This will not work if you have a SB5 unit. The SB5 unit disables this function.

Thanks Joe for that bit of information. I've had my Powercab for about 3 years and didn't know that. I'm gonna check that out.

+Joe G I tried that and it did not work for me. I'm plugged into a Smart Booster with 3 Dumb Boosters plugged into it. When I go to that option on the cab, It doesn't offer me the option to change the clock. Maybe that option is only available with the smaller unit that you have. I'm running four 5 amp units.
@jimmyat460

+Joe G Yes. My Power cab is plugged directly into the Smart Booster and I do think that changes things. I use the starter 2 amp system for my program track and you do get a different readout on the cab when plugged into that.

+Joe G I just went and plugged into the panel like you did and it worked just as you said. When I plugged back into the booster, I got different options. BUT, keep up the good work and I can't wait until you move on to the JMRI and do an instructional video on that. I've not been able to make that work correctly. (Watched several videos)

That definitely is a good "tool" that the NCE Power Cab has. I think it's important to know where you stand during the pull of 12+ cars going up an inclement on your layout so you don't burn out your DCC System's internal components. Good to know this sorta stuff! Thanks!!

Now I didn't know that feature was there. I really didn't read the manual. I have no use for the clock but the amp ready would be nice. Still teaching me new things. Keep the education coming. I may learn how to run a railroad yet.Scott

Good video. A reading of .06 amps would be 60 milliamps. A reading of .6 would be 600 milliamps and a reading of 6.00 would be six amps. I believe the power cab is only rated at 2 amps total.
@JoeG-firehousewhiskey

This is wonderful information. Can you please tell me what is a good amp number is when running one loco, or under normal conditions? What is a high or dangerous number that I should be careful of? If you could help me with I appreciate it. Eric
@JoeG-firehousewhiskey
@JoeG-firehousewhiskey 5 ай бұрын
If I remember correctly each engine should pull about .25 amp. 2 amps or more is not good for any engines or decoders. Hopefully this helps.
@hclawson5431
@hclawson5431 4 жыл бұрын
FYI .... I believe the reason for a jump to 0.06 amps is due to the fact that re and green light mixed together produces yellow light ... ta da ! ..... in other words a doubling of the amperage. CNR1950's buff.

There is a huge difference between .06 amp and 6 amp. LEDS draw 10-20 ma, that's milli-amp, milli is 1,000/of or 20/1000th of an amp, .06amp is 6/100th of an amp.
