hey biffa you have so many huge bus stations with empty platforms, why dont you connect them with some express bus lines without stops in between. I think this would really help you to allow easier access to your public transport as a whole! And of course you would start using that huge bus infrastructure that you build but left unused.
@JustaGuy_Gaming
@JustaGuy_Gaming 3 жыл бұрын
Some mods might help but by and large Buses are a bad thing in Cities Skylines. People tend to pick them over other forms of transit (even just walking across the street at times) but the bus system can't handle it. You'll get hundreds of people at one stop and nothing every where else. They basically only work in low density area's at best and unless you mod in buses with higher capacity you really can't fix it without just pulling the lines out.
@johnterpack3940
@johnterpack3940 3 жыл бұрын
@@JustaGuy_Gaming busses are good for getting people out of a neighborhood to a rail station or something. Other than that, you're right, they aren't that useful. But I would rather have one bus at an intersection than 30 people crossing it or a ped overpass that takes valuable zoning space and ruins the aesthetics.
@ChaosOperator
@ChaosOperator 3 жыл бұрын
@@JustaGuy_Gaming your right with that, my thought and experience behind my suggestion was not to flood teaport with busses but to put a shuttle connection between the major transporthubs with one or two busses in a direct connection. in my town it helped a lot to reduce long distance commuting. as far as i have experienced cities skylines the AI will prefer to use cars over changing between 3 or 4 different public transport options. If the citizens cant get to their goal without constantly transfering they will use cars. i think a good example is the first trainstation biffa built where suddenly hundreds of people started spawning cars because they wanted to go to a far away part of the town. for my town a express shuttle connection with two busses between my hubs worked wonders with that, of course it is entirely possible that you and others had completely different experiences with that.

Part of the noise pollution issue has to do with how you built your high density commercial zoning. Said zoning creates more noise than even the most dense city roads do, so it's important to limit the crossover between them and residential. The less "perimeter" of commercial you have per total area of commercial, the less crossover you get. I tend to combine that with the busiest roads, by putting all of my high density commercial on busy roads, which keeps the residential away from that noise source and consolidates all the noise pollution to strips, rather than spread out everywhere. Also, if you put offices as a barrier between your commercial and residential, many citizens won't have to travel as far to work, in addition to the reduction in noise where it matters (offices don't make noise, and don't care if it's noisy). Ideally, main roads would look like this: RRROC| |CORRR (R=residential, O=office, C=commercial, with the road in the middle). A way you can implement this is by putting all the commercial on the main road, with the side roads that come off the main road having a few offices as the first buildings not on the intersection, and residential a few buildings down. If you really want to have commercial in and amongst your residential, use low density (and stay away from leisure commercial in residential areas, since that is the noisiest). Basically, a few corner shops are fine in your residential areas; all other (especially high density) commercial should be along your noisy main roads (which is where they would want to be in real life anyway, for more customer traffic). Unfortunately, the game doesn't have mixed-zoning built in (small shops on the ground floor, with offices or residential above), but using the above strategy can help get around the issue.

Every route isn't really predictable about expected usage. I always change it back to 2 or 3, depending on the length. After a while I check if the line needs more buses. But don't overdo it, the 200 people waiting are not the normal amount of people at the stop. You may need to change the 9 buses back to 5 later on.

Your tram stops on the newly refurbished road are too close to eachother... At 19:13, you seem to hesitate where to put the first one after the track comes from the boulevard, you had two options, you could do a offset platform station and put the tram stop on the relevant side nearest the traffic light since it has to stop for passengers anyway and it won't block the junction behind it if the tram is too long, and also, you have visually at least more space for passengers if the two platforms are offset from eachother. And the Bordeaux Citadis tram is one of the best looking for Cities Ckylines as well as the Berlin Flexity Outlook. A shame trams can't reverse without having a go around or you could have done like Bordeaux does, have intermediate last stops so the line is beasier in the center and 1/2 trams goes on to the end of the line. And they used to have 5 and 7 cars trams on the same line as well. The hospital is close but they need more ambulances and less traffic to get there easier and also, they usually pick up the guys further first. (video game logic 101), a shame people can't go by foot to the hospital...

Awesome video Biffa! I was wondering if you could extend the subway on the other direction, to take people to the sports complex and the train hub, since is right beside it but has no direct access of public transport :) Also, for the name of the new area it could be GaTEAway Residential!

I think the new district looks a little like Kingsford Heights, IN. I also think a Community Gymnasium would look nice alongside one of the arteries. Plus Health benefits.

There are some great local recycling centres on the workshop so you can really spread out the garbage collection. Zero pollution and a really small footprint so you can throw them in all over the shop. I usually put mine in those weird spaces that never fill up properly.

Transport as far as the eye can see! Love it. I think the dedicated tram, 4 Lane Road and bike lanes looks better and serves a better purpose, plus I like it when you build mini parks around the car parks that you build theyre cool af

The noise pollution is because you used high density commerical next to residential. High density commerical has MUCH higher noise vs regular but the building sizes (at max) aren't much different.

BIFFA! I’ve been watching the “Teaport” series and I got so inspired and decided to start my own COFFEE inspired project called “San-Fran Machiatto” ( Macchiato ) and all the districts are named things like “ Port-Latte” or “Dark Roast Industrial ” and call my currency coffee beans! I’m still learning how to use mods, but when I’m fixing my nodes I say “Hugo there, Hugo there 😂 Thanks for the inspiration!!!

High density commercial is a major source of noise polution. To solve the issue you have to replace HDC for LDC, or put LDC/offices between HDC and residential zones.

Maybe the area could be TeaWay/Tea-Way Central? In Sydney, the T-Ways are bus transitways, a collection of on-road bus queue jump lanes and dedicated high-speed busways. Given that the area is part of Teaport and the abundance of (sometimes duplicative, which isn't exactly ideal) mass transit, I thought Tea-Way would be pretty good.

BadPeanut's other 4 lane tram road (other one to the one you used), keeps trams and traffic lanes separate and has parking but loses bike lanes (iirc the stops are in the middle so you'd need crossings nearby for people to access the stops though). There's another 2 lane tram road by BadPeanut that separates the trams from other traffic as well (you might want to use that one instead of the generic two-lane road with tram tracks)

At 7:01 you have a gravel road connecting to that high traffic segment and I think that's part of the problem for that area. If that gravel road could connect elsewhere it would probably solve a lot of traffic issues, like just going out to the left between the barracks and into the intersection there. I also see that the barracks to the right of the gravel road are linking to the larger road instead of to the gravel road, which also might put in some unnecessary traffic there.

The other tram/bike road without the parking has a dedicated tram lane. You will have to add crossings next to the tram stops for people to get there but it will help with traffic

Even with the new stops, I think you should connect the above-ground metro to the festival area stop via the more direct route as well, create a loop, and a means to possibly extend it in the future to the other areas of your city. Just an idea.

Just yesterday I truly came to appreciate how much cims crave public transport. I played the traffic scenario that comes with Mass Transit and had already gotten traffic above 70% with some basic road work. I threw in a pair of stops for my Graf Zeppelin to carry people to the industrial area and quickly wound up with 1,700 cims piled up waiting for a ride at the residential end of the line. By the way... the Graf Zeppelin is HUUUUUUUUUGE!

Biffa, you should connect the winding road that goes around the lake by the industrial area around to the Monorail road you have coming out of your park area with the central monorail/bus hub that currently ends in a dead end! They are SO close to one another.
