Great pointers and tips on proportions but in all honesty it’s not completely necessary to live by these “rules”. Fashion is much deeper than just proportions. I’d rather see someone with their own style that’s funky, quirky and different (not implementing proportions) that to see a boring mundane trendy outfit that exists by these rules. i personally think that proper bottoms can make outfits a lot more interesting. the basic boring jeans with just the basic 5 pocket design are just boring, and different pants can do so much for your outfit. the 2 main factors of pants (or pretty much every piece of clothing) are the proportions and details. under details falls everything from accessories like belts, straps and pockets, to material. an extreme example for both factors would be tripp nyc x strap demin, although it keeps it simple with the color. an extreme of just the proportions would be JNCO convict 50" jeans. obviously you can also go the other way around for very slim proportions with absolutely no detail, as that can be very interesting too. for example true religion pants, although a little bit of flaring is very important. that brings me to my next point: get the proper flare. if you wear a pair of osiris d3's (very thick shoes) and some skinny jeans its just going to look wrong. you need a wide leg opening so the pants properly fit on your shoes. this goes for every shoe and every pair of pants, for example sambas (quite the slim shoe) look good on simply straight fitting denim, and not overly wide bottoms. next thing on my list: dont wear overly exiting stuff on overly boring stuff. sambas and tripp nyc x straps look very bad. sambas and some levis 501s look pretty good. osiris d3's and tripp nyc x straps look pretty good. simple equation: ordinary shoe + ordinary pants = good, exciting shoe + exciting pants = good. so all in all pants in correlation to the shoes are the most important expect for exciting outfits in my opinion. i think most examples used in the video fit what i said pretty well.

I feel like these aren’t rules but suggestions. There are many outfits which completely break these rules yet r amazing. For beginners it is necessary but the better and better u get at fits u can break these rules and have a new angle on your fits such as really oversized outfits or strange out there proportions which take over the body. Another tip for beginners is to stay monochromatic. Having a lot of black scale or earth tones can make it easy to make a lot of fits. #pvv hell. There’s too much rain in NYC especially the flood, I’ve been sick for days but the visit to the Kommune store (A pop up store for September ran by some really cool guys showing underground brands which show expertise in craft) was pretty good.

It's just like graphic design or architecture. If you wear a wide oversized jacket with skinny jeans and flat narrow shoes you'll look like you fall over if a slight wind hits you. Do the inverse and you look very sturdy and damn near monumental which can give off obelix vibes lmao. Imbalance done right however can give your outfit tension and elegance in an artistic way that stands out. Similar to how we don't really perceive most architecture as unique except for those few buildings that look "off" but are clearly too expensive to be "off" by chance. Bella hadid is a master at this imo.

what's the word. just moved to London. don't really know anyone here, moved into new flat and getting settled + getting used to my new school. weather is like 55-65 which is mad weird for fits. i see a lot of sweater wearing in my future. need to make myself a pair of jeans i'm actually happy with, my pant taste has taken a weird turn this year where i want a really wide thigh but like a tiny taper to the leg opening, everything is too tapered except OL Vast Cuts but so expensive and hard to find + not able to just wear to death without thinking. so i gotta fill the gap

Question : is the imbalance rule le opposite of the alignment rule? Because first you say wide top + wide bottom then you talk about skinnier tops with large bottoms and vice versa.
