The weren't capable of flight, so it was for them a matter of when to jump away from the nest. Jump too early, easy meal, jump too late, easy meal. There was no escape for them really, no matter the timing, what is there to do other than hold off the pain for a second more.

@@breadhates leaving the nest doesn’t necessarily mean death for the bird. These chicks were developed enough that the parent birds would still follow them after leaving the nest. It is normal for the parent birds to continue to feed and follow the chicks after fledging the nest. The young birds leaving the nest still need the parent birds for a period of time to show them how to forage for food and other survival strategies that are not possible to teach the chicks while still in the nest. The parent bird’s job isn’t over when the chicks leave the nest. That is just the part that isn’t easily captured by filming but is a normal part of the young bird’s development. Some birds do fledge before having the full ability to fly yet. It takes a little time for the strength to build in their wings, that too is something they can’t gain while still in the nest.

It is better for the chicks to wait until most of its siblings are also ready to leave as well. The parent birds do typically follow the chicks for a period of time after leaving the nest to show them how to get food and for them to get their full flying ability. It is better if the chicks leave mostly in a group.

@@shannonspage9360 The birds can't fly properly yet which means the first bird probably got killed by the dog anyway. Same goes for the last bird as the dog is later in the direction that it flew away in.

It’s a surveillance camera there isn’t a person holding a camera. It’s just a camera on continuous record the person recording the footage doesn’t see it until they upload the footage from the camera after the fact.

One would think it is obvious there isn’t a person standing there the whole time with a camera. Doing that would cause too much disruption to the wildlife that they are trying to film, besides taking way too much personal time. I try to hope it’s a kid or older person making the comment and just doesn’t know about current technology, but you never know unfortunately..lol
