I'm not sure, but I think the Para-RAID does more than just pick up audio and play to to the handler. Anette states in episode 5 that the device share their sensory data, which means that the para-RAID can send everything each processor hears, feels, tastes, smells, and SEES. I think Anette also mentions that low-rate auditory sync is usually the only one that the handlers use, but based on Shin's comment on 8:11 I would guess that Milize also connects to their sight to some extent (and possibly even more). It would also explain why she could draw them at 12:01

You are correct. But, that’s only if one side chooses to do so. Shin said “seen” but they’re only generally used to synch hearing. Feelings however, are always transmitted so you can always tell how the other side is feeling.

The para-raid is used just for comunication because the amount of information would be too much to handle for the handler's brain (it could resoult in death or other damages like blindness), but yeah it could be used to share the others sense. The feeling thing serve to show how milze is different from the others alba and to establish a connection with the 86 and especially shin No she didn't see them

She doesn't connect on higher level really, except in later episode once for few seconds, since it's very dangerous and could kill the person that tries to get too much data from others.

The little character moments with the 86 are nice and I enjoy them...but they also fill with a lowkey sense of dread Not only because of the ever present risk of them dying, but on the mental health of the survivors. You can only pretend like you don't hurt and nothing's wrong for so long before something in you snaps. Shin is already facing those scars...

The brother said they are from the other kingdom that created the Legion, so maybe Shin told someone and that got his parents killed and they put him and his brother on the battlefield.

Fun fact: Diya(guy who died) had the call sign "black dog" because black dogs are often familiars/ servents of witches, anju's call sign being "snow witch"

Spearhead was formed only a little bit before Lena took command of them. Squadrons are shuffled around every six months, but obviously some people are shuffled in together from the same squadron (eg: Shin, Raiden, Theo, and Kurena were shuffled together. Anju and Daiya also. Etc)

they say after the flashback that it's been 4 months since the party. so either it's already been 4 months since lena became they're handler OR lena became their handler 4 months later.

Well, the girl shooting herself actually did the best thing in the situation. Also, since there is Season 2 confirmed for later this year, prepare to have everyone but the Reaper taken away... at most 2-3 will likely remain with him to the end, and I don't think they will receive any reinforcements. Although, I'm sure one of the novel readers will surely correct me. :D

Something that annoys me about the show is how incompetent their military functionally is. There’s always a certain degree of incompetence and bureaucracy when it comes to the military, mainly because that’s just what happens when you organize a system of people with command over others with separate yet similar goals, but they are usually still functional to complete a mission. The military in this universe just… isn’t. Even when not referring to them as humans, they are still the usable fighting force defending the country. The oldest and most of the more experienced and intelligent among the 86 are dead and now resorting to children, commanders aren’t reading AARs because they’re lazy, casualties are slow to replace unless the entire unit is wiped out, logistical lines sound like they aren’t even working properly half the time, any sort of meaningful defensive infrastructure is basically nonexistent, and they fail to even engage units in an indirect manner if they aren’t already 86 so things like artillery sit completely unused. It’s like the military is being run by toddlers rather than any number of intelligent officers with two brain cells to rub together. Shit their mechanized units don’t even have MAPS. Everything else aside it’s a really good watch but just… the fuck. How are these guys still a country.

I'm a bit late here, but I think someone on 9Anime summed it up best when they said that it looked like the Federation's military was more focused on exterminating the 86 than actually defending their country at this point. The higher-ups are all completely convinced that the legion's mecs are just going to die in 2 years anyway so they don't see any point in actually trying to be competent. Some people were also speculating that the reason the 86 aren't given any good maps could've been a way to prevent them from just taking off or organizing some kind of resistance.

There's a reason for that. San Magnolia's society is based on the situation France had in WW2, an incompetent military with bad leadership bloated by being used as a job creator, whose people don't want to fight after a war with massive causalities and is using ethnic minorities to fight for them The author is a major military buff, and 86 has many allusions to WW2, such as the camps being allusion to nazi concentration camps and the stripping of 86's rights and them going to fight anyway being a parallel to US stripping rights of Japanese-Americans
