Pantera has one of the wildest stories in metal. They were an obscure hair metal band in the late 80s and for some reason just knew to reinvent themselves as this band. One of the founders of a new metal sound, groove metal. I can't think of any other band who was able to do this.

The seeds were there. You can hear it in Projects in The Jungle and Power Metal. They just needed Phil and also not kid themselves pretending to be glam when they were clearly not.

RIP Dime (guitars) and Vinnie (drums). And yes, as teens in the early 90s, our parents did often wonder what it was we listened to. Pantera started off as a glam metal band like Motley Crue, Poison, etc. When Phil (vocals) was hired, that's when the sound changed. I'll be seeing the current Pantera lineup play this Friday with Metallica at AT&T Stadium. Metallica performs a two night set on this tour and this weekend is in Arlington, TX. Which also happens to coincide with Dime's birthday, and to play in his home town.

@@jrshelton3398 I had my first, legal beer at a Pantera show last week. I took my brother by Moore Memorial Gardens after the show, to show him the cemetery Vinnie and Dime were buried in case he ever wants to come by to visit later on. Arlington PD had a squad car posted at each entrance. Guess they anticipated if anyone wanted to go pay respects AFTER the show would lead to disturbance of the cemetery.

"We're taking over this town" His voice is really THAT deep. Even deeper. The fact that he could reach those high notes with it in Cemetery Gates back in the day is a testament to his versatility as a singer. Anyway, I'm actually quite surprised you haven't reacted to their live performance of DOMINATION just yet. That's quite a staple for a lot of music reaction channels. You should give it a go. Like seriously. It'll blow your minds. Or one of your discs. 😅

Oh YESSSS!! 🥰🥰🥰 Pantera makes me think of my dad (RIP). 💙💙💙 Whenever he finished his chemo treatments, I'd blast Pantera on our one hour drive home and he would come ALIVE in that back seat, no matter how weak he was from the chemo. He would JAM OUT, and when we would get home, he would say "Thanks Nae" with the biggest smile. Then he would go inside and have the best nap ever. 😂 I grew up listening to Pantera, and I also would hear my dad play their music on guitar (among many other bands). Thanks for reminding me of my dad and all the memories shared with him. 💗

Love this song! "This Love" is also a must hear. You guys watched the concert Metallica played at in Russia when they did "Enter Sandman". Pantera was the band that actually opened that concert. They hit hard, love them. Of course RIP Dimebag and Vinnie Paul. Brothers reunited again rocking it out. Safe to say though for my parents, they weren't worried about me. My Dad has the Pantera songs I have on his playlist. Afterall, he introduced me to Black Sabbath, AC/DC, etc. I got him into Metallica, Pantera and Alice In Chains. LOL 🤘😎🤘

@@lungfulldrummer8921 I think Amber might be OK with Desperate Cry, Altered State, Inner Self or anything like that that's got a riff she can hook onto. I would say probably Sepultura's most catchy song is The Hunt, although it's certainly not their best song.

The last time I met Vinnie Paul Abbott was at Home Depot in Arlington, TX on June 12th, 2018. I have pics. Little did I know he would be gone 10 days later. He had a house up on the hill just a couple of miles from mine. He was so cool and laid to rest next to his brother "Dimebag" Darrell at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington. Vinnie was wearing a Van Halen necklace when I talked with him. Eddie Van Halen was at Darrell's funeral and the guitar from VH ll is in his grave there. Best description of Pantera I ever heard was, "Their music is like C.P.R. with a sledge hammer!"

Finally!! More Pantera. I told you that riff was infectious. This is my absolute favorite Pantera song, never gets old and will always get turned up to 11. May I also suggest Domination live in Moscow and/or Mouth For War.

I met drummer Vinny Paul at the rainbow in LA 2 months before he died. Nicest guy. HE offered to take a pic with me. Shook his Hand and told him I loved his work.

try the live version of "Primal Concrete Sledge". You won't believe how heavy they are. The Abbot brothers were amazing. I got goose bumps watching your reaction and thinking back to the first time I heard this very song, my first, on a ride home from hockey practice. Changed my musical life.

The only show I've ever gotten hurt at was the fourth time I saw Pantera. Got tossed over the barricade while crowd surfing and got my foot caught in a metal strut on the barricade and...freaking ouch.

A couple more great Pantera tracks are "This Love" and "Drag the Waters". 2 of my all time favs by them. Vinnie Paul was the main reason I got into the heavier side of metal when I was young, will always be grateful to him for that! Absolutely amazing drummer who could drive the song, had great grooves, crazy fills, and knew when to push and when to pull back, one of the all-time best!

Can I just say I've been jumping from reaction channel to reaction channel lately, a lot of them couples, and I'm always struck by how in sync and harmonious you guys seem. It's really heartwarming to see how gracious and kind you are with each other.

I saw Pantera on July 28th. They can still bring it! I went with the same group of guys that saw them with me the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd time over 25yrs ago. Now there is a 4th time! Hopefully more to come. One of the best concerts. Seriously! 🤘🏻Rock on Jay and Amber!

I absolutely loved them in high school. About three weeks ago I took my teenage son to see them, and Phil (lead vocals) brought up how the 90s kids are now bringing their kids to shows, which is pretty amazing.

I saw them on the cowboys from hell tour in 1992. All I can say is wow!!! Those high pitched notes during his guitar solos would make your eardrums crunch! And Vinnies double bass drumming, wow!

Totally rad reaction!!! Pantera has been one of my favorite bands since I first discovered them with this album (Cemetery Gates is my favorite Pantera song). Y'all need to react to King Diamond.....if you really want to hear somebody sing from low to high and everything in between, there is no one better.....and if you do react to King Diamond, you need to react to the live version of Sleepless Nights. Again great reaction! Many blessings to you and yours.
