Hashim Shah was a Punjabi poet, best known for his story Sassi Punnun (Sassi Panhu). He introduced a new format of poetry by writing the dodhra form. He also wrote three stories "Kissa Kaw" named Sassi Punnu, Sohni Mahiwal, and Shiri Farhad.

birth place of hasim shahjagdev kalan is in amritsar near international airport amritasr 12 km away from main city , and shrine is in that place and sports cultural clubs are dedicated with his name , its not in jalandhar distt,. plz correct it :)

eh kissa punjab vich vaprda hi naheen sassi gujraat indian state di c te punnu blochstan da c. pre islamic dour di kahaani hai .sassi ya sashi naam hun v hindoan vich aam hai .shashi da maana chand hai. purani punjabi vich sh s hojaanda hai

Eh Gujrat India wala nahin. Lok kaav Sassi-Punnu wala Gujrat hun Pakistan vich hai. Kai khojiaan ne 'Punnu' naam 'Puran' da apbharansh dasya hai.

Sarbjit Ghuman , I agree with you on this. The narrative might have adopted by Hashim Shah from a pre islamic Gujarati or Baluch folklores.
