Man, the amount of nostalgia I have for this trailer and game is immense. I truly do miss these times, so damn much. No matter what anyone says, the Wii U era was a special time for me.

This trailer set the standard for my expectations. Nothing before, and nothing since, has blown me away the way that this trailer did. And the game held up to the promise. I hope MonolithSoft tries to make a game like this again

Looking at this trailer, the most amazing thing I see is just how little changed in terms of locations or designs between this and the final game. It's one of the rare, wonderful times that everything promised in an early trailer is actually given to us in the final game

Coming back all this time later, it's quite interesting to hear The Key We've Lost considering they ultimately used that track for the final boss fight lmao It's also cool to see that much of the terrain was finalized by that point, the geography and layouts seem nearly identical to the final game Also interesting to see that the Zu Pharg must have been one of their oldest ideas; would have been interesting to fight it in Cauldros instead of Sylvalum, but oh well

I did the same exact "walking to skell" cutscene....with the bunnysuit. Totally undermines the tone of the cutscene, but was SO worth it.

I didn't know anything about Xenoblade or Monolith Soft when this trailer was released. I might have seen it back then, but I probably gave it no attention. As of today, I've played and enjoyed all three existing Xenoblade games, XCX is my favorite video game of all time, and I'm so starved for XCX content that I typed "elma xenoblade" into the KZfaq search bar and ended up back here. I've truly come full circle. Edit: I have found my way back here once more in 2023. I now have another Xenoblade game under my belt, and boy, did I love it. Xenoblade 3 is now my second favorite video game. X is still first. I'm still hoping I get to see the day where it's freed from its Wii U prison. Edit 2: So Future Redeemed just connected this game to the numbered ones. It's been eight years, but there's finally hope for this game to be freed!

If you look closely, you can recognize certain landmarks. Like the big iron gate or whatever it is in the background at 1:07. It appears in the scene right after, but in a completely different environment. And the strange rocky structure at 1:14 can be seen multiple times in both trailers. And if you pause at 1:18, just before the clip ends, you can see a greener-looking landscape in the far distance, which could be the areas that have been shown off earlier. And in the last clip where it zooms out, you can also see the city and the background, along with that weird rock structure again. I dunno if anyone even cares about minute details like that, but for me, it's a fun way of kinda puzzling the world together and see how things may be connected.

Still the best trailer that Monolith has produced, god damn. I miss this game.

My love for nintendo reached new heights after this announcement. Thanks for making this a reality, Nintendo.

Man, this is my favorite trailer all time. Im crying again, watching it in 2020, as the first time I watched it in 2013.

This was THE game that made me buy my Wii U. I was already considering one for SMT x Fire Emblem (we see how that turned out), Splatoon, Smash, 3D World, Lost World and Bayonetta 2. This was the game that sold me.

Five years later, still one of my top three games

After searching for a long time, I finally found (the only copy of) Xenoblade Chronicles at Gamestop during Black Friday, where I got it for $40! I had played it before, but now I'm glad to have gotten my own copy!
