I’ve had viewers ask for my PayPal and Venmo details so they could “tip” me for all the videos. Thank you so much to those who have asked. If you’d like to leave a “tip” it would mean the world to me and my family…

Off topic suggestion: consider doing a subscriber/student match with another KZfaq tennis channel. You can arrange games with students across a range of ratings. Your viewership will go through the stratosphere

That's one great drill idea. Will definitely practice that at the wall, starting further back of course because of the wall. Thanks!

Great analogies as always, but the placement of the cones 3 feet from the net could anchor it in a lot of people's minds. Then they will subconsciously expect to reach that far before the ball comes back.

Wouldn't you normally split-step at the T, instead of close to the net? Or is the geometry of this drill just for practice?
@2MinuteTennis

Splits steps are timed as your opponent hits. They’re aren’t based on where you are. Meaning, when going forward, you’ll only split step at the T if that’s when your opponent is hitting. I’d they haven’t hit the ball yet, you can continue going forward and split step when they hit. It’s possible that you could be behind the service line when they hit, so you’d split step behind the service line.

@@2MinuteTennis Thanks for the explanation. It seems that split steps really are that "one crazy trick" that make us win more matches!

The coming to the net split step isn't as easy as knowing you should split. All your weight is moving forward, and the split is essentially an abrupt stop. I often find myself making squeaky stopping steps, instead of a clean split. I've seen other rec players doing the same. Ryan, should we be light on our feet, keeping the center of mass aligned with our feet as we approach?

You’re correct. That’s why you have to practice it with a drill. Like the one I demonstrated. Your should land with your heels off the ground. Practice it over and over again. Run and split. You can do it in your house right now.
