The frustrated neighbors need to band together, hire a lawyer, and file a nine figure lawsuit against the owner(s) of the troublesome units. That will get the attention of the "airbnb lady."

No they need to vandalize the A/C and interior or the house when no1s there and blame it on the short-term renters. Cops won't do anything.

Airbnb operations have been driving up real estate prices for regular people worse than they already are. Looks like they might be driving down real estate prices for the neighbors though.

Hotel business is also suffering because of short term. Owners who know that neighbors are suffering, but keep doing it must be prosecuted. These owners don’t trash where they live , but purposefully do it in others neighborhoods.

Nah. That's just silly. And it's not our concern anyway. Hotels are a business and pay occupancy taxes. AirBnB's are a business and pay the exact same occupancy tax. The problem is not with short-term rentals as a concept... it's with (a) the individual / specific owners of the individual / specific short term rentals that are not SCREENING their potential guest well enough... and even more importantly, (b) the short term rental platforms--for (not) doing the exact same thing. I have a few short term rentals (but I have a 30 day minimum booking required... so I don't get punks trying to throw parties in them)... and I STILL turn down somewhere in the neighborhood of 5 to 6 booking requests--for every ONE that I accept. You don't HAVE to accept every booking. You can ask questions. You can say "No". BUT, when you do that, AirBnB hassles you, penalizes you, etc.

Too many spoiled brats in the States, to little discipline and respect for other people. It's largely a problem of a) education at home and in schools and b) repression. There is no healthy balance between the freedom of having fun and the freedom of having quietness around you. Those two things constantly bump into each other. In a volatile country such as the States, with more handguns than pidgeons, that is a very explosive cocktail, waiting, almost begging for victims dead or alive.... If it is not loud music it are street races etc. (Young) people are very creative when it comes to irritate and annoye other folks....

Thats Bellaire, they should have just called the police. The police over there are looking for trouble so home owner call the police. I do airbnb and I started my own company because of this stuff. You owners need to call the police if you see this. There are good renters that need short term that dont do this and it ruins it for them but if you see this call the police do not engage because THOSE type of people are trouble anywhere thy are

Just video everything and file a lawsuit against the unit owner. With any luck you can lean the unit afterwards and take to sale.

Good renters are only those whose background was being checked and who are renting for at least a year. Neighbors should feel safe. No one doesn’t want to leave with strangers right next to them. Otherwise, stop bringing problems for others. If you want to run short term run it in your neighborhood!

That’s why these violators like short term. One person checks in and invites an awful crowd with who knows what kind of criminal records. It’s absolutely terrible and frightening for the neighbors! If the city authorities don’t do anything about it looks like it’s a plan to ruin the city!

It’s not just Airbnb guests but a lot of owners do this as well. No one talks about that fact. Some owners are just as bad as these short term rental guests.

Using the word a lot is totally wrong. I guess maybe if you live in some crappy yucky neighborhood maybe it is common for neighbors to do that. But I've lived in all kinds of regular middle-class neighborhoods and it is very uncommon for people that own their own homes to act this way. Especially every freakin weekend. So don't talk a bunch of bull. People who don't live in a neighborhood are the ones who act like this. If these people had to stay in hotels they would not get away with this crap.
