Our family upgraded from the Wii to the Wii U but we wanted to keep all our data, songs, points, etc. The Wii U- epicreviewguys.... is a major upgrade from the original Wii gaming system, even if it isn't as fast or powerful as the Xbox One or PS4. It turned out to be a bit of a chore to move everything over from the original Wii to the new Wii U. And if the two hours it can take isn't enough you only get one shot at the transfer- the data is erased off your old Wii and even the SD card used for the transfer gets wiped. So if you attempt this get it right the first time!

Question, if I already have Wii data on my Wii U and I transfer my data from my old Wii to it, what will happen to the data already on the Wii U? (Just to clarify, When I say I already have Wii data to my Wii U, I'm talking about data I've already made on my Wii U before I making a transfer)

I got the Wii u for Christmas in 2012... ive used it once. Never been more disappointed in a system. I think its the reason Shigeru Miyamoto died.

I’ve not done this sooner. I was unable to gain any access in the nintendo shop, and was completely unannounced that the nintendo shop was permanently shut down, I can’t download wii u transfer data from my old wii! Help, pls?

When you said the data will be erased Do you mean the sd card data or the Wii data And do you have to move game data to the sd card or leave it in the wii memory?

Will this work if my Wii is wirelessly connected and my Wii U is connected via LAN adaptor? It appears that if your Wifi is WPA2, you can't access Wii content online on Wii U.

I already have an SD card in my wii. I can only assume because you transfer everything off the card onto the wii itself making the card blank that I can use it to transfer my stuff onto a wii u. Correct?

Yup, that's correct. But when it's blank connect it to a computer with an adapet and format it.

Sir the menu is called a "Partition" it's like when you put Windows on Mac , You split a Partition on the hard drive. Primos

I really want to do this but I dont know how to transfer the games I downloaded onto my SD card on to my wii so I can transfer them as well. Dont see the point in transferring if I can't play all the games I've already downloaded.

You can only move save data, channels don't work, but save data works

So question i just bought a wii u and it comes with a few games installed. I have my old wii and was planning on transferring the games from the wii data and downloads over to the wii u if i transfer, the wii u games that are preinstalled should be ok right i didnt know if transferring the wii stuff overwrites the wii u data

you can't use the gamepad for Wii software.

You can’t move data from a Wii to another Wii. It can only be done from Wii to Wii U.
