im 19 and my dad says it's fine it's more comfortable, "you're feet won't swell of the pressure" I believed that for a long time. As time went on, I realized nobody else except my family would take off their shoes. I grew embarrassed and with a little sense I stopped taking off my shoes on an airplane

Thanks, but no thanks. First, your feet will smell only if U do keep your shoes on all day. Second, it is very, VERY, strange emergency if U don't have that 0,5 seconds to slip your feet in to the shoes. And in case U wear high heels, U can't wear them in emergency anyway. Do take shoes off on long flights - it is safer and more convenient for everybody on board - U don't really think the shoes will keep the bad odors inside, do U?

just clean the soles of your shoes. put baking soda in your shoes!
