WI V. DAHMER (1992) - Officer John Balcerzak, who responded to Jeffrey Dahmer's apartment, takes the stand. John Balcerzak was the arresting officer in the Jeffrey Dahmer case. He reported to Dahmer's apartment with officer Joseph Gabrish after Tracy Edwards escaped. He also allowed Dahmer take to take Konerak Sinthasomphone, 14, back to his apartment, where he was later killed.
A new Netflix docuseries "Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story" explores the gruesome story of Jeffrey Dahmer. Court TV cameras were inside the Wisconsin courtroom in 1992, where a jury was tasked to decide whether Dahmer, who pleaded guilty to the murders and dismemberment of 15 boys and men, should be sentenced to life in prison or admitted to a mental institution.

In the subtitle it states, “He reported to Dahmer's apartment with officer Joseph Gabrish after Tracy Edwards escaped”. This is not true. The officers that went to Dahmer’s apt with Edwards were Robert Rauth and Rolf Mueller. Balcerzak and Gabrish were only involved with the Sinthasomphone incident.

As i can see from the trial the questions from the lawyer where almost answered by the lawyer himself...wth! He should have let the officer speak. The officer was almost beginning to give more information..than the lawyer begins to specify the question again to make it more specific.

What scares me is hoe biased police still are to those in the LGBTQ community you only have to look at the Stephen Port case in the UK police were willing to accept that several young gay men had committed suicide despite no evidence that they were in the slightest suicidal. There was a suicide letter written by the killer that the family of the victim stated categorically was not the victims handwriting. It was really down to the sisters of one of the victims that pushed the police to investigate further.

I am strongly pro-first responders. I regularly defend police officers who are broadly maligned for the actions of a few. But this is different. There is no defending an officer who takes the word of a man who clearly perpetrated violence against a victim (regardless of age) who can’t even give his full side of the story because of his mental state after having a hole drilled into his head. If someone is staggering around naked with blood on them and a victim of any form of abuse, you don’t discount and dismiss the event because you perceive it to be a lovers’ quarrel. An ambulance should have been called at the very least. This guy failed the victim, the victim’s family, future victims, and the entire community. He SHOULD regret his actions every day of his life. And if he does not, then may God find no mercy upon his judgement day.

This is infuriating! These cops are horrible people. They didn't do anything because of the "gay" perception & because Dahmer was whote and that boy was Asian. They should never have been reinstated. you're right, somewhat. Konerak was the 14th victim, so 13 murders happened before, which is alot.....but the 15th, 16th, and 17th men would possibly still be alive today. so 3 saves. if Konerak was rescued it wouldn't count as 4 saves, because Dahmer damaged Konerak's brain with a drill and acids. for him, "alive + normal" wouldn't have been realistic. he would've been basically a vegetable

It's why people can be rude or mean to a family member or even stranger because they can justify it by saying they had a bad day or they think the person was doing or doing that to them so they responded with rudeness and hostility. This officer does not care. I am sure he justifies himself by saying that the kid did look 19 to him, that Dahmer didn't show any signs he was harming the boy, or that the boy was going to die anyway since hydrochloric acid was drilled into his head. I was thinking didn't that evil man drill a hole in that young boys head and throw acid in it before the young boy wandered outside naked... that's what the series on Netflix shows

Well honestly it probably looked like he had fell and hit his head, his hair would have covered the hole and it wouldn’t be that big of a hole anyway so it’s reasonable somebody could miss it. He should have had EMS check him out though, they would have found it after examining him.

@@JacobC479 I cant agree jocco, these people are not just trained to see more than most they are trained in psychology, first aid.. the whole shabang and yet they somehow totally missed what was going on in this situation?? There were at least 4 officers present and if the timeline of balcerzak is correct the whole incident was dealt with within 40 minutes...the fact that they had absolutely no remorse over the decision they made should make people realise this was not standard procedure and in my opinion, it wreaks of a cover up... if you or I saw this boy in that state he would have been in the EMS.. god bless his soul

Dont forget that they all saw this boy in full beam of the police car headlights... he would have been glistening with sticky blood after what Dahmer did to him all over his naked body... now that would be enough for anyone to call an ambulance and yet the police didnt think they would bother

If you listen to this cop's statement it is angel-like compared to other testimonies, later by Jeffrey and also by witnesses themselves. Listening to this statement you would think it almost justified they didn't think anything was wrong, but doing your research you'll come to understand that witnesses begged the officers to do a search and that Konerak was claimed to be "bleeding from the rectum" and the other office noticed a foul smell of rotting flesh upon entering the apartment, etc.

My instinct says Netflix put that in. If it happened in real life it was probably a random racist making the crank calls, not the police. However I realize I might be wrong

Seriously, they seen a young man bleeding, not being able to walk and talk. And they let him at Dahmer. That makes me hating the police men more than Dahmer ngl.

This trial as sick as it was, was underlined with racial issues. A topic that still strikes a chord today because of individual’s inability to accept accountability for the honest truth of the matter. This cop and who ever else allowed those killings to continue can ACT like they are resolved of any responsibility to those murders, but deep down they know they were. That’s something that they will have to deal with for all eternity. Their legacies are definitely stained with shame and guilt. They have to live with that.

Worst miscarriage of justice in the last 100 years. Asian male was 14, Laotian and spoke little English. Hurts to watch knowing the fate of the young boy. Reminds me of the Moab Utah police handling of Brian Laundrie.

He should've been charged with 2nd degree murder along with the other cop who handed Konerak to Dahmer for him to get killed instead of helping him.
