This was really helpful. My dog had a bad accident with diarrhea bc someone fed her a piece of cheesecake without my knowledge 😒 I was gonna go for the rice/chicken/pumpkin mix but will be putting off the rice for now and definitely will be fasting her as well 😊

What about oatmeal? I sometimes blend pumpkin with cooked steel cut oats to bulk up the stool, and it is a better option than rice because of lower GI. Of course, right proportion of raw meaty bone is the best.

My German shepherd is almost 8 and she’s been eating rice every night for the last 6 years. She’s very healthy. I’d only had to bring her to the vet 3 times. 2 for ear infections and 1 for an abscess.

Yesss! Many dog owners believe rice helps when they are sick with their stomach, when rice can worsen it. :( When my dog’s stomach isn’t feeling too great, I feed him turkey, pumpkin, Greek yogurt, and chicken broth! :D

Do you deworm your dog/cat regularly since you feed raw? I have a 4 month old kitten that I have on a half raw diet and I’m concerned about her getting parasites even though I make her raw mixture myself and make sure to maintain proper food handling/aseptic techniques.

I feed my dogs a raw diet. I cook rice with carrots and other veggies as carbs and vitamins. Never had an issue with that.

So overall white rice isnt good, Vets recommended this when our puppy had an upset stomach. Rice and chicken and carrots. I have heard Rolled oats is good for treats. Didnt realise it had to be cooked. So pumpkin is good for dogs? And chicken? Cause that's all I am seeing.

Oh no I didn’t know that. I have been adding rice into my puppy’s puppy mash for his delicate belly. I need to take him off that. Do you have any tips on what I can switch out for the rice. Right now he is on puppy mash with some cooked hamburger and rice because he has a very delicate belly he he’s losing his baby teeth and getting his adult teeth so he doesn’t have a whole lot of teeth and that’s why he’s still getting a puppy mash and I’m scared to switch him to Rob because I don’t know everything about it and I’m afraid I’m going to screw it up he’s only five months old so I want him to get the nutrition that he actually needs for his body muscles bones and brain??? My dog came into an Indian family and my grandmother is having a hard time processing the fact that our dog can't be fed rasam, dahl, curry, and rice lol.

The problems this publisher makes is by treating all rice the same, and using bleached white rice as the model for his evaluation. Brown rice is very different than processed white rice: twice the protein and loaded with fiber, vitamins and other nutrients. In a nutshell: you should avoid feeding your pets white rice on a regular basis; it's okay to feed your pets small amount of brown rice in their meals but, like all things, vary their diet. More important...make home-make "puppy casserole" using whole foods (organic meats and poultry, salmon, sardines, green beans, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, apple, steel cut oats, real cheese, Irish butter, etc.) and limit their intake of heat-formed, cold-pressed, nutrient deficient, frankenkibble to small amounts and as a snack food - if at all. Even the best frankenkibble is junk food, at best.

I agree with some vets here. Im a certified nutritionist vet and yes most of what you are saying is true. Rice Its not essencial but its one of the most digestibles carbs there is. Yes it will rise glucose levels, and it will give your dog instant energy. Fat is not the first way a body obtains energy but the second way. You should not treat a Diarrhea like every time its the same cause. There are at least 5 tipes of diarrhea wich some can be trated by adding fiber ( rice or any other source of non fermentable fiber) and some just wont. In overall i like your videos. Sorry for my spelling.

Also, brown rice (whole rice) is much better for your dog (better than white rice).

I've been feding my dog with either cooked or raw meats with rice for almost 8 years of his existence now and he's perfectly fine. I just don't feed him with synthetic foods and other so-called synthetic vitamins. I let him fast as well.

Ground beef chicken or pork, fat from bacon or olive/avocado oil if meat is lean, whole grain wild rice, various vegetables and sometimes a Yukon or sweet potato. My shepherd has never had any health issues and he is 76 years old. Still runs wild and free like a puppy if I top it off with a dash of cocaine.

boiled or poached chicken and white rice is the go to when they're having digestion issues. I wouldnt feed them rice daily just once in a while, if anything I would give them brown rice

People and their opinions about rice is so funny in this country. It's the base for a long standing asian culture that doesn't have the obesity problem as the US. Now as far as dogs are concerned, I don't believe in it for them. I know this from experience.
