Had a base back in 2021 the one i had the longest It lasted about 2-3 months until it Got raided Then in 2023 i found and even better place same thing 2-3 months

Base building is just for fun. Stashes are the way to go if or when you want to store loot.

Only time my stashes were found was in February 2020 during the "free to play" weekend where every stash on the server I played on was dug up and popcorned by script kitties. I do take over bases and turn them into traps. Not so much to kill but to waste resources (nothing inside save a crate with a ruined hatched - my trademark).

I use wooden bases to store clothing tools and food, and if its breached I just repair and keep using it. Eventually people just learn that its not worth attacking and they leave it alone. :)

Yeees i do the same, i use my places i got for stash, sometimes i can have 20+ wooden boxes in one... Then i go out and make base to chill in... Ending up having decent loot init anyways... but never explosives, these i keep in stash ;)

i often find stashes when i try finding a good spot for my stashes. i think its so funny how me and that other person thought exactly the same thing. so i started stashing in places in what i thought was “bad” stash spots and i have never had a problem

Look up X walling. 2 walls in the shape of an X makes it impervious to explosive damage. The only way to take it down is with bullets.

There's and exploit where you can place a perpendicular fence at the same time your doing the regular walls and it's basically two walls crossed. It negates just about all explosive damage

Don’t put the time in building a big base if you’re not gonna put in the time defending it. Bases are meant to be raided as much as they’re meant to be built.. it’s always a give and take

Yeah a big base you need somebody on rotation or an account logged in. It's the juiciest target wherever you put it. If you think a low pop server will prove that wrong, all you need is one Chad doing his weekly rounds on servers and BOOM it's over, his squad is ready to raid. And it will happen.

I think layering wouldn't be a bad idea because at least it significantly raises the materials needed to raid your base. The explosives will easily take care of the entire wall, but at least you know you wont be getting raided by groups that don't have any explosives, which is probably a big percentile.

Hey Wobo. Are trap bases also a good idea too? To keep people away from your main base or throw people off? And what about also building little areas in your base too? Ment to trap players too? Like a little section that looks like players can crawl on top of.. and instead its purpose is to get them to crawl into a little tight space with barbed wire that cuts players up if they try to move or escape from it?

Claymores will hurt a player though the wall (KO at least) last I checked. The Struggle Bus is #1 for sure.

On official, ive been seeing people stack their gates in an X some how ( ive tried and cant figure it out ) when we tried raiding, explosives were doing no damage. No clue still but ive seen it alot.

That would only be possible on modded servers with "build anywhere" turned on, so normal rules don't apply and the admins should be deleting your shit

I had a base once, then someone came and left the front gate but deleted all my walls , gates and watchtowers, didn't take anything , then i got raided cause my now half ass base couldn't keep anyone out.

Is this just for claymore I've notice this with claymores but nit with grenades. On xbox claymores go right through walls and destroy the loot inside. Grenades do not

Stashes are the best. Any base is a target for raiding and will be found sooner than later. A stash is much harder to find and you can spend more time playing the game than building and rebuilding a base.

I have evidence to the contrary. I once had to spend 8 plastic explosives to breach a garage that had 4 stacked gates.

@@redshift912 That was during the current patch. I don't ever remember destroying multiple gates in one blast, but maybe I'm placing the explosives too close? It's good to know that anywhere within 5 meters is good enough.

@@MrAlswizzo I have a hypothesis that certain structures like the "doorstep" of the wooden garage might somehow block the blast sphere, so it doesn't reach the frames from underneath. Maybe WOBO is getting a different result because he builds the test gates outdoors on a level surface.

Yes but that's only a good thing: As servers with invincible building repeatedly show, it's boring AF when bases are invulnerable. At the same time, if it's too easy to destroy someone's base then they will be disincentivised to build in the future. Requiring someone make a precise throw for maximum effectiveness seems appriopriately authentic, at least to me.

The problem with walls spaced like that is that I can do what I usually do in that scenario and just toss 11 grenades over (in between the walls) with a low throw and then toss the 12th (unpined) grenade over and blow both at once. So either way at the end of the day neither really matters cuz duping is still a thing lol.

You beat the raiders by making wooden bases that are not worth breaching. It will be breached nonetheless but eventually people learn that *this* base is not worth it and they just leave it alone. Also pro tip is break down all the abandonned base that you find for the nails. On this playthrough, on official vanilla, I found a huge abandoned compound and got around 1500 nails from it... (And its like my most precious possession..... I can build a watchtower castle now with my precious nails...)

I don’t think this applies to console in the sense that I’ve done ALOT of base raiding on Dayz over 10K on vanilla. Example you pull up to a base with 4 gates or so stacked. They are cramped together so withing 50 meters. You deploy and IED right infront of them. That damage equals 1 wall and a half EVERYTIME. It does not damage all 4 walls at once like the claim here. I know this from experience. @wobo

Not relevant on vanilla, for a base builder try community servers. Burying crates works well if you pick a good spot tho

Johnny, typically custom base building still follows most vanilla limitations, so I'd assume if walls were stacked of bbp they'd take extra damage as seen here unless also gapped the 15cm....but, most servers who use custom base building also use custom base raiding and firearms as well as explosives won't do damage to those structures, "typically" only custom satchel charges will, hence why people using custom base building actually build based and vanilla players try stacking fences in a building, but not always as it would depend on the server, what mods they're using, and how their raiding is set up.

I was never a fan of how base building has just kind of always been useless, whether it be due to certain players being how they are; or just the raw material needed in vanilla. Like, why have a mechanic with so much investment, if you're inevitably gonna lose all of your work? It's kind of why I prefer community servers with base rules over official, it gives bases a purpose.

It really is a waste of time building in this game. Folks can see the whole base a mile away thanks to crap rendering, a few nades and a 5 layer wall is tissue paper, and players can use glowsticks to walk right through shit. Utterly pointless. Better off burying stashes in the woods.

Breaking into bases *is* super easy? What kind of cruel and malicious person asks for a mode of play to be disabled when it doesn't effect them because they can play on servers without the feature, and in fact servers without the feature make up the majority of community servers? Without a doubt base building is the best part of the game. Raiding is loud, brings the action and the most high stakes way to play. Also gives you something to do other than the "get geared and kill till you die loop". Nothing wrong with playing with that loop, but it gets boring if you play the game long enough.
