I usually disappove of introducing people to a "new" singer with a live version, but Tom Jones is a rare exception. He's one you have to hear AND see to fully appreciate what he brings to the table as a performer.

Tom Jones is one of the GREATS. What an amazing, soulful voice. However, at the time he was at his peak of popularity, I would not be caught dead admitting it, 'cause I was a teenager and my mother LOVED him - how uncool would that be ?!? Thank God I grew up and can now openly love his greatness...

Tom Jones is a Welsh singer who has one of the smoothest powerful voices around. And he was a showman too, in fact he was a big heart-throb with the ladies. He has so many hits such as "It's Not Unusual", "What's New Pussycat?", "Green, Green Grass of Home", "Delilah", "She's a Lady". He covers a lot of genres. Hope you will look into more of them. He is still performing & is a coach on "The Voice" UK version. He also had a variety show from 69 - 71 & had some of the biggest music stars at the time.

Tom Jones has sung with everyone, including an amazing live duet with Janis Joplin. This song was written by Britain's first real rock n roll star Lonnie Donegan for Tom and a few years ago Tom did a duet with Lonnie's son Peter on the British version of "The Voice" which again is lovely. I totally agree that you need to see the live version of Ton singing this song - many a woman has fallen in love with Tom because of it.
@peebeedee6757
@peebeedee6757 2 жыл бұрын
Why do people still say this? Lonnie wrote it for himself and put his own original out in 1962 when Tom Jones was a nobody. Tom's comments on the talent show are mis-remembered and mis-leading .... Lonnie was a star of skiffle, not rock and roll.

At 81, Tom still has same vocals today like when he did this song. Actually, few years ago, Tom Jones is a judge for The Voice: UK. One of that night's contestant, son of the songwriter, Donnie Donegan of this song. Peter Donegan played this song as he and Tom did a duet together. It is on KZfaq.

When I thought of Welshmen I thought of bulls like him, Sir Richard Burton, Harry Secombe, Brian Jones. His show was weekly appointment TV, late 60s. Duets with Janis, Joe Cocker, Stevie, Tom's own catalog. See 'Mars Attacks' if you haven't. I remember doing 'What's New Pussycat' at karaoke, Miguel's, '06, and his niece Tanis came shimmying up from the back. Sorry I always missed Jose, the place is closed, haven't seen her in a few.
