The segment with Scott's cat made me smile on the entire thing. I like how Scott even made jokes incorporating his cat on the fly. Another Wii game on Switch that I could think of is Dokapon Kingdom Connect. As a certified Go Vacation fan, I can agree that it was always kinda trying to be a Wii Sports Resort knockoff. It was probably only brought to the Switch to fill the void of the Wii series. Still, for all the game's many shortcomings, it’s still really good. Just hearing someone talk about Go Vacation is really cool, and the open world mixed with sports/minigames is a great idea. If they made a sequel that fixed some of the problems of the first game, I could die happy.

The Force Unleashed is this really weird case where the version for HD consoles was a perfectly fine game, but the Wii/PS2/PSP versions are a lot more interesting. They all include content in the HD versions was either DLC or never added at all in the base game, they have extra modes the HD games don't, and just waving my arms around to use the force and swing a lightsaber was half the fun of owning a Wii for me as a kid.

I think Nintendo has to expand Punch-Out!!! if they want to make it a success. It feels too arcade-y for people to like. I remember when a lot of people complained a ton about Star-Fox Zero being like that.
@bobjeezorham76586 ай бұрын
@@leonro I think just a remaster of the Wii game could still do pretty well and probably be effortless to make, but as for a new game altogether I get what you mean. I'm a huge Punch-Out fan so I'd just be excited to see a new game at all, but I do know that people want more than just the arcade style goodness Punch-Out is known for. I'm not really sure what they'd do that would feel most fitting; maybe some kind of open world exploration mode around New York where you make a custom character and can train under the opponent boxers? Like a diet Street Fighter 6 World Tour mode. Also I think Star Fox Zero probably would have had less complaints if it didn't stick with the gimmicky controls so hard and, from what I hear, Star Fox fans really don't like how samey the story feels. I can't really comment on it much though cuz I never played it and I'm not a Star Fox guy.
@leonro6 ай бұрын
@@bobjeezorham7658 I'm not saying that Star Fox Zero was without faults, just that the game being very arcade-y was a major point of criticism online, especially re-release. After it was released, the criticism mainly went towards what critics disliked (story + controls), but before that, nobody talked about the controls, and there wasn't nearly as much criticism for the story.

@okagron6 ай бұрын
Game needed a lot more than just those to be really fixed. The ridiculous amount of pointless fetch quests that drag the game down, having to go through each area three times, just how braindead easy the game is. But at that point you would need a remake to actually fix those.
@CDRW246 ай бұрын
@@okagron I can recall only a few of those quests being mandatory, and they didn't last to long from what I remember. Complaining about going to the same areas again doesn't make sense since you access a new separate area afterwards or go through it in a brand new way. You do unlock a hard mode after beating the game, all they really had to do for that is make a toggle option like with WWHD.
@okagron6 ай бұрын
@@CDRW24Except you don't go different areas when you go through an old area, that's the problem. You are still in grass world, you are still in volcano world, you are still in sand world. You are in the same area, doing some menial, boring task like awkwardly swimming with terrible controls to catch notes because all the devs thought were ways to needlessly stretch the game for some reason and not actually ways to make the game fun. In any other Zelda games you are not in the forest area three times, you are in volcano area three times, you are not in the sand world three times, not a single game in the series does that. The mandatory quests are boring, drawn out and add nothing to the game except, again, to needlessly drag game on and on. Get the goddess sword but it's not apparently awake, gotta collect flames to wake it up for some reason. Now gotta collect the triforce because padding. Not to mention crap like defending that robot that carries that jug of water because padding. Skyward Sword pretty much took all the bad parts of Twilight Princess and made them far worse while not keeping any of its improvements. It's a padded to shit game that needed much more than a basic ass, overpriced remaster that adds basic shit that should have been in the original to begin with. Paying 60 bucks for basically making Fi dialogue optional is absolutely ridiculous.

I actually love the linearity of Skyward Sword. It directs you where to go, yes. But I always look forward to completing side quests after each dungeon. It makes it feel extremely complete. And while it is linear, the world is still MASSIVE. Not as big as Breath of the Wild or Tears, but it's bigger than Twilight Princess by long run. People tend to give up after the second dungeon, but there is SO MUCH content and amazing characters. Flying on the Loftwing has to be one of the coolest animal companions, it's not the best, but ITS A MASSIVE FUCKING BIRD, WHATS NOT TO LOVE??? Plus, Girahim being the sassiest thing in existence. Real Heroes Fire Fighters also made it to switch, it’s my favorite childhood Wii game, I remember playing the absolute shit out of it. It was basically a first person firefighter game, you had multiple levels and different types of tools you can switch to, and it controlled mainly with the Wii-mote and nunchuck, you move the camera by aiming your cursor around (its sorta clunky due to how it was set up). A couple years ago, they remade this game for all platforms and they did some unique things exclusive (as far as I’m concerned) to the Switch version, for one, they actually took advantage of the joy-con motion controls and kept in that movable cursor/aim that the OG Wii version had. They also took some notes from the PC version and added in a functionality where if your using a regular controller like the pro controller, it disables motions controls and acts like a regular fps shooter styled game. But it sucked they got rid of the extra options, like on the Wii version they had some juicy settings but then removed most of them (probably cuz most of them were tailored to the Wii-mote itself) and only left the settings for sound and subtitles. Also apparently the version they used for the remasters was the German versions as the difference between the US and Germany versions is that the US version had more realistic darker toned graphics while the German version had a sorta cell shaded look to it. (For any RHF fans, they screwed up the comic filter cuz now it’s indistinguishable from the “regular” graphics lol) Overall, they did a decent job of the port, only issue I had was that it would randomly crash during loading screens, but other than that, it looks crispy and HD, runs well and costs pretty fairly (I think its like 5$ on switch)

We got Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn on the 3DS but that port suffered the same fate as ports as Bowser's Inside Story on the 3DS. These 3DS ports came out late in the 3DS's life when the Switch was already out for a little while and in return they didn't sell very well. I do think because of the creative art style of Epic Yarn, it still looks amazing on the Wii but a Switch port would be Epic still non the less.

Another one is Martian Panic, it was an on-rail shooter type of game with aliens, originally on Wii (and could have a gun bundled with it), that got a physical release on Switch and also has the option of a gun being bundled with it (although it's a very different looking gun lol)

I always find it absolutely satisfying that you can take these Wii games with you on the go and it's pretty damn cool and impressive!

I can't believe Scott's cat likes bad deals. This is truly disappointing. 😔 Also, Scott's theory for 'Super Mario Galaxy 2' not being in 'Super Mario 3D All-Stars' is the most logical explanation I've heard for it.

Bro I'm so glad he finally said it, I've been saying this for years but everyone keeps forgetting that the pointer, especially _Yoshi,_ would be nigh impossible to use if they took the same solution as with Galaxy. At least in the first game, the pointer stuff was never used in conjunction to jumping
@jaretco64236 ай бұрын
@AniMariBro But isn't Yoshi's pointing thing just the same as your ordinary pointer? If so, than how hard is it to implement that kind of thing?
@AniMariBro6 ай бұрын
@@jaretco6423 The difference is in how often you use it WHILE playing normally In Galaxy 1 the pointer is mostly used in sections where you aren't moving and jumping around as Mario. Slingpods restrict your movement until you leave them, the bubble keeps you inside it until you jump out, hungry Lumas don't move so you don't have to either. Galaxy 2 Yoshi on the other hand is all about pointing at things and using his tongue in conjunction with regular movement. Some sections require you to grapple on a flower, flutter kick to a platform, and then chain grapple flowers over and over while also adding a flutter kick for a bit extra distance. Or, there's entire bosses centered around holding something in Yoshi's mouth and then spitting it out at the perfect moment while you're jumping as high as you can. If it used the same method as Galaxy does, those sections would be INCREDIBLY difficult, if not impossible, in handheld mode.
@jaretco64236 ай бұрын
@AniMariBro Hm. I see. So unless they find ways to make the pointer in Galaxy 2 more responsive, it's gonna be hard on the Switch since it's not as powerful to control the pointer as the Wii has. That would be pretty flawed.

Wind waker HD came about because the devs were experimenting with next-gen post processing on the wii u, which is why it didnt age that well. Many people think the original looks better, especially when emulated to a higher resolution. They went a little overboard on the bloom, ambient occlusion, and weird clay-like lighting from certain light sources. It definitely felt "next-gen" at the time. Funny how our idea of good graphics changes over time.

But for us to not have Wind-Waker on the Switch at this point feels like an insult
@octopustophat33976 ай бұрын
@@Megaman.ExE7 I would've loved wind waker on the switch as well, but it's a bit too late now. Better to have a "super duper hd" version on the switch 2.

I run Galaxy in Dolphin with the on-screen pointer set to disappear if not moving, and activated with the right analog stick otherwise. Shaking motions are set to buttons.
