That's great news. I waited for about 4 months for an update. I reported the problems but they told me they weren't problems, it was the design (so I wasn't holding my breath on them fixing them). If they would have told me "Yup, it's a bug, working on it", I may have kept them. Because I waited for 4 months, returning them was a pain, Amazon was refusing to take them. Which means next time I need to do returns in 30 days and not let companies have a chance of fixing the issue before I generate e-waste. I hate that policy.

@sportscar75025 did you solve the audio sleep and fading "feature" with the software and firmware update? I have Jabra Direct software and that annoying sleep is still in place. Jabra support says that this is how it should work. In Jabra Direct headset settings near "Audio protection" there is a text "The headset always provides protection against sound spikes".

Thanks for showing the other side of Jabra Evolve2 85 headphones. Before watching/running your video I had almost made up my mind to buy it for my use. As I have the same situation as your's where I have three devices (my phone, my work computer, and my personal computer) so I was looking for similar headphones that can be used when I am in need but after watching your video my mind is clear and you have saved a lot of my money. Based on another pair of Bose headphones that I bought and love, I purchased the Bose 700 UC phones. They're good, but I'm disappointed in the mic quality. I don't sound great on Zoom calls that I've played back and listened to. I don't know about the Jabra phones, but I wouldn't buy the Bose model to make clear business calls.

Would love to have the usability of the Bose 700, the sound quality of the Sony XM4s, and that cool boom mic from the Evolve2 85 in one headset. It's sad that all headsets on the market (even these "premium" ones) have such fatal flaws. I had the Bose 700s for about year, then I switched over to the XM4s as I mostly use them to listen to music, and it's not all wonders like the reviews say. The mic quality on the Sony is terrible, as you said, if "the floor boards creak while on a call" then it's a big problem on this headset too. Also, loud audio prompts like "BLUETOOTH CONNECTED / DISCONNECTED" cannot be disabled and often interrupt my calls. This was never an issue on the Bose, as it only plays a subtle audio cue when one of the paired devices gets disconnected. At least Sony's ANC handles popping sounds much better than the Bose 700s. Turning on the coffee grinder while wearing the Bose 700s was always an awful experience.

@fulesmackofule

You are absolutely right with everything. I felt lucky that the company I work at was supporting to procure one of these for me. The pause/play issue is still present in the way that it fades out and back in, but I barely notice loss in the clip voice, I have a feeling that it is now buffered, but the fade time is drastically faster. The earbud mic is a joke. At first I didn't know you have to twist the boom arm to get it closer to your mouth. Without doing that, it's a joke again: noisy and distant voice. If you get it closer by twisting, it is inconvenient to change between mute and unmute. I really hoped that I could survive without moving the boom arm to get an acceptable voice, but it's a must. Also, that gimmick mute button on the arm?! That's what you have to find and touch the mic while trying it and others have to listen to your swoosh sounds. What a "great" design. I would have preferred programmable buttons on the body, so I could use e.g. the side button on the earbud that is to indicate others whether you are in a call or not. If you are in home office, this is practically useless as a feature, but I tell you, it was never used by me on a Jabra Evolve 80 either in the office. BTW, that headset I loved and I only wish they'd have made the same, just wireless. Also, you are right, you need a management SW for selecting the source bluetooth device... Ah, just a disappointment.
@fulesmackofule

Now that I started to use it, I noticed that the presence of my voice is faded/muted as it was also cancelled by the headset. Meaning that I cannot hear myself the same way as before. It is really disturbing as the experience with the Jabra evolve2 65 was so much better.

Yeah, I have a pair of Evolve2 65 headphones that I am returning, but for different reasons. 1st is that the voice assistant (the voice that tells me what a button does when I press it) is pretty loud, and the volume is not adjustable! 2nd is that the short microphone that doesn't go all the way to my mouth brushes against my face, making a very annoying loud sound (the boom is not adjustable, ie I can't bend it so that it doesn't rub). 3rd is that the headset simply just doesn't reliably connect to devices. I was *VERY* disappointed!!!!

Just to be clear, the issue would not be very apparent during zoom and team calls, but if playing video (and pausing it). It does look like they might have finally fixed the firmware. A friend of mine said the dongle for his looked very different to the one that came with mine. What drove me crazy the most wasn't that they had a bug, but that customer support told me it was a feature and it will never be changed. I bought a Bose 700, but I'm not super happy with them. They are supposed to be magic about background noise and not need a boom mic. Well, they are not. They get a lot more background noise. For example, when I walk around, and the floor boards creak while on a call, sometimes people ask me about the noise, which didn't happen with the Jabra. Also, the noise cancellation seem to have issue with snapping sounds and makes a different snapping sound in the headphones. I think the QC 35 I had before might have been a bit better, I'm not sure. So far the problems with the Bose 700 are not bad enough to send them back.

Thank you for saving me 300+ dollar on this Evolve2 85 . I just returned Jabra Evolve2 75 and i was going to buy the 85 because after trying Evolve2 75 my rear had so much pain that i couldn't complete phone. I thought Jabra made decent headphones as i previously owned one of the wired once and they worked fine for making calls on MS team. I'm kind of hesitant about buying Bluetooth headphones. My main concern about Bluetooth is essentially what you described in this video. Sleeping issue, or taking too long to wake up. Although wires can be annoying but a good 3.5.USB wired noise cancelling headset are the best

Thank you. The noise cancelling doesn't switch off, just the audio reproduction, if I remember correctly. For your use I wouldn't recommend them either, because their noise cancelling is good, but not the best, and they are also very bulky. The Bose QC 35 are smaller, and lighter, much more comfortable. I think a few years ago Sennheiser had the best noise cancelling... or was it Sony? Can't remember. It probably changed over time anyway. Be aware that noise cancelling when there's no sound being played feels weird, it feels like some pressure inside your ears. I have no problem, I even find it comforting, but some people hate it. Many, including these Jabra, the Bose and others allow you to set how much noise cancelling they do. For your use, I would use that. I would also experiment with noise generators, there are lots of mobile app, some generate white/pink/etc noise, others have rain, fire, etc. I used to use that in a busy office when I needed to focus.

I haven't experienced any issue with calls. The problem with the fade in only happened with the dongle, but bluetooth wasn't a solution due to bluetooth being limited to only one computer. I bought the headset, works great for me. I don't have any of the issues your having using Bluetooth. Did you try it with multiple devices?
@pablo_fernandez
@pablo_fernandez 3 жыл бұрын
I tested this on my 2 computers. I didn't have this issue with Bluetooth, the problem with using Bluetooth is that there's no way to tell the headphones to switch to a different one. It can only connect to 2 devices at the same time, so if you have 3, the headphones decide which 2 to connect to and it's not always correct and when it's not, there's no way to cycle through the devices to find the right one. I reached out with this problem to Jabra and they told me that Bluetooth was supposed to be used only on mobiles and that for computers I should use the dongle so that I can unplug it and plug it on another computer to be able to chose which computer I want to connect my headphones to. I wasn't happy with this "bluetooth is only for mobile" stance, but I rolled with it. Oh, also Jabra support recommended me to not have two computers. I have a friend that's using the dongle and doesn't have this problem, but he told me his dongle looks very different. I reached out to Jabra about the audio cutting issue that I was having, and they told me this is by design, this is how it's supposed to work. That was the last straw for me. I don't think the quality of the headphones is very good, it's easy to find conditions in which they don't perform well, and if support would help troubleshoot and find the right way of operating then it could have worked. But it seems that whatever problem I reach out to support with, their answer is "It's not a bug, it's a feature, ticket closed."

Based on reviews from @Headset Advisor, I have recently purchased Jabra evolve2 75 and these are the most expensive headsets I have ever bought. The main reason of getting these headphones is because of the Microsoft teams integration I wanted. Friday morning check-in meeting with my colleagues was the first time I used these headsets and unlike what I was expecting my colleagues complained that they were unable to hear me properly and my voice was breaking up. That made me really sad and I couldn't tell them when they asked me the price I paid for these headphones. This made me feel really embarrassed and now I am going to return this headset. I would say this with this buggy microphone even paying 150 aussie dollars is a big amount and they are being sold here for around 600 dollars which is insane.

Same here. I got the evolve2 75 and my colleagues always complain that they can't hear me. I guess the culprit is the boom mic. I am having a few other issues as well. Has anyone tried the Bose 700 series? I am curious if anyone has reviews on it.

I agree with Pablo. Complete product fail. After a month of use, these things are agressively worse than useless. They actually cripple my productivity. First, connections. All sorts of automatic stuff that turns things on or off without warning and without apparent control. You can start up a meeting and it's 50/50 or worse that the headphones will actually work. In the middle of a meeting, you will lose connection, seemingly at random. If you have a phone hooked up as well as your PC, a call to your phone automatically grabs pairing - you have no control whether to accept the call. In a meeting? Jabra says "Your client meeting probably isn't as important as the incomeing spam call". So you are talking with your most important client and a spam call comes in and you lose connection with the client. And you have NO control over this. Except to not use the headset for multiple connects, which is kind of a feature. What is galling is that the older Evolve 75 did not have these annoying features. There is a very big lack of consumer support for Linux users as well. If you use Linux, I'd say this a a completely inoperable product. (Jabra does claim to support call centers and such, but if you are a direct user and run linux, I believe that you are SOL). I disagree with Pablo about the boom mic. Yes, it's geometrically ok, even innovative. But it does not allow for reliable muting! In the older evolve 75, pushing the mic up always muted the headset and you always got an audible "muted" message" With this mic, muting is not reliable, and the headset DOES mute at random times. And sometimes it tells me I'm muted, and sometimes not. If you are listening to music with the boom up, you get an annoying "thump" mute warning every 20 seconds. And there appears to be a lot of static that is the headsets fault. And Pablo's point about the charger is also relevant. A fixed cable? Really? Why would you do this? The Product manager should be fired without a trial. Like now. So you have to choose USB A or USB C WHEN YOU BUY THE PRODUCT AND CANNOT CHANGE IT! In addition, it's hard to get the headset into the charger. I really can't say enough negative things about this product. The sound is not bad and the NC is reasonably good. But they added a layer of automation that's ... Well, let's just say if I were a competitor, this is the software that I'd design for Jabra to deploy. The design thinking is as arrogantly bad as anything I've recenly owned. A horrible, horrible product. And for only $500! I've missed parts of meetings, delayed calls, and had to put up with a thump every 20 seconds. Obnoxiously, arrogantly horrible. Ummm. Other than being a frustratingly bad product that cripples your productivity and won't allow you to even enjoy listening to music, not bad. 😠😠😠😠😠

I ended up being a Bose 700. I've been using Bose QC for about 6 years now, so I went back to my traditional brand. It doesn't have a boom mic, so if you are in a noisy area, they are bad for the other people on the call, they'll get a lot of noise (but less than before). I feel that the noise cancelling was better on the Bose QC 35 if I'm honest. I like the texture of the soft parts of the Bose 700 a lot, it's very easy to clean. The biggest advantage of the Bose headphones, both the QC and the 700 is how light and comfortable they are. Every other headset I get used to or not, for the Bose, it's immediate comfort putting them on. There are third party boom mics you can attach to a headset, but I don't know if there are wireless ones.

I made sure to have the latest version of firmware in both the headset and the dongle, so there isn't an existing upgrade that would solve. Jabra could fix the software and release an upgrade and that's why I waited 5 months to return them and had to fight with Amazon for them to take them back (last time I wait so long). The reason why I'm not hopping that's going to happen is because I contacted Jabra a couple of times and told me this IS by design. I offered to work with their developers to gather any sort of debugging data they might need and they told me no. Maybe Jabra is intending on fixing this one day, but right now the product was unusable for me and I don't see any signs that it will be usable anytime soon or ever. If Jabra would have told me "Yeah, we are aware of the issue, we are working on it", my reaction would have been quite different.

Yeah, fair enough. One of the reasons I didn't say "other's have no problem, so this unit was probably faulty" is because I reached out to Jabra, explained the problem, and they told me that's how it's supposed to work, that's how it's designed. Roughly as good as my Focus Voyager 1s that I put several years on (and replacing the battery twice!) Sound quality and ANC is nowhere near the level of the Jabra, but the mic and sidetone are on point. Range is good. THough just in the past week they've started randomly disconnecting from my phone's bluetooth during a Teams call. Not sure if it' an Android or headset problem yet though...

I manage to workaround losing content issue - Open KZfaq and keep playing white noise sound on the lowest volume level while simultaneously listening to your desired content. White noise in the background is barely noticeable on that volume level while it prevents your Jabra headphones from disconnecting or going to the sleep mode. The workaround is annoying too but at least I can do my language lessons/tests, which otherwise would be impossible with Evolve2 85. The issue is not reproducible on mobile phone, where the headphones are connected using BT not by Jabra Link dongle.

Although everything in this video review is accurate. The pros still significantly outweigh the cons by such a drastic amount. It's only problematic if what flaws it does has ia considered complete irritating beyond measures that ruins the user's experience that lables the device completely unusable. With all of that we're talking a 10 to maybe 15 percent make up of subjective flaws compared to 85 or 90 percent excellent performance. Take a car that has 200,000 miles on it. It's not going to be 100% perfect for everyone but as the owner the conditional terms are well acceptable compared to fair competitor sporting deal breaking flaws. I've had my headset 3 years and I'm a very active gas hauler in the trucking business and my headset has definitely taken a beating over the years. So while every review aspect of this review is very accurate, no other headset neither for me has neither outperformed or lasted as long as these. I also pc game with them and the surround sounds (spatial of what its called) is spectacular for headset that is mainly designed for office use. Plus at 37 hours usage significantly l with an extremely short charge time and a really far bluetooth connectivity range of over 100 feet. All the flaws mentioned are extremely minor compared to all the positives.12 minutes on flaws but easily 45 minutes on the positives if demonstrated in a comparison fashion to other devices Mine has hit the ground probably 10+ times and the speaker audio is still exactly like day 1. They hold up extremely well.
