Dear Mr. Murthy, I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share some thoughts on our current compensation structure. Many of us work diligently, often juggling multiple responsibilities, to make ends meet. The average salary falls within the range of 20-30k, making it challenging to cover basic expenses. Consider the breakdown: Rent (1BHK): 9k Electricity: 2k Petrol: 2k Groceries: 8k Milk: 2k School fees (1 child): 2k Medical insurance: 1k Family dinner (monthly): 2k This leaves a mere 2k in savings per month, amounting to 24k annually. While there is potential for a 5-9k hike, the average gold price has risen by 12-15% annually from 1971 to 2023. I propose a new approach to compensation. Instead of cash, consider providing employees with 5 grams of gold monthly. This adjustment could help us keep pace with inflation. Thank you for your consideration.

Let’s put it in this way - If you own a business and obviously have a drive to make it big then go ahead and work 70-140 hrs a week yourself. Otherwise if you are an employee of whatever rank then you should make your priority clear. Work life balance is also a thing if you haven’t heard. In short hard work must be in proportion to the returns. It’s nothing to do with east or west.

Even american mnc invest in india because we indians work hard long hours and paid less salary as compared to our american counterparts. We are missing the main point here: 1. India's GDP cannot be improved by squeezing existing workforce. Real growth will rise only when most people have some employment or contribute to the economy. 2. Do we expect stretching 70+ hrs and again giving in charity 50% in direct & indirect taxes? 3. Agreed, our productivity needs to prove.

The main problem is that the majority of people in India go for either engineering or medical and do not follow their passion and explore other fields. That's why they are not much motivated towards their job and see it as a burden or some task to finish asap. This is not completely their fault; it's a harsh but true fact that most of the other fields do not pay well, unlike in other countries.

After that you get off for certain interval. Enjoy your time. Get recharged and get back to your job again.

Bro i work in group c post (extremely low paid) of govt of odisha. I travel to office for 30 mins on my bike, I work from 10 am to 6pm in the office and come back home taking another 30 mins on the bike, sometimes at 6:30 sometimes at 7 in the evening, and put in another 3-4 hrs at the minimum to finish the work. And it increases if the workload is more. Indian youth is probably the most hardworking population at par with china or japan, provided they get a job. The problem with our jobs be it private or govt, is that it's not that we are not efficient or not hardworking, it's the system in place that is extremely inefficient, and to change that inefficiency of system both technological and procedural, the will should be top down, as at the bottom of the pyramid the people doing the job will have a btr life and the job will be done in an efficient manner.
