Feeding Wild Turkeys with wild grown sumac.
During summer months, and particularly late in the season, some sumac species will be humming with pollinators.
Read about the benefits of sumac here:
bees.msu.edu/staghorn-sumac/
This flock of wild turkeys visits my property daily during winter. They also eat crabapples and holly berries.
Some of the many fruits produced through pollination, often by honey bees.

Always amazed to see the snow. Turkeys are cute. I like it when you have music. You always pick good ones.

Thank you very much! Some people are very vocal about not wanting any music in nature segments.. :)

@@FrederickDunn I know. They are stupid. All the great documentaries have a symphonic score. Don't listen to them.

If it's going to be cold, I'd just as soon have the snow :) Stay Warm, Larry! I see you made it to Kamon Reynold's gathering!

@@FrederickDunn same here. I’d rather have 5 ft on the ground if it’s that cold. Otherwise summer time!!

@@FrederickDunn - I’d also rather have the snow if it’s going to be this cold! But, I’m ready for winter to be over. So ready for spring!!! LoL!!! I was at Kamon’s “Hive Life Conference”. It was a real good time. Kamon and his wife Laurel put on a heck of a conference. And it was great to meet so many great people. 😃

As always Fred an awesome video!! We are in N Florida in the Okefenokee swamp and have an abundance wildlife including turkeys, but would love to see a little snow every once in a while! We actually did have a horrible ice storm 2 winters ago, my first and I’m 63 but it’s been about probably 10 years or so since we have had any snowfall! I do love it and love to visit it but I don’t know how y’all live in it! Again thanks so much for letting us experience your part of mom nature!! 💞💕

Hi Meloney, I am happy for the snow in exchange for that southern heat and humidity :) It's a fair trade for our nice summers here.

Brrrrrrrrrrr. I think I would need a lot more than feathers to keep me warm in those conditions. They seem to take it all in their stride.

At times turkey and grouse eat those berries. Sometimes those berries are fermented and they fly drunk.

Fred: did you plant your sumac? I saw a local seed company had inexpensive seed, and I am looking for a replacement to the invasive multi flora rose that I am battling. I appreciate that you “share” all your wild visitors!
@FrederickDunn
@FrederickDunn 3 жыл бұрын
I I did not plant is, this staghorn sumac just grows as a native plant. There are other sumac species that draw more honey bees: Smooth sumac Rhus glabra L. is often loaded and humming with bees.

Wonder what they are feeding on? I think those shots would challenge bird eye auto focus with Canon R5 and 600 mm lens with 1.5x teleconverter. Nice video... hope you didn’t freeze!
