I’ve had turning Ollie’s all the time and every comment is shoulders but I always knew it was something deeper.

Great video. Hippie jumps are the answer. Jump straight up , and the knees to chest.

and never forget to pushing point of your back foot for the pop must be between truck holes, i mean, in the middle.

this is exactly the problem I'm dealing with, and hopeful exactly the video i need! edit: yes! I made a few recordings and my problem is exactly described in the "weight off center" section. Makes a lot of sense! I definitely was scared to land on my board when I first started practicing, and I guess it's become a habit. I too shall go practice some hippie jumps. Thanks for the video!

As much as I've worked on keeping my shoulders closed I never paid attention to my front hip opening as I pop, which it totally does, now I just need to fix it.

Jesus thank you for not just saying "Don't turn your shoulders." When I was getting my Ollies down pact I remember I would always do a really good ollie, and then I'd land turned. So my solution was to keep my legs bent all the way until I landed instead of manually extending them. And I think this made me stop subconsciously opening my legs

This is a good one, i hate how sometimes my ollies do this, i haven't watched yet but i bet it has to do with where you have your shoulders

Extraordinary explanation! Can you make a video explaining or mentioning how far glutes and hips must bee from feet, board and center of gravity when we start with flex knees? Thank!! continue making great videos bro!

Hopefully, this channel will be the most important skateboarding video resource in the future. Sure, you can say "Just don't think about it, try until you can straighten it! Git gud!", but for some people (at least for me), breaking down the WHY is important for self analyzing or if you like to skate alone.

Guys never stop skatin ,trust me ive been skatin since 1993 have a whole bag of tricks nothing super ill ,but i can hang, anyway i had to stop for a couple of years (we had moved to the top of a mountain in the blue ridge mountains in south central VA and all the roads were gravel and the ones that weren't gravel were too steep ,winding and dangerous to even walk on let alone skate) and its as close to havin to start over again as i ever want to ever again, its so annoying and frustrating,im sure some of it is old man issues but not completely lol

nah homie! You just got to get back to it. It may feel like starting over, but you got the knowledge. Just gotta rebuild the muscle memory.

I stopped skating a while back unfortunately. Being older, I can't risk getting injured and being off work for an extended time. Plus the medical bills, even with insurance, they don't cover everything. Being older sucks. I'd love to start skating again but can't. I do wish we had access to videos like this guy's while I was growing up. Makes me wonder how much better I could've gotten.

if you quit because of fear of injury, no amount of tutorials would make you better. I definitely understand, I had an injury filled summer that set me back quite a bit, but if you just keep it within your ability, there are lots of old guys who skate, minimizing risk. Wish you the best corncobb! @@Corn0nTheCobb

Yep the straighter you keep your shoulders over the board ,your shoulder are like a barometer for where your trick will end up

Have you guys ever noticed how pros don't explain too in depth when teaching a trick? This is because you need to adopt a "dont think. just do" mentality to be good (unless you're a nerd).

@@dr.trollman8132Just because some guitarists don't know how to read music doesn't mean that understanding music theory won't help you while learning. The same applies here.

That's not a correlated analogy. Physics is not the same as music theory in the skateboarding world. Think swimming and gymnastics when comparing skateboarding. @@KaitouKaiju
