couple of what I hope are helpful pointers and some constructive advice for you or any other drivers just starting out. I use the acronyms P.A.L.S. and S.L.A.P. for coupling and uncoupling, respectively. That way it acts as kind of a "checklist" to make sure I complete all the steps in a safe and logical manner in the same way everytime. Coupling: P-in, locked in place. A-irlines, attach. L-anding Gear, up. S-afe to move the unit? Uncoupling: S-afe surface to drop trailer on. L-anding gear, down. A-irlines, disconnected. P-in, release. Also, I definitely would not slide tandems with the doors open...it's just asking for trouble. Same thing with moving the unit without the doors latched. Had that been one of those dock areas with an obstacle close by and the door flew open like that, it could've hit something and you'd have been charged with an accident. Not trying to be a "Larry" or anything. Just don't want something to happen that jeopardizes your clean record. Take care!

Dave. The reason you had a hard time opening the doors is because your trailer was twisted due to not being on level ground.

with any type of load that is loaded to the back doors you should get into the habit of sliding the axles before you open the doors

Man u really do got it easy i used to work with my uncle who was a owner operators. Local in the DMV area we did container mostly and we rarely had drop and hooks alot of it was unload on spot and during the spring we had alot of hand unload stuff and had to do paper logs i do miss those days he passed away about 11 years ago now watching you just reminds me of those days

Been watching all your videos and I just got myself a OTR job, paid CDL training. I start on the 28th, can’t wait man

Dave you should load lock all your loads. Especially tires. They ALWAYS shift during transit. And the easiest way, when you are hauling tires. To open the doors when the doors won't open is. Hop in your tractor start it up. Then pull forward as fast as you can for a little bit then slam on your brakes. Do that a few times. Also you are lucky you didnt have to unload those tires. I've unloaded and loaded thousands of containers and trailer's of tires. And it's hard and dirty work.

Being experienced in working in a warehouses, it's actually really interesting to see how goods get moved from location to location. And I HATE having to cut those plug seals of- it's almost impossible for me lol

Sliding the tandem with the doors open with a load is a no no

Such a huge country, and yet, I see you pull into some of the same places I've been. So bizarre. I've been to Rheem numerous times. Always a breeze there for me. Don't forget your 2 straps though!

Just a tip, while you pulled into the receiver put yourself on on duty yard move. With the new hos rules you could have gotten a 30 in while getting to and baking in the door. Just a tip!

They actually have specifically designed cable cutters as well. those will work better on the cable seals than the bolt cutters will

The trailer flexes if no on level ground can cause a hard time both opening and closing doors

These lightweight trailers will flex if you aren't parked straight or on level ground. It puts the door clasps in a bind. You'll usually have more trouble closing them than opening... but the same law of physics applies.

Possibility of freight falling out is why you want to slide your tandems before you open your doors, whenever possible.

I hate getting stuck at greens on lefts. Right when your good red pops up and then you're pissed. Lol.

You drove by my old job! You didn't show it but I knew exactly where you were in Roanoke. I've seen a lot of trains stopped blocking that RR crossing. The trucking gods were on your side.

Thinking that little piece of tape is holding it shut hahaha. It happens sometimes if the ground isnt level. I’ve also had it where the rubber seal inside between the door kind of gets stuck and you gotta pull hard on it to release it.

Dave got ran over by a Firestone tire coming home from Larry's house on Christmas Eve.

I was at a small company and the forklift driver was outside by my trailer and said he’d shut my doors. I pulled away from the dock and looked in the mirror and my door fell off. Before I could pull out he tried to shut my doors and the door was ripped off. Luckily the trailer was his companies and they had more. I traded trailers and was reloaded. The owner was there because it was thanksgiving week and they was frying a turkey in the warehouse.

You should always lower your landing gear before pulling your 5th wheel latch. Safety precaution incase your truck rolls forward after you pull 5th wheel, your going to want landing gear down

i used to load and unload those tire loads, got in pretty good shape doing that for a while

When I was OTR I had a handful of live offloads so it worked out around 95% drop/hook

I live in Texas and I work at Loves 231 look it up and I see it all the time lol
