A WILD world needs WILD tactics!
WILD Tactics is an XCOM-like tactical strategy game with turn-based combat and a detailed, deeply crafted narrative. Set in the World of Wilderness, a universe populated by animals, in an age on the brink of collapse. Focusing on gritty and dark themes, the ‘50s aesthetic, and the struggles of a diverse cast of characters, the game presents a harsh world that desperately needs heroes.

I have to agree it looks like a 1920s aesthetic with some emphasis on fantasy. If I could guess it's definitely in the roaring twenties. The reason they called it that is because the government banned alcohol sales in the United States. It was that which caused the rise of gangsters and organized crime families. They ran speakeasies, bars, rum running operations, and bootlegging. They also bribed cops, and government officials to look the other way. Cops were paid about the same as a dog catcher so it was rampant. Of course, you would think it was a violent era, but that's not true. Gangsters and their families would never attack civilians because it would create such backlash. Shootouts were usually between good cops and rival gang members.

0:24 was my favorite part. The pure and unlimited chaos energy stored in a small fennec body was represented, I hope the character (Kiorra I would assume from the screenshots) would get an awesome voice actor who would capture the feeling of that cute and energetic face.

Thiiiiiiis. Whilst I appreciate the style and tone of the trailer more than the generic cinematic shovelware trailers, it *is* still a trailer for a game showing off zero gameplay. This is ALWAYS a red flag, because no passionate gamedev would be dumb enough to make a trailer about their game that doesn't even show off their game.

Based off the images on their Steam page it unfortunately seems like it's going to be a fully rendered 3D environment. I was personally hoping it would carry the 2D animation style into the game.

@@cursedhawkins1305 Okay? XCOM is a turn-based grid system. Not all turn-based grid systems are 3D, so it's not a given. In fact, there's more 2D ones than 3D. Either way, I'm glad someone mentioned it was 3D. that's a pass. The whole reason this trailer works is because of great 2D art. If they won't show me gameplay and they won't use the art I liked, then what was the point of this?

@@cursedhawkins1305 Yes, but it's possible to have 3D objects that maintain a 2D appearance. Aside from that, from the trailer I was hoping the visuals would be a little more stylized. Something XCOM: Chimera Squad also suffered from. Great comic-inspired animation style, followed by only having basic 3D models.

0:51 Definitely my favorite character for the faice alone. One moment psycho, one moment cute. Looks like a promising game, and it's kinda nice to see a darker game with "funny animal people" in it. I like styles that clash a bit, and can look "dark yet cute." Like "Animal Crossing meets Scarface."

"One moment psycho, one moment cute." That sentence describes Fennec Foxes perfectly, clearly the creators understand the animals they chose for each character. I also like the small detail of the Fennec pulling her ears down when the bomb was gonna go off, you know that would be much, much louder to her then anyone else!

including an insectoid character, even if they're basically a redshirt (red chitin?) is a nice modern touch. the BTAS style artwork, noir bits, uncensoring, and thickline is gonna attract a LOT of Gen X gamers to this, too.

I'm mostly indifferent to anthromorphic animals, so long as they aren't obviously done in 'that' style, for 'that' audience... I just wish the same care could be put into human characters once more, because it seems the DEI-virus has infected everything.

Also an X-COM player. Luck issues, from somehow dodging 2 out of 3 shots while out in the open (or cover is destroyed), to missing with an 85% accuracy or successfully landing a hit on 50% accuracy. 😂
