In this video, I head off out into the Peak District on a wild camp in 32 degree heat. It was a tough hike to the eventual camp spot, however the stunning sunset more than made up for it.

Hi Bruce. Camping was the only way to stay cool last week. It was extremely hot over here which made sleeping difficult! Houses in the UK aren’t built for warm weather unfortunately. They just trap the heat and turn it into a sauna. It was bliss to have a nice cool evening on the hills. Thanks very much for watching

What a beautiful place for a camp. Hat off to you for doing the climb in the heat. Also really nice to see green countryside - it's all yellow and dried out here in the south.

Thanks Catherine. I was surprised by just how green things are still looking as it’s barely rained in the Peak District for the last 6 weeks. I think that could all be changing tomorrow though 🌧

Glad to see you back out and about Anthony - I'm not much of a Summer camper either unless I can get to the Mts. Much of the time its been too bloody hot ! One doesn't even care to start a fire in the heat.

Hi there. Thanks very much for watching. We have to take advantage of those warm summer evenings over here as we don’t get many these days. I’m not a fan of the colder weather months!

Well done for camping out in that heat Anthony. All the views were certainly wonderfully clear on your walk to Alport Castles. You had the area to yourself too! Probably the loudest noise during the night would have been the snoring!! 🤣🤣🤣 I see good old Hope Cross at the start and at the end too! 🙂
@AnthonyJohnson1
@AnthonyJohnson1 Жыл бұрын
Hi Patrick. I’m still not convinced I was the one snoring. I think it might have been a few of the sheep in the area 😂. It was a stunning weather day, even if it was a bit on the hot side! It’s always nice to pass Hope cross on any walk in that area. I’ve taken many a photo there over the years. It’s quite iconic isn’t it? Thanks very much for watching as always 👍

Hi Anthony, apologies but I must of missed this one. I've been off KZfaq for a while. good to see you out having another go at wild camping, you picked a great spot. For what's its worth, I also struggle to sleep at night when in my little tent., although it wouldn't be a wild camp without someone snoring! 🙂
@AnthonyJohnson1
@AnthonyJohnson1 Жыл бұрын
No worries Tony. I have had quite a bit of time away from KZfaq myself during the summer. Much prefer to be outside when the weather is good. It was a really enjoyable wild camp and I’m pleased I got some sleep for the first time. Hoping to get out again before the clocks change. Not sure winter camping will be for me though as being sat in the tent for 12 hours won’t sit that well with my low boredom threshold 🙈

Nice to see you out again. It’s had to get ones arse in gear at times. I was inspired by you to visit the Peak District in May, Walked along the ridge from Loose Hill to Mam Tor and back down Winnats Pass, brilliant. I’m having a bit of KZfaq block at the moment, hopefully get my mojo back soon, cheers👍😁

Great spot Anthony. I've pretty much camped all the key spots of the PD, except AC. I'll have to give it a go. I can also relate to the key factor of getting one's arse in gear. As much as I enjoy wild camping I rarely skip out of the house singing 'zippee-dee doo dah' when I set off. I typically have to ease myself into it. Cheers, Chris

Hi Chris. I know what you mean as I always love a wild camp once I’m out and about. I’m a bit of a fair weather camper at the moment and the weather is usually forecast to be crap on the days I’m available to camp. Definitely want to get out a bit more though before the Autumn sets in

Nice wild camp there. Ah yes snoring. I was once woken by a bloke while staying in a youth hostel. He stood above me and a few choice words were flung my way about how I was keeping him awake. Our favourite full English is at the Outside shop cafe in Hathersage. If you haven't tried it we can thoroughly recommend it.

Great to see you out wild camping again Anthony:) it looks like you had a great time. What night were you out? Thursday night I was camped just a couple of miles up the alport river valley from your spot.
@AnthonyJohnson1
@AnthonyJohnson1 Жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin. It was the Thursday night we were out. Funnily enough, camping near the Alport river valley was the initial plan for me when we’d planned this but we decided against it as it was tough walking in that heat. Did you have any issues with midges near the water? Thanks for watching. It was great to be back out with tent again
@kevinstark4294
@kevinstark4294 Жыл бұрын
@@AnthonyJohnson1 how weird we were so close! The midges were awful around sunset time but I had a midge net and repellent so I didn’t actually get bitten too badly. It was my first camp at low level (next to a hidden waterfall). I think you made the right choice as the walk in in the heat was awful and I missed not having the views you get at high spots. I think in the future I’ll do day camps for low level spots and save the overnighters for higher ground with views.

Also being at the bottom of the steep sided valley I didn’t get a sunset or sunrise. I couldn’t see the moon directly but I saw it’s light… it was so bright! I thought there must have been a wildfire initially 😂. Did you see any meteorites? I saw a couple
