Dorothea Wierer became the first woman since Magdalena Forsberg to defend her BMW IBU World Cup Total Score title. The Italian could barely believe it when she talked to us. In a similar state, Julia Simon was amazed by her first-ever win on the main tour, while Selina Gasparin and Lisa Vittozzi were happy to finish their seasons on a high note in Kontiolahti.

Doro is just amazing!!🎉❤️ It’s unbelievable, that she managed to defend the overall title and I’m beyond happy for her that she did it👏🏻 It has been a great season for her: 2 gold and 2 silver medals at her home world championships and now finally another total World Cup victory!!! She’s such a great person and biathlete and I really hope that she won’t end her career after this season and will come back strong next season!!! Congrats Doro❤️❤️❤️

It seemed to me that Julia Simon was sliding faster the downhill than Lisa Vitozzi so that the ski wax was probably not so good for the Italian team. This adds to the quality of both Dorothea and Lisa.
