In this video:
Jordan is talking about why you must face some sort of discomfort in life in order to progress. He starts off by saying that you should not be looking for comfort in life. A very true statement. In fact, life is not set up so that we can pursue the pleasures in life and wallow in them. Life is set up so that we should always be challenging ourselves in order to grow. That's why Peterson discourages the oedipal mother who seeks to protect her child from the world. Because what will happen is the child will never be exposed to the dangerous and malevolent world and so won't ever grow. He also adds that you don't make people less anxious by exposing them to that that they are afraid of. You instead make them braver. The video is packed with more details on why an individual should voluntarily face suffering in order to progress. Enjoy!
About Jordan Peterson:
Jordan Peterson is a renowned speaker, author, former clinical Psychologist, and Professor. He has written three books so far. The first one is The Architecture of Belief, in which Peterson describes a comprehensive theory about how people construct meaning, form beliefs, and make narratives. The book, which took Peterson 13 years to complete, draws concepts from various fields including mythology, religion, literature, philosophy, and psychology, in accordance with the modern scientific understanding of how the brain functions. Check it out here: (Maps of meaning: amzn.to/3pB2d8r) The other book is 12 rules for life, A best seller. Check it out here(12 rules for life: amzn.to/3BgM5vh. His recent book is

About the Channel:
Welcome to wise advice motivation. Our Goal is to produce compelling inspirational and educational videos that tackle major areas of life such as relationships, self-help and so much more.
How we work:
This is a channel that is solely aimed at producing self-development videos with the goal of motivating, inspiring, and educating its viewers. The videos we produce have elements like visuals, audio, and background music Which are not owned by us. But thanks to the fair use policy we are able to use clips e.g. from interviews and Jordan Peterson's lectures and transform them by adding commentary in the form of animation and video footage. Here is how we work. Our editors brainstorm video ideas, then analyze hours of interviews and videos across youtube. After finding the clips, we then stitch them together, add music to provide an immersive experience and commentary in form of video footage and whiteboard animation. This commentary helps transform the video to be unique as well as gives the original clips a new perspective. We also add text animations to emphasize important messages in the video.

I find the first point to always need a little more clarification, because people tend to take it the wrong way: it's not about ignoring and dismissing other people's opinion of you right away, thinking you know better. It is advisable to take that opinion in, analyze it, judge for yourself whether it is ill-intended or not, judge whether that person might "know something you don't" (a point of Dr. Peterson) and finally choose whether or not to act based on that opinion. What you must not do is let the negative forces imposed on you by others, whether that is words or actions, discourage you and put you down.

" If you don´t escape, if you allow the suffering to be there, if you are ready to face it, if you are not trying somehow to forget it, then you are different. Suffering is there but just around you; it is not in the center, it is on the periphery. It is impossible for suffering to be in the center; it is not in the nature of things. It is always on the periphery and you are the center. So when you allow it to happen, you don´t escape, you don´t run, you are not in a panic, suddenly you become aware that suffering is there on the periphery as if happening to someone else, not to you, and you are looking at it. A subtle joy spreads all over your being because you have realized one of the basic truths of life, that you are bliss and not suffering."

We've collectively created ourselves a maze of an extremely complex life getting out of which takes much more strength and stamina than by the prior generations. Today it takes more energy to build a life that promises the comfort zone we always strive for than years before so we don't have to worry about anything but the pleasures we get from the life experience. By doing this, we are contributing to the complexity of life the future generations would have a harder time to deal with !!

HIT ME This quote from the Joker actor Heath Ledger from "The Dark Knight" made a huge impact on me and inspired me to create a philosophy. It helped me make peace with all of that. Through practices of all kinds. I have learned to love my trauma, my illness, my feelings, my thoughts, my conflicts, my life and ultimately my suffering. The hits are a fact of life and the key to enlightenment. A hit affects you, internally or superficially. Everyone and everything has this HIT ME side in it. HIT ME always works. And you will never be disappointed with this life expectation. Because something always hits you. Even if you don't want to be hit by something, it still hits you. Hence, it still works as a life expectation. It even works when positive things hit you. Like soft raindrops or a soap bubble. Same as joy or bliss. Hit me all the way, in any way, anyway (even if sometimes or often I don't want it). If you commit yourself to such an idea, you decipher the path to enlightenment. It is therefore a good reason to follow the path of loving our suffering. Because it brings you great benefits. From ourselves, when we don't want to be hit and don't want to take in the hits, to the desire to be hit and take in the hits. It always works, regardless of the form. Once one has developed a certain level of this practice, one masters the suffering and becomes truly enlightened. And for conflicts, but also that which hits us in general, I quote Bruce Lee: "I do not hit. It hits all by itself." Wanting Not Wanting Wanting and not wanting is a hypnotic spiral and by wanting not wanting, you get into the everchanging flow of yin and yang. The Way Out Of The Abyss Only when we can accept, what we want to let go, can we let go, of what we want to accept. A peaceful mind is the cure for restlessness. And love is the cure for a broken spirit. Pain is strength in disguise waiting to be revealed. And it takes a lot of strength to cry. Because when we cry, we open ourselves to the pain we experience. When all the waves are crashing down on you, there is faith to get you through. Express your belief in reality and believe in it. This is how you get through the waves. We make mistakes because we are not perfect. And for this fact I am grateful that I make mistakes. Remember that the solution to any problem, is the problem itself. It came into existence and it won't leave you. A sacrifice for love is a sacrifice worth dying for. We don't have to undo the things we do wrong or have done wrong in life. We die for it and thus sacrifice ourselves for love. Hence, die for your negative qualities. And live for your positive qualities. That is the sacrifice and the salvation of the human spirit. The guilt we feel is the one that enslaves us. Only when we also remember our innocence are we free at the same time. There is nothing in this universe that can harm a mad person. Except to make the mad person even more insane through harm. When one is ready to take in all hits, in order to gain strength from them and at the same time is ready to pass on all the love out of compassion to others; one will be as strong as a demon and as compassionate as an angel. A demonic angel. A victory can be achieved by resolving the battles within. When you give up fighting yourself and instead start absorbing yourself; you will be invincible. When you change the powers that hold you back, into the powers that hold your back, you will be unstoppable. You are an example of what a human being is capable of. Use the hits as fuel for the ascent. Because the greatest bliss is found when you make peace with your suffering. Because suffering is the root of blissfulness. If you love your suffering, blissfulness arises. And blissfulness is the key to heaven on earth. When you conquer yourself by loving yourself, your fears, your pain and ultimately your suffering; then it will transform you and you will be reborn. In order to overcome suffering, one must become suffering oneself. Because when you are one with all, you are bound by nothing and therefore free from everything. And by becoming one with suffering, you master it. The journey to enlightenment is a process that involves a lot of suffering. But in the end, every moment of suffering will be worth it. Because choosing to suffer consciously is the springboard to enlightenment. This is how you remember your origin and you begin to embody it. Because where there is suffering, the love spark resides. And the fire is kindled where God or consciousness enters and spreads. Become Ryu, the dragon. Become suffering. Have a relationship with the suffering (HIT ME) from sadness to madness. Want the not wanting. And become the suffering yourself, (HIT ME) and the hits. And Ryu, the dragon spreads its wings and rises with the darkening and the enlightenment. So the dragon finds the way out of the abyss.

What is pain if not the absolute. Pain doesn’t mean you are healing or growing, but that there is a need for adjustment. Let’s say you break your leg. You’d think “only time heals broken bones” and that isn’t “wrong” but, Once the bone is healed, it is not the same bone that it was before you broke it. The same theory could be applied to your psyche, persona and/or ego - The pain whether it sets its root in the spiritual, metaphysical and/or emotional form. And for the leg, there was a need for change. Your nerves are now aligned again. You will never walk on the same leg as you did before the fracture. But it sure looks like the same leg from the outside, doesn’t it? It feels the same, it is no longer broken, but whole. Still, your bone will be marginally stronger than it used to be at the place of the fracture. Change or adjustment is a necessity, but alignment is not, unless you are able to use the absolute to guide you to a higher standard of living/being. Be seldom aware.

Jordan Peterson is what happens to a man who values critical thinking, more then peace and happiness ! The idea that you need to go out of your way, to find challenging, uncomfortable situations in order to grow is ludicrous ! Jordan once again is looking for answers using the cosmological perspective "to look outward from self to the cosmos for answers" the only other perspective available to us is the psychological, "To look inward to self for the answers" ! This perspective is the one needed for personal growth ! Unfortunately this requires a meditative practice ! After listening to Jordan speak, it becomes increasingly clear that he does not meditate ! If he did, his happiness would be evident ! I don't take advice from people who are clearly unhappy !

What if my fear is physical pain? Shall I induce pain in myself to get used to it and get over it? But the pain I'm afraid of is quite severe and in the most real sense of the word, terrifying.

@@brendynbeard605 hi, I am afraid to open doors because often I get that electricity discharge. Same happens with cars. All other metal surfaces are ok. Any advice? People look at me strange when I either keep making "ouch" comments or gingerly double tap handles before opening doors 😑

@@TurningTesting I used to have the same issue. Get rid of electrical conducting clothing, jewelry etc. For me, it was polyester clothing and underwear. Switch to all cotton or natural fiber clothing. Cotton underwear. The static shock went away.

Elevator is scary jordan. Coworker and I had an experience that we almost saw a nun get crushed by the elevator doors cuz the thing just violently shut closed by itself as soon as she went in. Like she has a demon wanna kill her or something came out of the saw films.

The devil lies in the word "voluntarily". What does it take to make someone undertake hardship "voluntarily"? What bridges the gap between avoidance and voluntarily facing a threat? Is it shedding an unhealthy or dysfunctional belief? Is it getting long withheld reassurance that would otherwise give one the confidence to take action? Or is it simply a switch turned on in someone's brain?

Yes, Jesus is the symbol of voluntary suffering leading to transcendence which represents the archetype of ego-death and spiritual rebirth. A process depicted in Alchemy, in ancient myths and 'Books of the Dead' like the 'Tibetan Bardo Thödol' or the Egyptian 'Pert Em Hru'. It’s all about to free ourself from the struggle of ‘Good against Evil’ which keeps the mind in the lowest state of self-recognition.

Kind of seems pointless to suffer for it's own sake. You suffer because of your false identity with being a man trapped in flesh and bone. But you're not the man in the flesh and bone. Find out who you are.

Both parents should work together to raise loved confident children, do we protect the vulnerable enough? Why in a modern civilisation do fathers still kill women and children in domestic situations, is it any wonder women become fearful or over protective or go the other way detach in depression and stress, I wish societies would judge their vulnerable less and actually try to create more harmonious environments.

It’s not just men, it’s coming from both sides who don’t want to commit or responsibility and don’t even respect the relationship. That’s the problem we have because everyone is so fast paced nowadays we all get bored of people and view connections as objects.

It is more of a heart problem than a societal problem. People in societies have problems, and now they bring all their frustrations to vulnerable and blameless individuals. How do you fix a broken wo/man?
