Great question! It’s been a while since I made this video and how I’ve been using the tape is that I make sure there is no oil or makeup on my forehead and the wig lace is clean. I then take the white side off and put sticky side down onto the lace. When I put the wig on, I make sure I don’t push down the lace/tape until it’s in the right place. You can also put the sticky side down on your forehead where you want the lace to lay and remove the blue layer before putting on your wig. However, there’s more room for error by doing this. I always seem to get hair stuck in the tape by doing that. Good luck!

How do you make the lace front not stick up or be way obvious? I went through cancer in 2020 with my husband and although he also lost all of his 2ft locks, he looks amazing with short hair. I do not! 😂 I’ve been through so many wigs and so many knowledge videos and nobody is as pale skinned as me, and it’s just so obvious I end up having to cut the lace every two weeks, not to mention how hard it is to keep a wig untangled and maintain the health of the hair so it lasts long. I’m lucky enough that I do my own hair and always have so I’m good at doing my own trims, coloring without box dye, have all the salon products but it doesn’t matter. The one I have right now is the one that lasted the longest, and that’s 4 months of daily wear. If you have any tips on that^, I subscribed and will gladly watch all your videos! As for the glue from tapes, I’ve tried it all and every time, there’s so much hair loss, scalp pain, etc. I think brands are usually pricing difference but I’ll look at what’s in what you use. Maybe I’m not patient, but it’s never that easy, and the glue will gunk up when sweat/heat/humidity happens and then it’s not like peeling off a fresh strip of tape and I want my actual hair to grow, not get pulled off. Also wigs are expensive so I’m just yearning for advice that works. 😟 Also I’m lazy so the longer the hold the better, and without getting itchy. Lol.

Hi there! My go to for keeping my lace down is usually the got2b glued spray or gel. I put it on my forehead about 4 fingers up from my pinkie resting on the top of my eyebrows. That’s where the lace should rest. Then I press the lace down with my fingers or use the end of a rat tail comb to press it down. You mentioned that you tried glue and tape and experienced scalp pain and hair loss? Where are you putting the tape and adhesives? I recommend only putting adhesives like glue and tape on the forehead and avoiding hair. I still have bio hair so when I use tape, I avoid the hairline. However, if I use the got2b and I get it in my hair, I just spritz it heavily with water and it comes off and the hair doesn’t come off with it. If you have total hair loss or a lot of hairless spots on your head, I would recommend wearing a bamboo wig liner like the one I wore in the video. It’s soft and protects your head. I’ve attached tape to the liner before but my head is so flat in the back that the wig cap tends to ride up as the day goes on. I’ve even tried to spray my hair with the got2b then put the liner on when it was still wet so it stuck to my hair. Then I attached tape to the liner. That was a pain in the butt to take off. I had to run water over my entire head to loosen it then use adhesive remover to get the tape off. Honestly I have found that what works for some may not work for others. It’s a lot of trial and error. As far as wig longevity and care, I don’t personally wear wigs every day but a decent synthetic wig should last close to six months. Sometimes less depending on the quality of the wig/fibers/cap and how it’s cared for. Shorter synthetics will usually last longer as they tend to not fray as much at the ends from the friction of your clothing, shoulders and collars. Decent quality human hair wigs are supposed to last close to a year with daily wear. Again, this all depends on how it’s cared for. I really like using Joico defy damage shampoo and conditioner for my human hair wigs along with Olaplex 6 smoother and 7 oil. But also be sure to use a good heat protector on human hair. For both synthetics and human hair it’s always best to go with what the wig manufacturer suggests product wise. For synthetics, I had been using Jon Renau products and I also started using Beautimark synthetic care products. They’re both about the same but I kind of like the Beautimark scents better. Hope this helps!

Dear Kira, do both the Lace Let Go and the Walker Adhesive remover have alcohol on them? Will the alcohol damage the polyurethane or silicone? Can the red tape be used on silicone? TYVM

I’m not around the products right now but I can say just from the smell that there’s alcohol in them. However, after removing the adhesive, I gently blot the area with a soft washcloth soaked in water. These products are made for wig adhesive and Jon Renau makes and recommends Lace Let Go for adhesive tape removal. So I would assume they’re safe :) Alcohol based products dry very quickly too so it’s not like we’re soaking the PU or silicone in it which would ruin those areas.

Kira, what If I have bio hair? Can I still use the tape or will it pull my hair out?

Hi Mary! You could cut the tape to a long thin sliver and place it right before your hairline starts. If you haven’t tried it yet, spray your forehead with Got2BGlued spray around the perimeter just before your hairline then put your wig on. This will help hold it down but you can easily remove the glue bond using a spray bottle with water in it.
