heyyy, if i seem a bit all over the place in this video, I'm sorry I've been in a really bad headspace! but I still wanted to make this video.
i know it can be difficult to like your own work, or to be proud of the work you put into it, but you owe it to yourself.
i do these video's just for the fun of it , they are more my experiences rather then straight up advice so take what you want from it ;;v;;

I really resonate with this topic because rn I'm still struggling with liking my art- seeing how i haven't improved as much as other people and even younger artists being better made me feel demotivated even though i know i should be rooting for them. Last year i really reached a breaking point where i stopped drawing for fun and feared even going near social media or anything related to art- distancing myself from my online artist friends. Thankfully I started drawing again bit by bit- Ig my own advice for myself or anybody reading this is to not pressure yourself to improve in just one day- be happy and draw what you like- not what others want to see- but yeah! great video as always TwT I'm glad I found this channel-

Another point that I often tell my friends: Only you know what you wanted your piece to look like. Even if it didn't quite turn out how you wanted, others don't know what you wanted it to look like. So, they only see it for what it is. And often times, that final piece is still really good. I.e. sometimes I'll look through my older art and find a piece that I remember not being proud of, but seeing it now I think it looks fine especially for my abilities at that time. I dont remember what I wanted that piece to look like, but looking at it now it's fine.

i’m 15 (almost 16) a few years ago i got really into art but after a few months i stopped. and now, at the beginning of 2022, i decided to try and become a better artist and actually improve my art. it’s now been about 7 months of drawing (2 of those being inconsistent) i feel guilty every time i take breaks. i have a tendency to become obsessed with certain things and then moving on after awhile so every time i take a break i feel like i’m slowly falling into the pit of giving up and moving onto something new. looking at artwork lights a fire in me, and it hurts because there are artists that make such beautiful art while my art can’t come close to looking as amazing as theirs. i wanna get better but i’m afraid of failing. and now i think i wanna pursue a career in art so i feel like if i don’t improve soon i might not be able to.

Here's an idea that really helped me get over the whole "my art sucks" thought, especially the first beginner phase. You have eye experience and hand experience. Eye experience is way easier to level up than hand experience. Everyone, as they get older, already gain an eye for what they like and don't like. What looks right and wrong. So, when you first start drawing you're hand doesn't have much experience creating things and your eye can spot all the little problems and mistakes you make. It's a struggle but you have to push through it until your hand catches up. But as you get better, and you learn more about art, techniques, color theory, etc. your eye starts out-leveling your hand again. So you have to let your hand catch up again. Try new things, try emulating the things you see that you really like, and eventually your hand will start making the things you like, thus your art becomes "good" again. It's always a cycle because you're always learning as you go.

As for me, I draw too, but not much ‘cause I usually procrastinate a lot & never really practice & I don’t even know where to start at first. So I just drew the same stuff, making mistakes & never changing anything & improving my art progress. I wanted to draw something new, but I feel like my brain is overwhelmed for thinking new ideas. I acted like that I’m a professional artist who never practice literally like, at all & I spend a lot hours drawing one thing just to make my artwork perfect ‘cause I draw really slow & add too much over detailed information to my characters & l loved it, not keeping it very simple. Also, I compare myself to those pro artists on KZfaq having better art than I do. So I’m related to you. this video really means a lot to me & thanks. You’re really inspired me to draw. I just wanted to do art for fun

I wish I had this video a few years ago when I hated my art so much to the point i started hating drawing TwT Just recently (recently meaning like, a year ago) I got back into the groove when I met a lot of new people (some of them are artists too) who have motivated me and have given me a new way to look at my art - they would point out things about it, small things which I didn't think were that special and they have made me love those tiny details in my drawings. So as I agree with all the things you said in the video, I'd also like to add another advice - surround yourself with people who know how to appreciate art, doesn't matter if it's your friend group or an online forum, just share your art and you'll get a new perspective on it :]

I always say this after i finish and see my art. But i'll never give up, i've been drawing for a year now, i've started to stick figures. Now im starting to learn anatomy. There's this feeling inside me that won't let me give up, it's yelling inside saying "If you give up now, you won't see your progress. Stay Determined" hating your art is normal. It is one way or another, but don't let that make you quit.

Until today I thought that I could only have one style of art. You know, because it would be great to be original, and I thought it would be unprofessional my drawings change styles constantly (if I want to open an art account) But until today I realized that it's a very stupid thought, there really is nothing wrong in having more than one style, it is not a rule. I have always had more than five favorite art styles and I will not stop trying them.

Hope you feel better soon! And about this topic, I think many of us can agree that sometimes we either hate our own art style or think we suck because we've tried so many times to perfect a specific thing (anatomy for me and my stupid art style) but it just never works out as well as you think it will. People also always compare themselves to other artists because they want to be like them and who can blame you? I want to draw a specific art style I really like watching in an anime but sometimes I suck. Remember that you aren't the only one feeling this way and that art is like this, not everyone's born with "the talent" but you can always improve. Most of the time remember to have fun from what you do instead of thinking that it's like a whole business and that it has to be perfect. Make sure to find something you feel satisfied with and keep on going

I know something that’s always helped me when I start hating my art is to just tell myself that even if I don’t believe I’ve improved much, that still implies that I’ve improved at least slightly, and that also I’m still learning! this topic has been on the front of my mind for a while now. i’ve been drawing for almost 7 years now and whenever i look at my art compared to people who have been drawing for half the time i always feel like i should have improved a lot more in my art journey. i know that people improve and learn at different rates but it still doesn’t get rid of that feeling of not doing as well as i should be for how long i’ve been drawing yknow?

Today I was painting with my new acrylic's I got for christmas and I didn't like the painting. My mom saw it and said it was good but I still didn't like it. She later told me that it was possibly because it didn't have life and she said I should add ducks in the pond. I went back to my painting and I realized it wasn't as bad as I originally thought it was! Sometimes we are our biggest critics and you just need to step away for a minute to give yourself a new perspective.

As an artist who struggles with liking their own art, i can say: IT SUCKS. I'll always feel like i'm always behind everyone, i see their improvement and i can barely get out of my comfort zone while the things i suck at are their comfort zone. Got myself feeling kinda useless sometimes, but then i look back and see the 10 year old me drawing MHA characters in a silly way and then back at the 14 me now and i think " Well, i'm not doing so bad now, that's a lot of improvement already" it feels like taking an elephant from my shoulders. Anyways, your videos are helping a whooole lot! Thank you!!!!

i'm a bit late, but man i can relate with this. Now i'm not good with words (or about anything at all), but please take care of yourself. It's okay to get tired, or burnt out, we all have our limits. It's normal to compare your work with others, but it isn't exactly "healthy". And if you need it, you can take a break, a nice long one. It's normal for people like us to hate our own art, but please know that some people (me included) like _your_ art

I've had the issue of drawing at school. My real art is usually very emotional, I put emotion into every stroke. I also take inspiration from my own experiences and feelings which means my natural art is usually very sad, messy, and goes into some deep topics. My repressed art is much more smiley and happy looking, it's art that I'd think people would be interested in and not be weirded out by. But my new years resolution is to stop repressing myself and start making things that are true to me!

There is no secret to drawing. All you have to do is draw more. Specialise in a certain style and draw. You still need to practice multiple things. You need to practice multiple skill sets and in the end use them in your own art style you specialised in. Get out of your comfort zone and do what's hard. Try and try, channel your anger and annoyance into improving. Only then will you improve. This is not only true for art. This is true for many other things you do in life. This thinking helped me to actually stop my procrastination and simply... draw more.

btw, I really like your art, and you do a really good job with all your drawing tutorials, if you can teach art then I think it's safe to say you're a talented artist (which you are). And even though your videos aren't as high quality as some of the more popular youtubers. I still think they're really good, not to mention if there's something you feel like needs improving in your videos, then you can just work on getting better with that too, just like in art.

I've been kinda hating my drawings lately so I bought watercolor paint and started painting for a few days and also painting digitally and now I feel more motivated to draw. For the past year I've been only drawing so trying an other medium of art kinda feels like a reset. I really love painting and I'm very glad I've decided to go and do something I've never done before

I’ve been on an art break for half a year to a full year and I’m finally forcing myself to get back into it, and I’m getting better! After I make a mistake I go back and rewatch blue biscuits tutorials and examine what I did wrong and then fix it. It’s really not fun sometimes to give up on an art piece halfway because you feel like it’s bad, but even if it is you gotta keep in mind that every artist started out like this. Try making a goal for yourself and then make it harder once it starts to get easier. Mine for example is to create at least one drawing every two weeks, once I get the hang of it I’ll shorten it down to one week, then two drawings a week, and so on. I believe in every artist here who is struggling! Don’t give up! Things like this take time, so be patient! And most importantly, be positive with yourself! ❤

this was really helpful, i've hit a block lately and i've been trying to find ways to get better. especially since i am so close to taking the first step towards becoming a concept artist! i am really stressed about it and its been leaving me feeling like i should give up and choose something easier. but i wont let that happen! i will continue to grow as an artist!

i’m pretty young and i only started actually trying to draw, watching tutorials, etc. like 2 weeks ago, but my hair has already gotten better. I just can’t find the right art style, and i have no motivation other then “i want to be able to shade properly, not just random grey spots in the general area that i think shadows are supposed to be”. i really can’t figure out how to color or shade, and that’s been making me stop immediately after i started.

That's relatable. I'm also currently struggling with my artstyle. Search up videos on shading. I'm also struggling with these topics, but when you see yourself improve in one of them, you suddenly get this burst of motivation.

I don't know if you have considered doing that but I think it's a great way to stay motivated. So what you can do is keep your very old drawings and make a collection, then line them together and see the improvement, I think it really help. I'm a pretty new artist and I don't really think I draw good but when I see my old crappy drawings (it's not true, it's a memory) I remember that it's a matter of time and if I continue, I'll get better and better until I reach the level of good artists. Another exemple, I was in a museum one day and there was an artwork of an artist who just started digital, it was a very long and wide painting so when you traveled around you could see that at the beginning of the painting, it wasn't that good, but at the end, it was a masterpiece. All of this motivated me to git gud.
