1. Not knowing the difference between panning mono and stereo tracks. 2. Not using fades. 3. Setting recording levels too hot. 4. Not using Bounce in Place or Freeze to conserve CPU. 5. Not using sends, busses and auxes.

I haven't even gone through the first five minutes of this video and I can already discern that you're the guy I need to be tuned into...thanks for the great info and demonstration. I'm you're newest subscriber. Great tip regarding recording levels...I've always remembered from my early recording days years ago that 7 is your nominal, so hot tracks that are completely above this are definitely on their way into distortion if you don't watch/listen carefully...this has always saved me from pushing things into heavy distortion or clipping the signal. Just a rule of thumb.

Wow... Thank you so much for this. I've been getting deep into logic for an orchestra project and you've explained all the cpu issues I've been having! Freeze and BIP will save me. I shed a little tear over the M1 Mac Mini I just bought to fix what was in fact a technique issue, but it'll still be great to have! Best channel I've seen for Logic Pro X. Easiest new sub ever. Holy crap, bro - while every point in this is valuable (and things I do all the time ), your explanation for busses is the best I've ever heard - I'm stealing the tap analogy and using it to explain to others. Thanks so much for these super-instructive clips. Even an old dog like me is learning new tricks (and making better tracks because of it).

Good tutorial. Quick note, when you freeze a track, the next time you open the session, Logic Pro will not load the associated plugins for the frozen tracks. It will only load the temporary bounced version. When you unfreeze the track, it will load the plugins for the track at that moment.

The phenomenon of recording hitting louder peaks after showing lower during level checking goes away once you turn off the metronome click. Somehow the metronome pushes the levels higher during recording.

A few things to mention: Logic has a setting to snap edits to zero crossings in the snap dropdown, I wish it was on by default. This prevents the pop by starting regions when they are at zero on the wave signal. But the fade does show some tlc ;) Also, regarding freezing tracks (essential) there is the pre fader mode in the inspector which only freezes the source and lets you continue to try out your effects. Good job! I just wanted to point out additions to what you were presenting. It’s such a great DAW. Thanks!

Thank you for your intelligence and wisdom. You will know that the 'phenomenon' of the solo'ed musician is simply that when solo'ed, they are already outside of context.Perhaps either ask the musician to "play louder than you ever have" or soundcheck them whilst performing within the track? Many thanks for your valuable instruction.

reason for the people playing way louder than soundcheck: they want to hear the acoustic sound of the drums/guitars/etc. some of my clients talk really loudly when they put headphones on when checking my mixes...sometimes that can scare me a little bit hahah

I am new to Logic Pro 10. I was a previous Pro Tools user for Four years. When I was a student learning Pro tools the software was inexpensive. No longer a student the price went up significantly. I record music as a hobby and have Apple Mac mini, which I love. I am currently using the free trial version For 90 days. I only had Logic Pro X for a few days and I am totally sold? The virtual instruments are so close to the real sound. I will be a avid subscriber from now on.

You’re an excellent speaker. I don’t think you stumbled your words even once. Valid topics as well. One pet peeve of my own is keeping your project files clean and organized. This includes properly labeling and color coordinating your tracks and regions. Utilizing track stacks is also crucial. Achieve all of this without losing any time by creating templates, as well.

I really like that Apple added the stereo pan feature to the pan knobs, but I still like the Direction Mixer better, as it's easier to control and deal with visually than the small pan knobs . I wish the pan knobs could turn into a mini Direction Mixer appearance in place of the pan knob.
@WhyLogicProRules

For sure! I'd love for the Stereo pan knobs to be set to "Stereo Panning" by Default, as opposed to Balance knobs. Hopefully the Logic team at Apple are catching these requests :)

I would have said in stereo a drum has toms snare hi-hat on one side then as you pan has other toms and cymbals on the other side. If in Mono it is all coming out both sides so you can pan everything to left or right but in stereo, panning will lose the drums on one side or the other. Would have halved the first point and new people could hear it straight away.
