They were many games where the tablet controller was not simply needed, so how did they succeed? The wii u was not more innovate then wii, the wii were used in a good way and the wii u was not

It was used in a good way but not enough to make unique, the most games were fine without the second view, for example splatoon could work without the need for a secondary view.

I've just got my WiiU and love it!! haven't loved a Nintendo system (home system) like this since the N64 and I had to work two jobs for that beauty as a sweet 16 year old!! lol

For all of the disappointment I've felt with the Wii U, it still destroys the PS4 and XB1 in terms of quality exclusives. The Wii U's launch lineup makes the PS4 and XB1 launches look like a joke.

I remember a different scene in Montreal. I went to Futureshop in Atwater (I miss this place) at around 7:30 AM, thinking that it might be too late but not really caring - I just went there as I had nothing better to do on a Sunday morning. There were like 6 people before me. 30 minutes later, we were 12, and I remember an employee in Futureshop counting us and telling us that we would each get a U. I got the black one. I probably used it for a total of 5 minutes. I remember the reason I bought the Wii U was because rayman legends, which looked awesome on the Wii U and was supposed to be a launch title and an exclusive title. It wasn't launched until probably a year later and it was not an exclusive.

The fact that they never allowed the console to use more than one gamepad pretty much guaranteed it would end up just being a screen for off-tv play. They had announced it could theoretically support two gamepads at once and they would sell it separately later. Never did. There were fun games on Wii U, but yeah, not a good concept.
