Not a bad video, good job Joshua. You forgot to mention that 802.11a worked via 5 ghz but was mainly used for enterprise prior to the dual band routers being released. The TP link Deco app though I find to be leaving much to be desired compared to google wifi. The tests I believe are being done at the client device not the client gateway like google wifi.

Nicely done video, clear explanations and easy to follow. Did not see (or missed?) what was your ISP download speed (subscription 1 gig?), only what the tests showed (~8:37). 6E is great for speed and bandwidth. It's allowing my ISP 1G plan to get to my devices. The only problem is the 120v smart switch at the front porch light is dysfunctional due to not being compatible with the 6E tri-band router; Netgear Nighthawk RAXE-500.

I purchased the 3 unit set from Costco last week and set it up a few days ago. Pretty happy with it. I have a 1GB cable connection as my ISP and able to get 400-500 download speeds and 60-70 upload on an iPhone X through out the entire house. I'm currently using the 6ghz channel as my dedicated backhaul, but plan on testing opening it up this weekend. I am still playing around with fast roaming and beamforming to see if having them enabled/disabled works better for me and some of my older devices. Overall satisfied and not seeing the drops I was seeing prior to a mesh setup.

Ok this is cool, but a Unifi Dream Router and an additional U6 AP can be had for the same total cost, with much more features and configuration options. Using a router like the one shown here is fine, until you need firewall policies and VLANs.
@BradChadley
@BradChadley 2 жыл бұрын
As someone who has worked doing installs for a company that does both fiber optic and wireless internet, almost nobody will use firewall policies or set up VLANs. Your point is still correct, but I'd still recommend this mesh router setup to people vs the Dream and an extra AP. Much simpler for most people.

@bringbackwindowsphone
@bringbackwindowsphone 2 жыл бұрын
That's not how it works. It could be due to bad cables, or bad ethernet NICs on each side. Ethernet should be lower latency and support the highest bandwidth though these advancements to WiFi do close the gap.

The big issue is Wi-Fi 6E is basically useless unless you have a multigig connection. Even if you have a multigig connection which I do it’s pointless because you need 2.5 Gb ports.
@dennisp8520
@dennisp8520 2 жыл бұрын
It’s definitely not useless. Also if your trying to do multi gig speed you do it hardwired not over WiFi. WiFi 6E biggest benefit is that there is way less interference. The fact that there is also more spectrum does mean in the future the potential to have higher speeds over WiFi however as it stands today that’s not possible because of limitations on client devices. That being said this is a huge deal for WiFi it’s the first time in over a decade that more spectrum became available to be used for WiFi
@ShadowriverUB
@ShadowriverUB Жыл бұрын
Those nes WiFi standards are not just about speeds, but also efficency and better dealing with dense traffic around, you want people around you to use latest standard as older devices wont use band space as efficently.
