Athletes competing toe to toe like this is what pushes out their best performances. Excellent competitors...brilliant race. Thank you for posting!
@interestedbystander196

@Glenn Beck If you compete against people who push you, though, you move from OK, to decent, to good, and so on. Don't take things so literally, friend. This was a fine race, by well-matched athletes, and they'll both be better as a result of it.
@interestedbystander196
@interestedbystander196 3 жыл бұрын
@Glenn Beck OK, and what's wrong with that? Not all sport is about the elite level, you know. In fact, the elite level is about 1% of sport, if that. Sport _is_ about competition. Pitting people of similar ability against each other is where it's at, and encapsulates the nature of sport. For me, at least. No one wants to see a competitor get absolutely smoked. We watch sport for competition and drama, not for _certainty_ . What I saw here is no less worthy, as a good race between runners, than the Olympic final of the same event.

Only a runner or former runner could have made your comment. I remember the days of feeling like collapsing after a run. Coach would say, "stay on your feet and walk it off", he was right. Laying down was always worse.

She passed her at about the 500m mark and Johnson kicked it up a notch to pass Edwards which made her sprint too early and when the blond caught up and started to pass she lost the adrenalin and looked like she was about to fall, so did Edwards at the finish line, she looks wobbly after the huge effort. True. I commented on her last race that she did the same thing. not sure why the coach isn't stressing that. Her wobbly knees has her all over the place. What a contest! Second place set to fast of a pace on the first lap and ran out of gas. She will do good on her next event. First place, you're a monster. Way to pump your arms. I would love to see you training regime. One thing I noticed was the stride span seemed the same but 1st place, her body was more center on her stride looking at it from the side and 2nd was positioned more to the front of her stride. Less efficient in the long run. 2nd place don't beat yourself up, you might meet her again but if not she showed you a weakness you can improve upon. Glenn Beck, please no mean spirited remarks.

It was a great race, but the 2nd place finisher was on the line for about 4 seconds in turn 3, then another 9 seconds on or over the line on the final turn. Makes me wonder if she had ever been coached on the DQ rules regarding 3 consecutive steps on or over the line. I think it was around 26 steps on/over on the last turn alone. That said, it didn't change the outcome at all. She probably could have won with a better pace from the start.

Really good race, I loved watching it. Brings back lots of wonderful memories. Just a few comments. Ms. Johnson did step over the infield line enough to DQ, but that is or was not on purpose but should be worked on by her coach. Really good running form from both women especially in the last back stretch. Ms Johnson should have let Ms. Edwards lead the entire back stretch and drafted until the last turn then attack just before the turn saving energy. Although Ms. Johnson had the inside advantage throughout the last turn being inside, she needs to learn how to force her challenger outside through the turn better as a defence. as for the sprint to the line FORM and DISTANCE Training really count for the kick!!!! Ms. Johnson needs to do a bit more distance work, and learn how to drop her head, and PUMP her arms, like Ms. Edwards did. That was excellent form from her! This race was really exciting, and a good race from both women. Good luck to both of them going forward, they have lots of potential!!!

Started off strong, got passed up, made a strong move to take the lead again, got passed up again. That kind of stuff can be demoralizing in a race.

@@stephenwilliams7200 Yea, I was trying to be humorous. I was a runner too. I sometimes had my entire motor function drop off when someone blew by me and I could not respond. That may have happened to her.

Great race! Her only tactical mistake was taking the lead down the backstretch on the second lap into the strong headwind. Should have drafted down the backstretch and she’d have won by even more.

Great "sportsmanship" can we even say that anymore? Shown by the girl who ran in second, not.

Unless the rules havec hanged and not sure about final placing, but the runner on the inside coming to the line should have been disqualified. She ran 3 or more consecutive strides on/inside the inside line making her effort out of bounds. Great race up to that point though.

@Glenn Beck there’s literally no reason to bring race into it tho like stating the person on the inside even makes more sense since it applies to the inside line

@Glenn Beck bruh show me where I am “angry hateful and eager” 😂 I asked one question and it was “was she not the runner on the inside.” Everyone else understood who that meant except for you apparently. I don’t even know who tf you are but according to your profile pic you’re like 50 so why are you starting arguments with teenagers. Get a life

@Glenn Beck I also see you commenting racist things on other accounts saying only black runners can be sprinters and white runners being distance runners . Seems like you’re the one with the problem with race

Great race, good sportsmanship from the winner after the race. Johnson first taste of running against the bigger fish, knowledge will be absorbed from this race. Can't win them all.
