Today i took out my protective hairstyle after 3 months and was so happy to see my hair and it's growth, then i go on youtube and see "tailbone length in 5 years" or whatever and the pure appreciation i had for myself just vanished. i went from "i love myself and my hair so much" to "it's too short, it grows too slowly, what's the point of everything if my hair looks like sh*t anyway" in a matter of minutes. The truth is, it's only ME that determines the worth of my hair, not its length and not other people. I love myself the way I am and then life gives me the reasons to do so, so defining beauty as anything outside of myself is a waste of time. Just a thought.

My problem was the routine,had me bore it's consistency and if you're bore don't give up,have a routine and after a while you can replace with something similar your journey and only your I got tired of braids it did make my hair grow I don't have the patience,anymore so I do two strand and leave it alone,I got tired of taking pills for supplements!MSM,biotin collagen,I changed them to liquid and put them all in my orange juice.

When I was little, there was a lady named Bernadette who was the only adult I knew who wore her natural hair. Her smiling face was framed by long and thick plaits, and I decided then and there to never use a relaxer. I never did, no matter how awful my hair looked, because I just knew that that kind of beauty was possible if I could figure it out. Now I'm at BSL aiming for WL and you are my new inspiration. Also, those video clips near the end with the back-lit ladies are 😍 gorgeous.

I’m 40 and just started a couple years ago myself. Looking back I did some crazy stuff to my hair and no boundaries were set- almost every color you can imagine, perms, cuts, overheated silk presses, rubber bands, overly super tight braids, tight updo’s, washing everyday, cotton pillowcases whew 😆 I appreciate my strains so much now!

Mindset is the key to everything in life. You expect people are evil you will have evil people on your part. If you expect it’s natural for you to have healthy and beautiful hair and that it’ll come easy, that will be your experience. Such a beautiful thing when you realize it ❤️

@@ifshesopleases I am! I always journal about all the things I’m manifesting but sometimes I don’t put as much attention on my hair. So this is a great tool even for people who don’t feel negatively about their hair but just want to give it more positive energy and attention. Also, you should create a course to sell and share with others about growing hair! Its a great way to make money while also adding value. And the journal would be a great accompaniment to the course! Good luck to you and all that you do! ♥️

Thank you, not many people talk about this topic. I can relate to your story at the start of my journey and slowly noticed that the more I learned and took care of my hair, the more I loved it. If I have a stressful day, I make sure to wear a headwrap and save my hair from being mistreated, I only deal with it if my mindset is right.

I understand how you feel. I'm young and I have always wanted long hair. Growing up in a family with shorted haired people seemed like my dream was an impossible goal. I never had anyone truly taking care of my hair or asking me what I wanted, usually, my mom would put it in a style and go on. My mom discovered the silk press method and things pretty much went downhill from there. Thanks to my dad my hair is longer than it's ever been and it's truly a blessing. I've cried so many times wishing and praying for long hair and due to past experiences, I hoped for the worst. Looking at old videos of myself vs now I say "Wow my hair was short!" So my hair is growing like I said longer and healthier than ever. I'm very blessed and I'm so glad that my hair is growing. You truly are an inspiration.

You helped me remember so much about my hair, my skin color and a lot of other things growing up in this crazy world. I have always taken care of my hair because it was something in my life I wasn’t ashamed of. It was long I made sure it was always done nicely. Being a dark skinned black girl I always felt bad about myself, so the hair thing helped. This video was great! Thank you ❤

I'm currently on a journey to rediscovering my natural hair. I relaxed my hair in December 2018. I loved it. In 2019 I received a touch up not by my original stylist. My hair started breaking. I decided to transition back to my natural hair in 2020. August 2021 I did a big chop. I have learned to appreciate the journey and in doing so I learned a lot about myself. My hair goal at the moment is to get to shoulder length.

I can so relate, I almost threw in the towel too! As much as I want the wash n go to work I just don’t like how I look- no matter how many compliments I get. I kept searching and trying different styles until I found the one that I’m absolutely in love with and it’s blow dried loose twist- It’s The first style I can actually leave my hair alone and also workout and still look cute 🥳 I hope you keep searching you will find the one that YOU absolutely love!

Hi Annica Thank-you for sharing! I completely understand how you feel as I went through the same thing! I started to find new ways to style my hair that helped with this. For example, I used to hate the look of loose buns straight after wash-day. However, after I started to stretch my hair, the look changed and I love them now! Also, I can do a loose-ish bun that looks tight as my hair is stretched and doesn't need to be pulled as much I have a video on my stretching technique if you think that it will help I hope this helps!

@DivestedFromBlackistann
@DivestedFromBlackistann 2 жыл бұрын
Change up routine and see what’s not working anymore, Start wearing your hair up so it won’t snag on furniture and clothes, and break, Head massages, vitamins(iron, zinc, and magnesium are important for healthy hair growth), check your diet, are you drinking enough water, working out(get that blood flowing to move nutrients to your scalp).
@ifshesopleases

Hi Chan Thanks for your comment! I'd say there is probably something you can fix in your technique that can take you to the next level. During my hair journey, I reached a lot of different plateaus that I thought would be the end. Maybe start here: 1. More affective protective styling 2. More gentle detangling methods 3. Getting ahead of hair e.g. instead of moisturising once it's dry, moisturise before it gets dry Hope this helps!
