I'm not a noob at the game, but I really like the fact that someone (you) finally started a very basic guide to the game! I hope you will get in to very deep analysis\teaching of lines and trajectories, even the smaller ones which took me ages to understand.

Cleanest trackmania player keyboard

i've always used the analog buttons for accelerate and brake, never had a problem with my fingers. I'll probably keep using them since X and Square feel unintuitive and i haven't had a problem with analogs so far. I'll probably stop once i notice it's becoming an issue.

Hi, thanks to you I discovered the use of the action keys. I have been playing Trackmania for a few weeks and understood pretty good the mechanics of the game even tho I thought that analogic was better than keyboard since you can steer less than maximum. That's what I thought before watching your video!! Thanks a lot and good job Ubisoft for not explaining anything in the game

I feel like the difference between CAM 1 and 2 should have been mentioned if CAMs were being discussed. I couldn't even finish ice maps until I learned to use CAM 1 (had been using 2 by default)

I=this is my 4th ay on trackmania and I only regularly use 1 and 4 action keys 1 for sliding down to reduce air time or to tilt by a little bit 4 for medium turns (medium by me not by community standards) ful for everything else.

In regards to camera angles: If your normal camera is cam 2, you should also have 1 and 3 bound as well. 3 for loops/wallrides, and cam 1 for ice slides since cam 1 doesn't rotate with the direction your car is facing, but with the direction you're moving. Otherwise you can't see where you're going. Also with steering it's noce to have the digital version of it bound to your dpad also for ice. Ice slide transitions with the stick are slower and thus less effective than using left and right on the dpad

Can someone explain what’s wrong w R2/L2 gas and brake? I get that it’s not analog but it’s the default for p much every driving and racing game and much more natural/comfortable for the majority of existing controller gamers. Is there some reason beyond the analog thing not to use the triggers, or does he just not understand that it’s gonna preferable for a lot of ppl regardless of the analog shit

Can you asign action keys to something like a mouse wheel? I want to be able to change it to anything as i steer and stuff.

Personnally on keyboard i play with the back arrow for the brake without issues. I'm positioned like this: for right hand i have my pointer finger on forward, my thumb on right and i use my pinkie for the cameras. For my left hand my pointer finger is on back, my middle finger on left and i use my pinkie to respawn at cps with enter. I am faster with the directions and more precise for the brakes like that, but with time it hurt so certainly not the best thing. Because of that i originally moved to an arcade stick.

It's way too late to stop using the triggers for gas. My brain couldn't handle that transition.

i struggle with steering on every surface that isnt tarmac, like how much much do you turn on dirt? tapping fast or tapping slow or not tapping at all and just a constant smooth steer?

This video feels all over the place. Try dividing the video into sections next time... For example, you jumped from action keys to the different cameras in a matter of seconds... Good info nonetheless.

Skirt skirt ya'll Here's some other things you got wrong Also, at a high level, controller is going to be faster on almost every map. the exception is tracks where there's turns where you need to instantly go from full right to full left instantly to get the best possible time.
